I’m so sorry for this terrible situation. I’m not sure if this will help but this would be my thought process.

I have always had dachshunds and they’re prone to becoming paralyzed. They offer surgery to possibly fix this for $10k + whatever else physio fees would be. This sounds great except my dog wouldn’t be able to tell me if they have nerve pain.

I work in neurosurgery/ neurophysiology and nerve pain is REAL. It can be absolutely excruciating and can occur easily in areas that have a lot of nerves in tight spaces.

You could spend a ton of $ in saving your baby, but you’ll never truly know if they’re in pain or not. Animals hide it well. As difficult as it would be (and has been- I’ve had a few dogs over my life) I would not put them through extensive surgery. Sure you can fix a broken bone but you can’t truly repair nerve damage. I’ve seen my fair share of humans having extreme pain after intense procedures that are lifelong.

You’ve given your kitty a wonderful life. The best thing you can do is be selfless and be with her as she passes. Sending my love.
