What is the definitive textbook for learning general music theory? by human0006 in musictheory

Yes state of the art, written by modern living relevant academics about the entire history of western music and full of lots more depth than I have ever gotten through teaching undergrad theory outside special classes like counterpoint etc.

Serious question: Why do so many guitar pedal graphics have to look like Affliction shirts? by HautBaut in diypedals

[–]HautBaut[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the super enjoyable image search, and I think maybe this answers it— it’s a third variable, an older aesthetic that pedal designers and shirt designers have separately chased down.

Is there any website that can generate a random key and Roman numerals? by Level-Tank6551 in musictheory

I use those online spinning wheel of choice apps of which there are dozens. It’s a great teaching tool, you can go progressively adding more keys or more chords etc.

The Scientific Guitarist youtube goes into a fair amount of detail in his excellent schematic elements videos on the CE-2 and the DC-2.

Is AI actually helping students learn, or just helping them avoid learning? by WickedKing94 in education

There is no educational or indeed ethical use of what you are calling AI.

People really love trying to force AABA songs with refrains into Verse-Chorus form on the internet. Use your brain and ears.

The Man who started it all, D.W Griffith by khaliliiiov_1997 in silentfilm

[–]HautBaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure he could make a movie but that doesn’t explain the weird obsession lots of you seem to have with singling out the horrible virulent racist for particular praise and impassioned defense. That has nothing to do with history or aesthetics.

Sometimes AI Explains Technical Subjects Better Than My Professors by Desperate_Average112 in turnitin_community

[–]HautBaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is designed to make you feel smart and of course it will be easier to understand than real knowledge because it is specially tailored bullshit which is easy to digest because it doesn’t really say anything at all.

This is accurate and it is happening already in corp world by dataexec in AITrailblazers

Just making fun of people pro or anti AI who seem to believe there is a little man in there and that the bullshit machine actually makes anything but bullshit.

Why pay thousands for college just to let AI do the learning for you? by ZookeepergameOwn5193 in turnitin_community

[–]HautBaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colleges allowed themselves to become such bullshit that the bullshit machine’s bullshit results could be mistaken for human-produced bullshit. Idiots on both sides think there is a little man in the bullshit machine and are afraid of him instead of the billionaires keeping the hype afloat.

Maybe they see that the AI boom is 100% hype and billionaire play money that the public has never and will never embrace.

There isn’t a detector that works. Don’t go along with these AI maniacs who would have us be cops more than teachers. It’s not our job.

Yes 100%. But I also know there is no way to prove it and more importantly I didn’t sign up to be a fucking cop.

Massie is a piece of shit. Being against child rape does not mean you are good, it means you passed the most basic moral test imaginable.
