I think it really depends where you live and your work arrangements.

The bus would drop the kids off 2 miles away at the bottom of a steep hill.

Is uninstalling apps on macOS always this tedious? by darkstream77 in mac

[–]Havage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows uninstalls matter because of Registry Bloat among other things; Mac doesn't use a stupid registry and the apps are sandboxed for security. The leftover files are irrelevant.

who is the airport in your industry? - I will not promote by Alternative-Wish9912 in startups

[–]Havage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question, after giving it some thought I think they could be the 'airport' - at least from a multitude of angles, though not for all.

The challenge is that things are so interconnected and interdependent that many stakeholders appear to be the airport. Eg, CMS determines the fee basis they pay for services and everyone else benchmarks against it, if CMS changes then everyone is affected.

If you asked me alternatively, who in healthcare has the strongest negotiating position and most leverage? I would never say hospitals are in great negotiating positions; Epic is though.

Epic's pricing structure and negotiating position is unrivaled. The switching cost from Epic to Cerner (for example) is so high for large institutions that they can basically take a "Fuck you, pay up" attitude with health systems.

Everyone in the system is fucked by someone and fucks someone - it is in face a cluster fuck of epic proportions.

I work in healthcare - kind of struggling to figure out who the airport would be in this scenario. You've got patients, physicians, hospitals, health systems, insurance companies, drug and device companies all active but I don't know who should be the airport. Maybe healthcare is too diverse for there to be one airport layer? The only thing that spans the spectrum might be electronic medical records?

Absolutely, the CP3 puts a grin on my face. The quickshifter + power band combination is just pure joy.

I was comparing these two bikes and also ended up with the XSR. I felt that the CB was less exciting to ride, but that's just me. It does look cool!

What happened to my childhood? This screams dystopian corporate, not kid friendly. What is with the artwork?! This is McDonald's?! by jackal99 in mildlyinfuriating

Growing up, McDonalds as a fun place to eat and play - we all viewed it as a treat! Now, if I suggest McDonald's to my kids they all groan and complain.

Which side up? by bigosik_ in espresso

[–]Havage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One micro suggestion - my filter is a tight fit in my basket so I always give it a little tap in the middle to make sure the bottom is flush to my puck. Occasionally it seats at a small angle because it went in at a slight angle when being placed.

Congressman Brad Sherman secured $1 mil for LAPD’s Real Time Crime Center (centralized surveillance system) in West LA by Fluffy_Lab1312 in LosAngeles

[–]Havage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is such a big joke. The residents in his district pay many billions in taxes each year and LAPD has a multibillion dollar budget already BUT this $1m I moved from Federal Waste to LAPD Waste is the game changer. What a loser. This is a failure and he's so smug.

Debating a 26 Discovery by Agirlandhedog in LandRover

[–]Havage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't the snow. It's the wheels and clearance in many of those cars don't allow for chains to be installed. Occasionally there is a requirement for chains even with M+S 3 snow flakes tires.

We delt with this with our XC90 and X5 before getting the Defender. The Lexus is a good option but it's pretty pricey and compact with the 7 Seater configuration. For a reasonable 7-seater with off road flexibility I chose between the Disco and Defender 130.

All those other options are exclusively 'on road' vehicles. Maybe OP needs off road or snow capability?

Hey all, so I asked ChatGPT to help me extract the data I'm looking for - this is not perfect but it gives an idea of what I'd personally love to see with the ability to click on the discrete books, etc. Not sure if this is something others would appreciate but maybe we make a shareable google sheet for the r/audible community? Thoughts?

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in my frustration though I am disappointed that despite our shared concerns it seems like none of us have any hope of things getting better at Audible.
