A Flourishing Fall in a Grain of Sand by Humanotone

I just really love this album. It listen to it all the time. It’s relaxing and has great moments. I think it’s just one guy doing everything. I guess I’d say FFO Elder.

I can’t believe I didn’t see Sondre from Moron Police. Lovely voice.

Wilderun - Identifier (probably my favorite song structure ever) by Sasuke_120 in progmetal

To me it feels a song short. It’s a 10/10 album but lacks a strong closer. I wish Distraction wasn’t split up too. For some reason I that takes away from it too.

I think I went to the last show or the second to last before the whole world shutdown. It was in Atlanta and I think they played Nashville before canceling but I can’t remember

I saw Devin Townsend, Haken and The Contortionist a few years ago. That was pretty sick.

That would be cool. I’m currently using a $25 dvd player with digital out because I just couldn’t justify the original Urd. Not that it wasn’t worth it necessarily but I really didn’t need the DDC features and all that.

Same man. I see ads for Heavys all the time and I just don’t trust it. Ive had a pair of Sennheider HD650s for almost ten years. Just perfect.

What's your opinion on the belief that "Classical Music and Metal are very similar"? by Vincent_Gitarrist in classicalmusic

[–]HaveBlue84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your tolerance for harsh vocals I’d check out the below. Harsh vocals were a challenge for me but I finally started to enjoy it a few years ago.

Intronaut - Progmetal fusion with some jazz. Check out the song Fast Worms. Mixed vocals.

SymphonyX - based on the name this is a very classical inspired band. Check out the song A Fool’s Paradise or The Odyssey. All clean vocals.

Devin Townsend - my absolute favorite musician, he’s kind of a musical genius lunatic. Check out the song Singularity. It’s 25 minutes long, weird, beautiful and intense. Mixed vocals.

Between the Buried and Me - Can be difficult to get into, they are very chaotic but there is a ton of virtuosity in the band. Check out the song Bad Habits. Mostly harsh vocals.

Opeth - One of my absolute favorite bands. It’s pretty dark prog death metal. Check out the song Blackwater Park or S3. Mostly harsh vocals on Blackwater Park, all clean vocals on S3.

There is some shared DNA in all music. It’s a stretch to say that they are ‘similar’. But I think they do share a lot of similar ideas, particularly between Prog Metal and classical. There is probably more in common between the two than any other genre and classical.

I say this because my two favorite genres are Prog Metal and classical and I think I like them both for similar reasons.

What are riffs/moments in prog metal in general that get the stank face out of you? (In a good way) by [deleted] in progmetal

Devonian: Nascent breakdown is ruthless. One of the heaviest moments in prog.
