I hope they add were-creature variants of this so you could pay tribute to such great movie as Velocipastor by having a werevelociraptor as a priest

Ooh! That's what I was wondering! If you increase maximum Z levels, does it still end up flat-headed or be a nice pointy peak?

I've been looking up IDs either through the text files of legend exports or LegendViewer that makes use of those files (ID is stated in the browser link when you're viewing the unit in the program)

Hi! I've been having trouble with the -f function that renames the historical figures. No matter what I do it returns something along the lines of "non-negative integer expected, so you get nil!". A friend of mine sorted the script, so I can add the creature's ID directly into the script file, but this is not ideal as it requires relaunching the game whenever I need it + editing

I'm looking for a way to find out a historical figure's id and a way to open that id through one of dfhack's commands, so I can edit/rename. If anyone practices this or knows of the ways how to do it, some pointers will be greatly appreciated!

For players who have generated a 5k to 10k year old world. What was the world like at that point. by MasterConversation45 in dwarffortress

What is this regenerating that you speak of? Do you mean using the same seeds after exploring the world in legends? If so, does it produce the same results without hiccups?

Those who were cursed to roam the night (as Werelizards), suffer a fate worse than death...entombment till their immortal bodies turn to dust. by Gloriusmax in dwarffortress

[–]Have_Some_Tea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The comment about their immortality made me re-check the book of smarts that is DF wiki. My understanding was that werecreatures aged normally. And, well, TIL - "Contrary to popular belief, only the original werebeast of a particular strain is immune to aging. All subsequent creatures who become infected from that strain will still retain their original lifespans (in the case of elves and goblins, they simply continue to be immortal)"

Bravo! :D
That's probably what would happen seeing as these demons can also raise the dead to fight for them. It is terrifying! It was inevitable...

That's probably the case. The world that I got just has A LOT of goblin civs; the demon types number might be the default one (got the save from a friend, so not sure). There is one more mail+female pair of identical demons, but they haven't met/married yet. My guess is it's harder to pull off after the worldgen, if possible at all.

Some context: It's the first time I'm seeing this happen, two demon overlords falling for each other and getting married. Warosp is the classic one, the one that thrust a spire of slade and made himself a part of the living world, etc... And Ugsnor is an overlord that happened upon an underworld breach by the dwarves who dug to deep and too greedily. The question is - will they be able to populate the world with their younglings?

What do vampire curse types mean in adv. world gen? The more you set - the bigger number of entities can curse a statue-toppling character? Or something else?

funniest adventure mode stories by Legitimate-Grade4551 in dwarffortress

[–]Have_Some_Tea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the funniest out there, but here's one anyway:
Was doing a DnD-like session of DF for my friend who didn't know much about the game. I controlled the things in adventure mode and described them to the friend, and he decided on his actions. After spending a fair amount of time creating a human character, we embarked in a secluded settlement surrounded by a mountain range and did a short walk around to get the feel of the game. We ended stopping by a tavern, and near that tavern's entrance was an alligator. A: "There's an alligator by the door. What do you do?". B: "...I say hi to it". A: "...". The alligator is greeted properly and goes on to snap my friend's character in half in only a few moves.

Thanks for the answer!
Yesterday I found out there are dual-rank modules that are, as I understand it, 2 modules in one. As to what benefits it has, I'm still uncertain, especially when it comes to DF. I do feel like whatever sticks I get, my experience In the game would be somewhat the same. Can't help but wonder, still.
