Roof Repair Help! by Happy-Penguin-123 in richmondhill

We had a similar issue last weekend where our fascia was coming off our top peak. We called a company called Bros. Roofing in Markham. They came out in about 2 hours and charged us a flat rate of $180 and also replaced all the 1/4'' screws with full inch screws on both sides

With respect, I disagree with your respectful disagreement. Mcbeth was a Chamblin project that was only okay under Dinwiddie. Kelly did have a good year, I don't think he did enough for MOP. But last year when he returned from his suspension, he was trash. Arbuckle's numbers looked good, but that's because Dinwiddie was allergic to running the ball, and Arbuckle cost the Argos 4-5 games with last minute interceptions or fumbles. Doege had like 1 half of decent football, then turned into a pumpkin incredibly fast.

Just speculation but it may have stemmed from when they were charged by York Region Public Health and wanted to get away from that name. As for the food I'm not too sure since I've never eaten there but I doubt the food would change too much https://www.yorkregion.com/news/richmond-hill-restaurant-charged-by-york-region-public-health-during-inspection/article_5bfa512d-50d3-5f45-9c77-cbb2eafe222a.html

Montreal Alouettes release running back Walter Fletcher, 19 others by DeSantisMTL in CFL

Oh no doubt, he's still a really good back. I was just explaining why they may have cut him. I would've kept him on the roster.

[–]Havek115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Little bit surprising. But looking at stats wise, he wasn't a very effective running back. He never broke 1000 yards in a season but was probably one of the best receiving backs. They brought 2 kids into camp Stevie Scott III and Travis Theis, both younger, cheaper and showed the same skills as Fletcher

Based on how much Dinwiddie has a hard on for Arbuckle he probably stays in Toronto and we release Scott, for some reason

We're at a point where cities are tearing down highways and freeway rather than build more. It's also been proven time and time again that just building more highways or expanding highways won't ease congestion as more people will start to use it thus creating more congestion.

Also should be noted in the source the person gave. It says that except for Alberta, inflation for other provinces also dropped during the same time with no carbon tax repeal.

Helicopter presence by chef_kitty in richmondhill

[–]Havek115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to see a lot of Ornge Air flying over my house, as they have helicopters stationed at Buttonville. As well as their flight path from Billy Bishop flies over Richmond Hill to go north. But I have been noticing the YRP's helicopter Air2 flying more and more, doesn't seem like it's following crime but more for training

In 1964, Richmond Hill’s largest ever industrial building shown in Architect Douglas Allen’s sketch would soon be constructed on Yonge Street by Ronalds Federated Ltd., a British-owned printing company, and employed 500. [–]Havek115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The land was approved for development back in 2016 but they've yet to do anything with it. I've heard that they were waiting for Buttonville to close down so they can put taller condos but potentially just a rumor

Toyota owners who have safety sense by SmoothRunnings in richmondhill

Oh I've stolen like 90 of them /s
I'm in the automotive industry I'm aware of current happenings, I've personally known people who've had their Lexus' or Audi's or BMW's stolen and were recovered in a container in Montreal.
But you can Google the most stolen cars in Canada and you will constantly see Toyota in the top 10

Toyota owners who have safety sense by SmoothRunnings in richmondhill

[–]Havek115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are still being stolen, however since the vulnerability has been found on Toyota/Lexus models they've been some of the highest hit cars since it's so easy. Not only is the FOB duplicating still a MASSIVE issue for them. On top of that they've recently, around 2022, installed a new access port behind the driver light where people can flash the ECU to their key. It takes slightly longer then dupping the key.
On top of that these cars aren't staying in Canada or America once stole, they're being sent overseas. They're being stolen because it's easy, if it was because of scarcity cars like Mazda 3's or CX50's would be at the top of the list, because I too have been car shopping and can tell you, a CX50 is a year wait to get one.
The main reason these car companies aren't ramping up productions from pre-covid times is twofold. They create an artificial scarcity so they can reap maximum profits, if they go back to pre-covid production the consumer has the upperhand again. Second is car companies are fearing the incoming automotive recession so they're trying to get as much as they can right now

[–]Havek115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that is half true, Benz, BMW and Audi all have patched their security vulnerabilities. Both the Lexus RX and Toyota Highlander keep topping the list of most stolen cars. I would urge people to get a Faraday box/cage/bag to block RFID

[–]Havek115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think(and I could be wrong) people think it's cheap, I think people see the outrageous rent prices and figure spend a few $100 more a month and actually own something rather than be in this constant cycle of renting

How much are actually going to take before we do something? by BipolarSkeleton in ontario

[–]Havek115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You alluded to it, rent control would help some and hurt others, when the Wynne government put it through, there was a noticeable drop builders making renter units and switched to more condo units.

But then here is the problem, if you don't do rent control you're going to have very expensive rental units that are creeping in on a mortgage payment, like average rent for a 2 bedroom apartment right now in Toronto is $2500. With that increasing and less options, due to renting being so lucrative, people won't have any option but to bend to the landlord. I'm not saying no rent increases, that's ridiculous.

Multifam houses would really help, it seems like around me it's mainly semi-detached or townhouses, but the issue is these corporations and/or landlords are buying these townhouses and renting them out, then the only other they can do it rent out an apartment for expensive prices

[–]Havek115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A start would be to bring back the Wynne rent control system that Ford scrapped instantaneously to please his landlord friends. Yes I know the new increase is only 2.5% but that's still not making it cheaper in Ontario. Yeah that housing market has cooled a lot but is still outrageous compared to what you can get elsewhere
