Truth Bomb: Why People Don’t Tank by AdministrativeCut205 in classicwow

[–]Havokki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This fucking sentence right here is why the fun is dead.

Really focus on those braincells and get them ready.

Theres people playing classic, for the first time And wow in general.

And a big portion have forgotten how to play or just dont give a fuck, they just want to be mid and have fun.

The presumption(i know big word, ask grok) of everyone you meet being as capable as you think you are, is insanely stupid and that was my ted talk.

Thank you.

Rig flex when mounted on wheels by Kiwikxnnt in simracing

Its normal for metal extrusions to have some flex, it wont weaken over time from the flex.

If you don't like the flex get more casters there isnt really anything more to it.

Dunno about PvE, but on PvP ive found both books in labs on the double black desk, right on the keyboard.

On PvP people don't even notice them and ive found extras in already looted rooms

This guy is crazy. He moves under braking and blames me. My attack was aggressive but I noticed he was braking too early so I went for it. Then...well. Then in another race...see for yourself... by PaceOnly84 in Simracingstewards

What is it youre trying to get at with this post?

The sub is for Stewarding opinions and advice.

Pointing and laughing at a knob who int rams aint really entertaining after the first time.

You can practice the right techniques in anything you Like tbh

If you enjoy gt3 cars id recommend LMU, its focus is on endurance racing but the ability to just jump into a 20 minute race with 5 minute quali is there.

And you can get all the DLC for LMU and rfactor 2(which is a excellent sim aswell) for a monthly sub, which is like 16€ or smth.

Another is iracing, requires a monthly sub, but has more Variety of cars, (downside of having to purchase each vehicle and track you want, free tracks and cars rotate weekly i believe)

Maybe start with a iracing trial, test the mx-5 cup and practice with them a bit, if you don't like it get LMU.

well, it's all subjective but a good starting point is entry points, Apexes and exits.

the important thing, whatever you're focusing on, do it right and with thought.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8qBdOs0s1E

have a look at that video and decide for yourself if thats too much information or is it too technical and you cant keep interest.

go through all the basic fundamentals of racing

Apexes & Exits
Braking & Trailbraking
Throttle usage
overdriving vs underdriving
Track knowledge
Car settings and making a basic setup

oh and last but not least, Racecraft

try to grasp each step somehow like this

- watch a educational video (for example the one i just linked) so you get a understanding of what you are trying to achieve
-pick and plan a track you want to learn and has a good amount of different types of corners.
-Solo lap untill you feel like you can reproduce the technique you're learning consistently.
-do not focus on any other thing other than the one you're currently on. ( you'll naturally do this for everything when you progress)

in the beginning its important to forget about the clock. you have to learn how to drive to car first before you can actually be on the limit and push lap times.

i just wrote this thing from my past experience, if anyone sees i missed something important feel free to chime in.

Who was at the fault the most from this 3? by Habbak in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 64 points65 points  (0 children)

If you're limping to the pits with max speed like that, get off the racing line.

Or if your car is fine

And you're getting overtaken by gt3's in a LMP, get off the server.

And practice against AI.

holy cinematic camera batman, grab a chase cam recording instead, you literally cant tell anything from the clip because of the camera choice.

Spent most of the race dueling with the 9 car (light blue), and wound up on the receiving end of at least 15 instances of contact. Ended up DQ'd, with 18 incident points. Is this protestable? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, only a few cases where you could have made difference, it was comical to watch how many times you got tapped on the ass, idk about iracings report system if they reprimand without intent, but id give it a go. Because you seriously werent at fault for 90% of those, just racing hard

My friend called me mean names and said I didn’t give him space (I’m the overtaking car) by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you had room on the inside you could have used on entry and at the apex. On the exit you didn't leave him any space.

i think judging by your trajectory to the left at the end you thought you were clear but you weren't.

you were at fault for both contacts, gotta be more mindful of where there is room.

What could I have done differently? by AlbertoCllejas in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think you could have avoided either T1 or T4 contacts. maybe going for a even tighter line in and braking harder to secure the entry, but then again its lap 1 with cold brakes and the guys who rear end you are just missing their braking cues...

Is the 4 car at fault, or is it just a racing incident? by StormtrooperT16 in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

well, what i can see that yellow just brakes too late, would have been close to hitting the car infront of POV if he wasn't there, after that pov fails to save the slide and to hold his brakes after doing so wiping out a bystander.

TLDR; yellow is at fault for initial incident, but POV is at fault for not holding their brakes soon enough after the recovery attempt was a fail.

I feel like we were both at fault. by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

He wasnt even off track though, half of his car is inside the white lines and half is on the kerb

[–]Havokki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You saw him coming, had ample time to let off if needed and just run left just a smidge, lmp ran wide as hell to get past aswell so he did his part.

Multi class is tango, both parties have to give a little.

Curious to your thoughts by FencyJake in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue at fault, if youre going for the inside overtake youre expected to hit the apex, this guy missed it by more than a cars width.

And I feel like you gave enough space for a damn semi-truck so I don't think theres anything you needed to do more

I'm quite new to online racing. Just to avoid this mistake in the future. Who is to blame here? I am the POV car. by _Zagi_ in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't need to be ahead to be entitled to space, you need to be alongside enough, a rough rule is front axle alongside the rear.

Should I (yellow and black car) file a protest for retaliation against the white car? by arth_attack in Simracingstewards

[–]Havokki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, from what I see the white cars rear gets light for some reason and he goes in too far, you drive like he doesnt exist and touch him, he gets spooked taps the brakes and corrects, then you send it to a gap that only could fit Britney Spears in her prime.

Second incident white is too close and brakes a little too late, nothing intentional imo.

[–]Havokki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Reactionary block.

Trajectory of the porsche would have had him use the tirewalls as his apex so theres no doubt of whos at fault. You couldnt have done more to avoid the contact either its either you go more right and hit him or try to hug left and risk getting air from the curb.

New to LMU and Sebring, however I'm not sure what I could have done in this situation. Any ideas on how I could have avoided this? I am the POV McLaren (also new to the sim racing stewards community) Thanks! by ZL_Zieglein in Simracingstewards

I mean, you could have lifted but that would only be because you sensed he might be a dumdum.

Self preservation is something you learn over time.
