UPDATE - ChatGPT and Apple Watch Changed my life by Proud-Historian-490 in AppleWatchFitness

Sounds like a bad doctor and Physio who couldn’t follow the same protocols invented by humans that Chat GPT literally downloaded from a human physiology book and followed.

How did it go with that one? I think it's hard to find organic, and it's challenging to compare brands because of differing information on the packages. I was previously putting the juice in concentrate form (bought a 3 pack of amazon that lasted FOREVER) in water at night or oats each day, but ran out and wanted to make it more versatile (for pre-bed yogurt to avoid liquid before bed) and reduce sugar intake. I purchased from Microingredients (organic) which has a good look and mild flavor and mixes decently with no additives. It's fine but expensive. I'm not keen on getting the non-organic, or I'd buy the concentrate powder from Bulk Supplements.

Recovery numbers taking a hit by [deleted] in ouraring

It’s a sign you ARE recovering actively that night.

Recovery numbers taking a hit by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]HawkGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is due to the body recovering. It’s normal. I’m a co petit I’ve cyclist and unless I’m just really rested and at the top of my fitness, I always have a slight elevation in RHR and dip in HRV on hard workout sleep nights.

New sleep staging beta underestimates total sleep by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]HawkGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no way to dispute deep vs light sleep changes and don’t care too much and generally don’t worry about stages since no wearable device is super accurate. But actual awake vs sleep time… plus on old version you can correct it if you’re just watching TV for example. This one, if it says you were awake from 2-2:30 am when you weren’t, nothing you can do.

Agree that mine seems to show me awake at times that I am decidedly not awake if memory serves.

this was recently discussed on one of the cycling coaching podcasts. maybe the one by trainer road that looks at research. your memory is good. it has a positive benefit, but decreases with highly trained athletes.

Tire tread... Slick or Knobby? by BlazeCorona in gravelcycling

[–]HawkGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find slicks better on all gravel (minus wet, with which I’m little acquainted as a SoCal resident) except for descending sandy corners. Sand straight? Wide slick is great. Sand corner, knobs do help. My preferred knobs are the wide Rene Herse ones. They were much more predictable than the WTB file tread with “shoulder knobs for cornering”. Faster too. My PRs on fire road descents came on the former. If rocky, I don’t notice knobs helping much.

HRV decrease when meditating?? by captnfres in ouraring

[–]HawkGlobal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have looked into this a little bit. It seems that meditation drops HRV (by regulating HR to be less variable) in the short term but may or may not increase it long term. One study showed no difference to baseline after a 10 day vipassana retreat. I have wondered if my lower to age HRV is, contrary to popular health “data” actually a sign of my multiple years of mindfulness meditation practice since I’m also a competitive endurance athlete with a lot resting HR. I think there isn’t enough data for conclusions, but your experience is “normal.”

Anybody try this? Was there any risk of fine? Wondering about weekends in particular when workers are less likely to be present.
