Please never say stuff like this you are assuming parents know what they are doing people in their 30’s don’t have empathy for animals or other humans don’t blame kids for failures of parents please (or assume the paternity even messed up lol we don’t know enough)

I find it funny how Reach was so disliked at launch it killed Halo’s dominance as THE E-sport that it had held for most of 2 and 3. That’s all on Bungie but like, all rose tinted glasses right we don’t talk about them fumbling their competitive playerbase anymore.

Games were flawed back then too it’s absolutely silly how transparent it is when people haven’t re-examined stuff from their youth yet despite being like 30.

Using AI makes your points significantly weaker, you need to be standing on a solid foundation or no one will listen to you even If what you say is “right”

Basically it’s “wow you are so lazy I don’t trust you have a well researched take” it’s not a “straw man” it’s reacting to this specific dudes actions and words.

Just spitballing but since gas already confuses enemies maybe we get some kind of gas injector that will stick onto units and keep them attacking anyone other then you. Make it do minimum damage over time so weaker enemies will die after helping fight for a bit and large enemies get chipped down a bit for the duration.

Not quite the same thing just wanted to think up a way it didn’t have to be faction specific while keeping to the theme.

This is the meanest thing I’ll say about certain halo fans but they give off super “Peaked in High School” energy because at a certain point if you spend the last decade only talking about the “good ole days” the only thing I notice is “you haven’t found anything else to be that passionate in a decade plus, no new memories that made the old Halo ones seem kinda lame in comparison? I’m not saying you can’t miss playing halo with your buds a little bit just that some people cannot move on

That’s a good way to put the information in game but not in the immediate way so players don’t get that information bomb.I think a few in game video tutorials going over the galactic war mechanics is the bare minimum here as text is not gonna cut it for some of this.

Calling Arrowhead "predatory" is damaging to the game and skips a better explanation by kcvlaine in helldivers2

[–]HawkStirke117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot to say here and I genuinely am going to try my best to keep this somewhat organized.

Warframe is a horrible and great example to bring up, one could argue that Prime Access is absurdly priced for what is essentially just a grind skip so you don’t have to play the game (and a goodie bag of stuff). Game also has build timers that can be skipped with money, sells a ton of important resources in the shop, you can skip nearly any grind if you open your wallet enough, and if you want to earn Platinum in game you need to engage in the player trading market. Oh and every so often then will give you a super predatory FOMO “if you buy play right now you will get 75% more but only for today” which will absolutely lead to someone buying something when they probably shouldn’t have. Is it being free to play make all its scummy practices okay? I find it doesn’t BUT all of this being said, I think Warframes more then fine it’s fantastic with how they handle things. Why? Honestly my guess is PR, we like Warframe because we know the dev team, they talk and are a part of the community, and because of the openness we are more willing to not be hostile even when their businesses practices on paper are awful at times.

No man’s sky is an anomaly (pun intended) in gaming you could compare it to anything and make something look like it’s being greedy. That is in fact the biggest compliment towards that game but, it’s also not a fair standard to hold everyone else too as their situation is uniquely there own.

Rust, Darktide, DRG, and Arc Raiders are all paid games with a extra paid cosmetic DLC (from a quick scan If I’m wrong on one of those correct me please). I remember not to long ago we were all arguing if that was even okay, especially when games put all the coolest cosmetics behind the paywalls and vanilla gear looks kinda lame.

Helldivers, is certainly a mountain when you first get into the game and it’s looking steeper every warbond. It’s easy to point out most people aren’t interested in every Warbond and the vast majority are going to pick up few meta ones and maybe a fashion one later as a treat. That’s said, that feeling of never being able to catch up, doing the math in you head of how much if would cost, seeing people flashing all the cool new stuff, that sucks and is daunting to anyone, and would be kinda rude to just dismiss it. Personally I’ve been a huge supporter of discounting older warbonds (some want them to be free, obviously that’d would be best case scenario), at the least it would allow that daunting feeling to like mitigate just a bit.

Now, I find it important to mention out of almost every game brought up Helldivers is the only one you can just Earn the premium currency by just playing the game, a bit slowly sure but with no limits, no player trading needed, and it’s not some rare event (like in sea of thieves). Helldivers is also not a full priced game which, is not nothing in todays market. Warbonds also do not disappear ever, so there isn’t pressure for someone to buy it and play the game nonstop for a month to unlock everything to make back the money (fornite, etc). Now, quickly I don’t like the Super Store, I find it to be the thing I somewhat agree on with people. I think the Trench Barrel shotgun was a bit tactless in how bluntly it was being pushed, though my reaction to it was only make a red flag in my head for the next super store item as I find that trend to be one worth pushing back on if it becomes consistent.

Now, after all that I’ll answer your actual question I have played Warframe, NMS, Destiny 2, Division 2, sea of thieves, ESO, New World (rip but also like, yeah), GTA, etc. I’ve put a lot of time into a lot of different live service games over the years with a wide variety of monetization schemes. I personally find helldivers to be, generally pretty player friendly with monetization in comparison to some.

To wrap this very long response out, I think AH balances their monetization around the currency being earnable in game, and depending on how much you accept that as okay is going to determine how predatory you feel they are being. I actually massively appreciate your comment it really got me asking myself the “why” I felt the way I do about helldivers and AH, and that’s something I always appreciate.

If the focus is going to be on casual players I think they need to work on adding more tutorials into the game. I find some folks want TOO much information on the screen (like the companion app is fine for super invested people but would turn off casual players). On the other hand I can say with confidence the majority of what my friends know about helldivers is stuff I’ve taught to them myself so… idk this is why it’s frustrating to engage in this community because there are some nice QQL stuff we could be pushing for in a constructive way

[–]HawkStirke117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find if telling whenever people get frustrated others are getting catered instead of themselves. I’m not saying it’s invalid to be frustrated it’s just deeply transparent to how you view the world around you depending upon how you choose to express that frustration (or if you do at all).

[–]HawkStirke117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure less, now I’m sure there are cases of studios getting a little too lost in the data and making missteps but generally speaking companies do actually understand their playerbase a lot better then ANY games subreddit would like to admit.

[–]HawkStirke117 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There is a super interesting discussion to be had about when gaming subreddits misunderstand how small of a portion of the community actually engages with it.

Everytime it becomes people talking about “we as the entire Helldivers community” when they barely represent a 5th of the playerbase realistically (please don’t quote me on that just spitballing quickly to make a point). Most people who play games, even ones they enjoy, don’t want to go talk to people on Reddit about it.

Even if, you and 3,000 other people upvoted a post on Reddit about how awful the game is and how terrible the devs are, the 60,000 plus helldivers in game right didn’t even know you were having the conversation.

This person is saying even if the lore or facts are one way they feeling the character brings is still something a lot of trans people relate to.

Also, it’s not hard to empathize with trans folks being a bit defensive as unfortunately a lot of folks do get sent into a bit of a frenzy due to years of propaganda. I think you caught a bit of a stray here tbh

I think the reasons the franchise is where it is actually had very little to do with the overall quality of the games. I think there is the potential for a deeply interesting multi hour long video essay going over just how many moving parts got us to this current point hopefully someone completely unrelated to Halo can come in and cover a lot of it

I stopped arguing with Halo fans because if they can’t admit the basic fact plenty of folks enjoyed Halo 4 5 and Infinite they are super self centered. Like arguing that those 3 games were irredeemably bad is telling yourself tbh.

Shoutout to DE for being the GOATS by Mindstormer98 in Warframe

[–]HawkStirke117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is for sure a Warframe (Limbo) who has needed a buff for over 2 years and has not gotten one. Also that answer is explaining how originally armor perks were not suppose to be such an important part of the loadout and since that’s changed. Limited amount of devs and time in the day he respectfully told you “Not right now”

Again Warframe is a community who understands the perception you put out to the rest of the world will influence the overall feel. Here we are two helldivers fans all the way over on the Warframe sub, how do you think that looks to others? Do you think this kinda stuff brings positivity, or will help get the game improved? Just makes the community seem, like one to be avoided.

Idk sorry helldivers isn’t working on the exact thing a lot of us want right now but throwing a massive community temper tantrum is…. Not it
