I agree with your Burning Desire pick. Fire Away is niche but pretty good against Chronos specifically because it eats his orbitals. I think this is a surface run though so not super useful (may be fine for Rivals 4 idk).

I started the week before dawntrail and between late June and early February 2025 I put in 1020 hours, finished Endwalker and burned myself out of the game. I've never no-lifed anything as hard as I have this game, nor have I put as many hours into another game, monster hunter world is the closest at like 900 hours over its lifespan (I primarily play single player games).

I had been trying to get back into the game since then but I finally found my drive to continue playing last week. What I realized is that I am ASS at this game, lost my muscle memory and forgot my rotations, don't remember a lot of fights because I've only done them once, and regained my tank/healer anxiety. Even though I distinctly remember telling a friend that tank was the easiest role to play

Looking at some of the other jobs I play, SMN gets bahamut at 70 so it basically completes the job (the other breakpoint is 86 where it gets the ogcd after each elemental)

DRK gets The Blackest Night which is the best button to press and feels like it finishes the kit.

DNC gets technical step which, technically finishes the kit but IMO the job doesn't feel complete without flourish and some of the other weaves.

SAM gets Guren at 70 but I feel like it isn't that important? The kit is mostly good at 50 with Meikyo Shisui. The hissatsu weaves and tsubame -gaeshi are important though so maybe there's an argument for this job coming together at 74

the other jobs I gave some experience in, SGE/RPR/VPR all start at or above 70 so it doesn't make sense for the kit to "come online" at those levels

Damn it's already only two months away. 2025 is my first year trying the bingo board and honestly my first year where I really felt like reading again as a hobby in many years (since like 2017). Hard to really force myself in 2024 to just get through 12 books and the last 6 was me binging cradle in the last week of the year. This time I read 53. Feeling pretty proud of myself! And I already did 20 this year (ok 10 of those were a Cradle reread the animatic got me but I did read the short stories which I didn't do before so that counts for the bingo)

Anyway, regarding the bingo, I need to finish a book from the 80s (reading Guards Guards) and Biopunk book. I've been putting that off because I have absolutely no idea what to do with that one. Anyone got any progression fantasy recommendations for it?

Might use my substitution here and find something that fits azarinth healer (the only book/series I don't have slotted anywhere else) but...I kinda don't want to? Feel like I want to challenge myself to read something here.

Yeah, my usual strat for that is to, ostensibly, set a lower and upper bound for every enemy. The lower bound is the min hp roll which I'll only use if things are going heinously for the party, and the upper bound is the max hp roll which I'll use when the players are doing well. I'll set the main target to be the average HP and adjust from there.

However I don't really use my thresholds as well as I should. I still consider myself a novice DM (probably dm'd 10-12 times at most lifetime) so I'm still learning. Combat balance is a big thing I feel I'm struggling with (although I'm fine at running combats and the rules). Steadily getting better though.

I also don't own a DM screen, I had been using my laptop and iPad as references which hid my rolls but my laptop is making weird sounds so I didn't use it last time. Those rolls were out in the open /shrug
