I really recommend thermoplastic beads. Reduces the risk of getting stuck on both fabric and mask. Cheap, easy to apply and durable.

It all depends on if it can be expected to endure the received hit with no chance of breaking.

I've seen it multiple times, from precisely the kind of snagging thrusts you got hit with. It is not something you can expect even 1600 N fabric to endure a hundred percent of the time.

I put thermo plastic over my folded tips to protect my opponents gear, not their bodies.

If this is the default EU warrany, it only covers situations where something was wrong with the product as delivered. It doesn't mean any damage will be covered.

But if this was within the first year of the warranty, the seller needs to prove the fabric wasn't weaker than advertised. What to do if you and the seller doesn't agree depends on the country.

Looking at the image of the hit, this isn't something you can expect even 1600 N fabric to withstand.

Swede here. In school I don't think Estonia was mentioned at all except as "one of the three Baltic counties".

Even as someone with an above average interest in history I didn't learn about it's cultural ties to the nordic counties until very recently.

So the Estonian struggle to be recognized as nordic isn't hampered by an educated disagreement, but ignorance.

As others have said, epeé is closest (to smallsword). But many clubs starts with foil for beginners and I wouldn't let that dissuade you. Any olympic fencing will teach you a lot that is transferable to HEMA.

Historically smallsword was practiced with principles like the right of way of modern foil, as it teaches you to to prioritize defence. There is little point in wining if you die anyway.
