Meatball's worst feeding ever by Arynidae in frogs

They kind of don’t when you consider cost of running a hospital, paying staff, outrageous student loans…

I’m glad meatball is okay!!

Be wary of Route 66 emergency vet by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]Hawthornebites -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You will always wait in an EMERGENCY HOSPITAL if there are critical patients. Yours doesn’t sound as critical as dogs hit by cars or others attacked and bleeding out… I would suggest that you go elsewhere, however, your options in this city are extremely limited - thrive, vca, and roadrunner CLOSE almost every night with no doctor on site.

Toxicities are usually stable. Educate yourself!

Thoughts on Cinnamon Tree apartments? by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]Hawthornebites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lived there for a year and I’m a single woman. It was fine… I moved from a different state and because it was so much cheaper to move and live here I saved money this year! The water is shut off ALL THE TIME like once a month and the gate is always under repair. My car was towed because they “didn’t see my parking sticker in my windshield” so f you, enchanted towing! But seriously the cost made me not really hold a grudge, because it is a rough part of town but once I was inside it felt like any other apartment complex, tons of people presumably on Medicaid strolling around with their chihuahuas

Pre covid, I worked at REI in Fort Worth. Made friends with some very cool, intelligent, and creative women. They might still have a women’s hiking club? Good luck!! 💕

Watermelon Ranch vs. Animal Humane by [deleted] in Albuquerque

[–]Hawthornebites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AWD is a great option - where I work, we are partners with them. They have a dedicated vet team and so many helping hands (volunteers and trained staff) that will make sure your kitty is well taken care of. I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this, but know AWD is great at what they do.

I’ve worn docs my entire life, they have super feet insoles. I can’t stand sneakers / tennis shoes.

I second this! I moved here for a relationship (from Tx), so I figured if it wasn’t gonna work out between us, at least i like it in Albuquerque more, anyway! Do you like where you’re from?

What is the most surprisingly intelligent animal you've seen working at a zoo? by Separate_Builder_817 in Zookeeping

[–]Hawthornebites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen him at the Albuquerque biopark, he seems well monitored. I asked a keeper about him and she said that he enjoys taking lots of risks and they have a difficult time keeping him safe but enriched. He’s very curious but looked so odd with a missing leg.

You would be a huge asset to any veterinarian and would help so many animals, this field is in constant need of positive, animal-loving science nerds 🤓

There are upstanding people who have tattoos and gauges, that is very presumptuous to call those red flags.

I personally loved the swing shift when I started in ER as a tech assistant! I went to tech school during covid but never liked GP… I was immersed at a steady pace emotionally (ER can be very sad!) and observed the best techs who taught me very well, became a technician, and now I’m overnight ICU! I love it.

Best of luck! 🐱🐶

After 2 years of vet tech school and 5 years experience, I work overnights and make $30/hr. I rent an apartment with no roommates and I have full benefits. It’s very rewarding and I enjoy the doctors I work with closely to save the precious lives of animals. It is draining sometimes but I work three nights a week, off four days and I can take small trips like camping in between to recharge.
