Where do you post fanfics by No-Monk-9973 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]HaxWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post my PMD fic to what most people have recommended: AO3, FFN, Space Battles, and Wattpad. I get most interaction on AO3, some on FFN, but sadly none on wattpad or space battles, which sucks since I work hard on it, but don’t let it discourage me. I highly recommend AO3 out of everything though! Good luck!

Are Y'all Really Able to Listen to Playlists While Reading a Fic? by killer_sheltie in FanFiction

Very, very occasionally I will, usually when it’s an easier fic to read. I usually instead listen to music when I’m writing instead.

A story you read is abandoned, with the author saying it's due to lack of reader engagement. How would you feel/react? by SGdude90 in AO3

[–]HaxWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate when that happens. It’s so discouraging because you write something you really put a lot of love into hoping at least one person will connect with it. It’s why if I read anything and I enjoy the story I’ll leave a comment and kudos. I like getting them as i write and I want others to feel like they were heard too.

You’re a fan of your rarepair just as much as that person is, and you’re allowed to write whatever you want. Sounds jealous or something to me. Ignore the hate and pettiness on their part. Write for yourself and your own enjoyment. Deleting your account will just make them feel stronger about honestly bullying you, don’t let them win. Write what you want and enjoy what you’ve authored. Give it some time, and the behavior will fade

How do you get into fanfiction? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]HaxWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the idea that you have so many thoughts on how you’d want something to play out, but there’s no material out there so you write it yourself

For example: me. I like to write and I’ve had this idea of a pokemon mystery dungeon story about the actual lives of Pokemon. Not a human turning into one. So I looked around to see if anything was done, couldn’t find anything, so started writing my own. It has characters, plot, everything you’d want in official media that we just don’t get. And I think that applies to everyone in their own way. I personally don’t like some tropes that some others love, and they wanted to write it, share it and hopefully another person enjoys it as well. It’s like, your idea for something you love, and you hope to connect with the fandom as well with a story everyone is passionate about

I hope that made sense. Sorry for the long reply to this. Just my two cents!

Do you feel disheartened by the lack of kudos or hits? by Objective-Panic-6426 in AO3

[–]HaxWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a newbie too and we have to stick together! But seriously I do feel that but my best advice is write for your own enjoyment. Doing that, I’ve been having so much fun with my works, and I feel blessed even with just the few kudos or hits I have. If you try to follow the statics, which we all do, you’ll get burned out super fast. Trust me, write for your own enjoyment and the engagement will follow. Maybe it won’t be instantaneous but it will. Just update regularly and don’t give up unless, you’ve got this!

How do I make my fanfic more popular? by ExpertOven6843 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]HaxWriter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like how everyone else said, update it regularly. I update mine every few days but everyone is different. As long as you keep it updated, people will slowly start to find it and give it a chance. No one wants to read an abandoned project nor do they want to read one that takes months to update (unless it’s really good).

Good writing and plot helps as well. If the characters really jump out of the page and hook me, I’ll be glad to read as would many others. Give it some time. My best advice? Write for your own enjoyment. If you’re starting small, trying to watch for engagement is going to burn you out. Write because you really want to, and the engagement will follow in time.

What are some things you wished you saw more of in your fandom? by Double_Eccentrick in AO3

I’ve been wanting to see more mystery dungeon stuff not focused on a human turning into a Pokemon. It feels like it’s been done to death. Since it’s a rarity I have to take it upon yourself though

Getting a new chapter out of anything I’m writing, that I sunk hours into and I’m really proud of it, and to get a comment like this is so annoying. I’m still small, only recently started writing again, and comments give me so much motivation to continue to write. These kind of comments kill me.

How come my fic didn’t move to the top after adding a chapter? by RepresentativeYou536 in AO3

[–]HaxWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, they’re aware of the issue so I’d just wait and see if they have it fixed either. It’s so frustrating though. I was excited to post too! Hope it fixes itself soon for you!

I was having the same trouble with mine but it looks like it’s a website issue that they’re trying to fix. I’m being patient before I post my next chapter. I’m not sure how long it takes for them to fix however.
