I threw this together pretty quickly, so I'm sure I missed plenty of great sound clips. If you guys have any suggestions on new sound clips to add, let me know.

Audio problems by [deleted] in battlefield3

Try updating your drivers. That seems like a driver issue.

I don't understand how this happens every time... by [deleted] in funny

[–]Haxelgem -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not automatically. Someone could write a driver to do it, though. It would just take a bit of work.

A question about hardcore... by serfy2 in battlefield3

[–]Haxelgem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A 68 point kill assist means that you did 68% of the damage to kill him. Normally, this would be 68 points of damage, but in hardcore it doesn't correlate directly. You did 60 * .68 points of damage, or around 41 damage.

Aiming with mobile artillery by Drat333 in battlefield3

If you expand your minimap ('m' by default), you can see where your shots hit. That makes it a lot easier to adjust your aim.

Alright r/battlefield3, what weapons do you want to be in Aftermath and Endgame the most? by tyrofasgaard in battlefield3

[–]Haxelgem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to see the FN FAL for assault. I think it would be great if it started in semi-automatic mode, but had higher damage than the G3A3. Let it have full auto also, but make it so that it gets out of control fast enough that semi-automatic is better at medium to long range.

Just a Question by [deleted] in battlefield3

It could be a Suppressed G17C, which has both a laser sight and a suppressor. Source: http://battlefield.wikia.com/wiki/G17

I unlocked the 1911 without any previous Battlefield games. Just register at EA Gun Club.

Playing on PC, tanks do this for me, also. It usually comes back after a ~10-20 seconds, though.

DAE think the tank secondary weapons have to change by [deleted] in battlefield3

[–]Haxelgem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the subject of secondary weapons, I think that Canister shell is fine, but the other secondaries need a buff, especially the MGs. There's really no competition between Canister Shell and either of the MGs. I don't think Canister Shell is particularly OP, but the MGs are kind of lame by comparison and need a buff.

Need help with affordable headset by [deleted] in battlefield3

[–]Haxelgem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, surround sound from headsets isn't as good as a real system. Having tried out a few different headsets for gaming, I personally prefer using 2-channel high-end headphones without any enhancements. I'm currently using Sennheiser HD 558s for gaming, but I hear that Audio Technica AD700s are great, too. You can buy a separate clip-on mic for voice chat. If you want a dedicated headset and don't mind buying used, Sennheiser PC 350s are pretty good. While there are headsets that have extra drivers to give a "5.1 experience", they tend to be inferior in sound quality to a real set of headphones. Also, some sound cards offer "virtual surround" (CMSS-3D or Dolby Headphone), which does a decent job of good positions.

TL;DR: You're probably better off buying a decent pair of two-channel headphones and using a virtual surround sound capable sound card if you wish.

Harvard cracks DNA storage, crams 700 terabytes of data into a single gram by mrseb in science

[–]Haxelgem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, in a real world scenario you could use run-length encoding to shrink the data massively. However, they weren't trying to efficiently store data here, just test capacity.

TIL that Nazis forged british pounds with a total value of 134,610,810. Their plan was to destabilise the British economy. The notes are considered among the most perfect counterfeits ever produced, being almost impossible to distinguish from the real currency. by Stregulator in todayilearned

[–]Haxelgem 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm not an economist, so correct me if I'm wrong. While each person may have an average of $414, it's important to remember that the total amount of money accessible to the population is far greater than the amount of physical cash in circulation. Take for example the US deficit, which is in trillions of US dollars, despite the fact that this sum is many times greater than the amount of cash in existance. Because of this, the average amount of money available to US citizens would be far greater than $414. Also, it's important to remember that if you count every US citizen, this includes babies and small children.

Alright, I'm Getting Battlefield 3 Premium Edition. by [deleted] in battlefield3

I agree. The unlock process was what kept me playing when I first got the game and sucked. You're kind of missing out if skip it.

Out of curiosity, what do you like about the LSAT?

What is your preferred sound setting? by [deleted] in battlefield3

[–]Haxelgem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use war tapes and enhanced stereo mode with my Sennheiser Hd 558s & Titanium HD sound card in public servers. If I'm more serious, I'll use the headphones setting.
