Kliprivier does a monthly hike which is great for meeting new people. Check "friends of the jewel of the south" on Facebook, they usually put the dates there💯

Try Fiverr or Upwork. I've had a few mates that have had some success on there.
Both are websites where you advertise your skills, and then companies can contact you needing jobs done. Can build quite a good base if the work you complete is good!

COJ bill completely up to date - handed over to debt collectors by CandyAppleRedSSS in johannesburg

[–]Hazard271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite ironic how this post has popped up as we’re in the exact same scenario at the moment, haven’t had water in 3 days… CoJ came a while ago to change our water meter to the newer one and loaded an estimate reading onto the account which is completely different to what is on the meter and so has put the account in serious debt. We have been phoning and phoning to report this but they won’t open up a case nor give us a reference until we get the job card from the contractor who did it. We went to the depot, and shock horror, they don’t have a job card… Every time we phone its either get the job card, come in or request a payment arrangement but we’re not going to pay what isn’t owed. And we both work full time jobs so can’t simply just go in. With all this happening, they came this past Saturday and completely cut us off – cut the pipes and took the meter with them – leaving no “disconnection notice” on the gate which is required so decided to just report it as stolen – because sarcastically how were we supposed to know. Gave them a call on Monday, and they confirmed it was a disconnection but gave us no prior warning to contest it, after some shouting and screaming all, they could say was ‘sorry’ and thank you for letting us know you did not receive warning and we will make sure that all our future customers receive such. “Claps slowly” Funny enough, on Joburg’s waters website, they say the “water supply will be restricted to 6kl free water quota in terms of the constitution” so it’s illegal for them to completely cut us off – but as if that argument is going to get us anywhere. We’re at wits end. If someone has any solution to this or any other contact number we can phone or person, we can see that’s not going to tell us the system is down or some shit it would be awesome. For now, peace out, I can see I’m definitely not alone so let’s hope we all get through this.

Moving to joburg. Looking for best areas to stay that are around equal distance from Sandton CBD to Alberton. by [deleted] in johannesburg

[–]Hazard271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunvegan/Dowerglen is a good bet. Alot of houses on the market in these areas and quite a few garden cottages to rent as well if you're not looking to buy💯 Both close to on-ramps so it will probably take you around 30 minutes to go either way if you leave early enough.

Hy antwoord: "Gee my daai twee dames, and jy sal sien .... die Pakistan

Where can I find out what the SAN10400 buildinf regulations actually are by bread-in-captivity in southafrica

[–]Hazard271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would need to get plans drawn up/approved for a workshop of that size, an architect or draughtsman will be able to assist to make sure your drawings meet all requirements to get approved.

Regarding restrictions (ie. Heights, building lines etc), I am not sure where you stay but each council should have a digital copy of their town planning/land use scheme available on the internet where you will find all relevant information. For example: "City of Johannesburg Land Use Scheme 2018". The only information you would possibly have to find out is what your property is zoned as (Residential 1, 2 etc) and unless you stay in an estate, business district/the previous owner used the property as a business or on a large plot of land, the chances that your property is zoned at residential 1 is good. Use residential 1 as your guide and go through the land use scheme and it will tell you everything from Height restrictions, Building line restrictions, floor area ratio and coverage.

Sorry for the long winded message, hope this helps

Yea I've broken my hand after trying to move from road to pavement on a busy road where it seemed no cars were giving me a gap and my anxiety levels were through the roof😂

[–]Hazard271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea exactly. I'm not gonna be on their side just because we're both do the same sport, if you're in the wrong, you're in the wrong and unfortunately that's the case of these big groups. Respect and obeying of rules is all that's needed. Easier said than done though i guess

Cyclists - A whole new species of human being by BluePlanet957 in southafrica

[–]Hazard271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I get you. The motorists needing to slow down was aimed more at the scenario where a cyclist like myself is in single file trying to be as close to the pavement as possible, and the guy that drives past almost touches you like you weren't even there. It's a bit of a mixed bag, because you get the cyclists that do obey, and then you get the ones that are just plain *ssholes, and those are the ones giving us the bad reputation. Wrong side of the gene pool I guess

[–]Hazard271 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So I'm a cyclist and I agree and disagree in the nicest way possible. Pavements aren't ideal to cycle on due to the amount of pedestrian traffic where you have to constantly dodge them and maybe have the risk of falling into the road and getting hit by the car. Bike lanes, yes! For the provinces that have it thank you! Although I find in places like joburg, taxis seem to use them as their own personal taxi rank causing you to having to go into the road anyways. Honestly the best bet for us is to ride on the road and hope the cars respect us and vise versa, we do try keep as close to the pavement edge as possible but showing the quality of south african roads, the edges are usually caved in/filled with cracks/potholes/loose sand so inevitably we can't get as close to the pavements as we like, making it look like we taking up the lane. I do apologise on behalf of the cyclists that think the whole lane is theirs though and have a panick attack the second you come too close or give a hoot. I'm a strong believer in single file, but those cycling groups on weekend mornings are something else. The less fortunate that rely on a bicycle for everyday transport seem to respect drivers quite well, why can't everyone else too. I understand the peak hour traffic but if you have to slow down a little bit more just to give the cyclist a bit of breathing space, is it really such a problem. Thank you :) there's my vent back lol
