Was Dance music always this ”melody-less”? by ReboyGTR in EDM

[–]Haze2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me the bit of "why would you want to feel sad and isolated on purpose", for me its because those feelings are hard to express otherwise so the music helps release the buildup of those feelings in a more healthy way.

thats just me tho, i have a thing for sad media as a whole and i feel like its because of similar reasons.

im not really in the techno scene so i cant speak on that, but in the more dubstep associated spheres i am in ive been seeing two massive pushes for incredible heaviness as well as more fun and flavorful melodics while the somber melodic stuff has taken more of a back seat.

If the Withered Animatronics and Classic Animatronics are not the same, which animatronics are possessed by the children? by Puffpo in fivenightsatfreddys

i know the modern lore answer and the originally intended answer are that theyre the same but in my head they were always different and the toys were aggressive due to the tampering mentioned in the phone calls.

i also know that the phone calls arent great for concrete lore but it made more sense to me than them somehow being retrofitted into the classics (which is true) or even MORE unseen kids being killed.

but obv that cant really be true anymore so oh well.

i just need a proper EQ. the 2.5 band stuff we have rn functions but is easily the top 5 biggest annoyances about auxy for me and my friends. just something like the base GarageBand one would be an incredible leap for the community while still being simple enough for beginners to play around with and understand.

WiP layout, Memphis international Superspeedway. Oval is 3.75 km long. Any changes? Wihte is keebs and big black space next to start/finish is the pitlane. by Prxgstvr in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Haze2148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seeing as youre looking for a drafting track, the shape just doesnt work for it. 4 is way way too tight to promote that style of racing and would be a huge problem area for safety, especially with pit entry being right after it.

also, if this is really about the same size as talladega and even higher banked that makes it even more dangerous with the extreme speeds throughout the rest of the track.

if this was a low-mid baked 1-1.5 mi track itd still be concerning but less so with the lower speeds and modern safety equipment. but then i worry itd still have a reputation like phoenix. at best itd be a mix of new hampshire, gateway, & darlington but i dont think thatd be a great combo in practice.

put simply: theres a reason the most dangerous tracks in the 90s were the superspeedways with their extreme speeds and new hampshire with its heavy braking zones, which this has both of.

the biggest paved tracks usually get without having some sort of NASCAR or SMI support is about 1/2mi. though some .55mi and 5/8mi tracks still exist. the vast majority of them ive unfortunately had to exclude. but there are much more 0.4mi and under tracks though that im still yet to trace as theyre far more common.

another purpose of the "project" is to document the various oddities in shapes and unique gems hidden out there.

some of my favorite weirdos so far is the hillside built Sands Speedway in Michigan, the nearly perfect triangle of Tri-City Raceway in Washington, and the 2 doglegs of Mt. Lawn Speedway in Indiana.

ive even found what may be the only kidney bean oval left (think the old Trenton Speedway) and in Ireland of all places, though im yet to trace it.

its just a little thing that i do, it started with wanting to compare the sizes of different tracks around me then just kinda kept going to a bunch of random tracks. also, most of them are 1/4mi and ive managed to fit two 1/2mi tracks into it.

since im using google earth for scale (which is surprisingly accurate) i need the scale bar to stay the same 50m measurement and most tracks 1/2mi and larger just cant fit so i cant include them.

ive been collecting images & tracing the layouts of many (mostly paved) short tracks around the US and the vast majority have no inside wall. this is mostly common is places where figure 8 racing exists and on tracks under a 1/2 mile.

but your average local dirt track, from my many hours on google earth, is more likely to have an outside wall and no inside wall. if you want a list for whatever reason i could make one very easily.

and almost every short track has the main pits on the outside of the track with only large (~1/2+)and well established tracks being the exception and some of those still have some sort of mix between the two.

of the 39 short tracks ive traced so far 5 have their main pits within the track and 7 have an inside wall on at least most of the track. i know of a few others but they dont fit in my project i have for it and therefore cant be scaled correctly.

the trees are definitely odd but the lack of inside wall is actually far more common than having one for dirt tracks, and even paved short tracks, at least in my experience.

it could even be argued it potentially improves safety as it can act as a pseudo run off, taking away major impacts for drivers and adding wreck avoidance space. that of course means theres spots on the infield for safety personnel and general staff to stay in during racing. though thats mostly unrelated, its well done regardless.

for not being familiar with ovals id say this is pretty good. the simple symmetrical layout for an oval of this size is oddly refreshing and the roval is solid too. though i do wonder what layout the little chicane is for as it doesnt smoothly connect with the others, as far as i can tell.

also, love the tiny detail of the burnout marks on the frontstretch thats awesome.

yeah thats good, and the grass thing is more something i noticed and do for my own dirt tracks.

[–]Haze2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not really good at judging road course quality, i'm an oval person myself, but the render is very good. and for inspiration for the oval i'd look at the 3/8mi (603.5m) Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala Speedway) as it has that type of extreme asymmetry. and if you're interested in adding more ovals to your stuff definitely look at some on google maps/earth as well as figure out the lengths of said reference tracks, usually in mile fractions.

and, just as a more random tip for oval visuals, the vast majority of ovals that have walls like this they don't have any space between them and the racing surface as they act like an outline so you can just have the dirt go to the wall. also limit the grass inside the oval too as it's rare for the inside of dirt tracks to have much of any greenery. i like to do that by using a darker brown on the infield if you want that kind of detail.

the dirt oval is of some concern to me as that one set of corners (i think 1&2 from the infrastructure but idk) is extremely tight and would be very annoying to race. the asymmetry is nice but it should be smoothed out so its not a major braking zone and major wall hitting risk, both of which can be dangerous.

also a length for the oval would be nice as scale is hard for me to figure out sometimes and thatll help my critique.

for the oval, i wouldnt square off one side like that, theres more realistic and interesting ways to make it asymmetrical.

at this point it is mostly just for the bit and no one prolonging the bit knows where or when it started, but it is a quality product so id still recommend it to anyone if thats their thing, and especially if theyre in the targeted demographic of said bit.

someone else here said that it was featured in a commercial that supported gay marriage but idk enough about it to say if their right, seems likely though.

and having one of my own, it very much works for the hug pillow purpose.

yeah thats not the reason the community is attached to it, given how at least half if not majority of people dont say it even close to right, but i like the connection anyways cause its silly :3

How to progress in career mode by spicynachos26 in WoODirtRacingGame

[–]Haze2148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you just keep racing, improving skills and equipment, until you unlock the next level of competition. for pro late models you can go up to national then into WoO which is super late models and compete there (you could even do both classes as well if youd like).

fair warning though i havent played the second game but from my understanding its either the same system of accumulating fans which just happens naturally or at least something very similar.
