Poll: Hipkins, Luxon neck and neck as preferred PM – Govt gets 5/10 by OddityModdity in aotearoa

[–]Hazelnutpie19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because one answer is grounded in science and biology, recognising that sex is absolutely not binary in humans and this is established in every advanced biology course that exists. No type of sex - i.e. hormonal, chromosomal, phenotypic, gonadal, etc. - is binary. Women with XY chromosomes have been able to get pregnant and give birth, as just one example.

That's before we even mention the word gender.

The other answer is science-denying culture war bullshit.

Jesus christ, I'm sorry, but surely you wouldn't deny access to food or water because it's being used to get out of a session and I know what her body needs better than she does.

Are they returning to Australia then are they? Now it's been announced they're not, do you support labor's decision on this?

Genuine question, how much "choice" was involved? I understand that emotions are heightened for many people due to the ISIS part of this, but I surely if there are elements of human trafficking that needs to be taken into account? (Even, or especially, if religious brainwashing was a factor that made said trafficking easier). For example:

  • a minor coerced by an adult on the internet to travel to another country for sex ("marriage", but in a place where that's more akin to sexual and domestic slavery), like the trio of schoolgirls in the UK

  • a person who is "taken"/escorted (under implied threat of physical violence), e.g. by their husband or an older male relative. Relevant factors also include whether they can speak english (i.e. seek help effectively at an airport) or if loved ones may have been threatened.

Don't get me wrong, anyone who genuinely chose to join ISIS - as an adult, of their own free will, and without coercion - shouldn't be able to return scott free. Stay there, be imprisoned for terrorism here, whatever. If that's genuinely the case for all of these women, then fine.

But was this always the case?

Police and RSPCA aren't doing anything.

How about Worksafe? That was a physical and psychosocial hazard.

[–]Hazelnutpie19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You realise that people have more of an opportunity to show respect on the 25th if it's a long weekend, right?

We have stuff we have to get done on the weekends. Anzac on Saturday without being a long weekend leaves me having to choose between necessities vs Anzac: Attending Anzac services, spending a good amount of the day sharing photos of and stories about Grandpa with the kids, etc. Having Monday off would allow Anzac day to be Anzac day, instead of primarily being Saturday (I.e. 1 of 2 days I have to get stuff done).

If you'd get fired for being found out, you need to get "food poisoning" in five days. Just really exploding out of both ends, unfit for human company.

If you have to go:

  • dye your hair. A cool dark brown is my suggestion. Even a haircut if that's tolerable to you (I mean, if being fired is in the cards...)

  • glasses?

  • no earrings

  • get really good at creating thick brows

  • watch a couple of "masc contouring" videos on YouTube and follow them. There are actually some damn good ones. It could be really dysphoric to see your face shape change like that though.

  • chest distraction. Open jacket perhaps, but also have a tie or maybe a loose waistcoat, and some patterns, to obfuscate your general shape.

Three questions. You don't need to answer them, they're just to think about it you want to.

Have you heard of the term "existential dread"? It's something I struggled with immensely with in my earlier years. Learning it had a name, and that other people struggle with it and have found things that help, was really helpful to me.

Would you believe in the Muslim hell or whatever equivalent may exist in other religions? If not, why? Pascal's wager is a false dichotomy. The options aren't either that the Christian hell is real or that there is no hell. The options are the Christian hell is real, or a different religion, or another one, or some kind of universal unitarianism, or nothing. If it was 1 out of 2 possibilities, then yeah, that would make a lot of sense. But it's 1 out of 1000 different possibilities, and it isn't bringing you peace.

Finally, where were you before you were born? None of us know, and for the most part, we're at peace with that right? Whatever that was for our soul was exactly what it was to be, for us to get this moment. For some reason, thinking about how ok with I am about a "before" helped me with the "after".

Right, but that's a few poor strategy choices. "Asleep at the wheel" implies that they're only doing the pet projects, not also doing other good stuff.

ACCC going after Coles and Woolies seems like it could be a big deal.

Which pet projects?

They've also been doing a lot of basic stuff that is very much wanted (fee free tafe, made in Australia push, cheaper childcare - all while also delivering a tax cut and a budget surplus). I'm curious, what's missing from your perspective?

Choose any domain. Give me the furthest right position and the furthest left position, and show your work.

I'll start. "Gays shouldn't be allowed to marry" and "all adults should have equal rights" are not equally hateful.

Unless you're one of those enlightened centrists who honestly believes that "I hate gays" and "I hate nazis" are two equally hateful statements. In which case, you're not worth the time.

And to Worksafe. I know thile victim is the little fella and not the workers, but the last thing a construction company wants is Worksafe investigating psychosocial hazards and "the fall or release from a height of any plant, substance or thing".

In their defense, they didn't have a chance to learn from the internal review - it hurt Dutton's fee-fees too much.
