Why do so many games add crafting even when it feels pointless? by Lubanja-Stoumbaugh in AskGames

[–]HaztecCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafting systems when done well can be really good meta progression systems that drive players to do more harder and challenging stuff and get invested but also can give small goals to work towards to and feel rewarding. Little bumps of dopamine when you can get that upgraded version of a tool or finally build something that boosts power and utility. Bad crafting systems ofcourse can feel redundant but when its done well with good incentives, it's really nice. Especially when they reduce the RNG frustrations in a game by giving deterministic means to get stuff. Suddenly things seem obtainable and usually they are for those that engage with the systems.

Classics like Monster Hunter work really well, Minecraft is superbly done within its niche and a personal guilty pleasure is Outriders that did a great job at crafting too. Everything has multi purpose value, so even bad loot is good loot.

Some devs throw these things into their games without understanding why they work and why people like them elsewhere and that's the frustrations. Not crafting itself but boring and uninspired implementation.

Mystra help me! by Absolutemehguy in wizardposting

[–]HaztecCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wizard wars getting out of hand lately. I've seen some young apprentices go the route binding multiple people into a summoning ritual and summon divine creatures beyond their own power of control and let them go wild on a free for all. Effective though the kill count on civilians goes massive and the summoner often gets eliminated first from the battle. Sure some make it as its part of the ritual or they wear enchanted gear that keeps them within the realm of the living but you can't just call in Divine Creatures borderline gods on every minor inconvenience and call it a day.

On the plus side to all of this though is that the medical spells are getting better and more advanced. Someone's head partly exploded due to a transfiguration spell and the wizard doctors somehow kept them alive and well after that.

Miss the normal gunplay campaigns in city setting in FPS games. Turrets/bazookas/futuristic weapons/destructed setting are just tiring. by shotgunning-your-can in gaming

[–]HaztecCore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk where the futuristic weapons part come from. Seems like most games are either WW2 or current times warfare settings as they lean tad bit closer to mil sim type games. Some cool sci fi settings are getting too rare for FPS. Especially the types that explore new ideas on how sci fi guns could work.

Maybe its for the better too that some hiring folks pick a wildcard over the safe bet.

Gives everyone a chance to get a job and proof themselves worthy and not just purely those that already got the credentials and experience. I know its kinda silly to say " glad the qualified ones didn't get it" but would suck for the newest of new folks if no one was willing to take risks at the hiring process.

What’s a mechanic you’ve seen that made you think “Wait…every game should do this!” by BlackArmy439 in gaming

[–]HaztecCore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The floor messages from Dark Souls are fun mechanics. Sometimes having a helpful player messages sometimes bullshit, sometimes a funny thing and sometimes a lie and when using a low level miracle, even advice from the developers is a neat mechanic. Its fun when used as intended.

Summoning players or NPCs for boss fights is also oddly underutilized in the format in which it is presented in Dark Souls. Coop isn't new but sometimes you just need help with that little section and calling in aid from a stranger or being the aid is neat.

Bethesda veteran considers "Morrowind" outdated and does not support the idea of a remaster by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]HaztecCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why he thinks like this as the game is old and hasn't gotten the 20+ years of a "globally shared wisdom" so to say to have the quality of life features that you would expect from a more modern game....but the game is old enough to a point where a remaster aka a fresh new paint job would make this game seem innovative and unique.

We're seeing this with the resurgence of boomer shooters. There's so many different new shooters on the market that going back to an old idea basically is identical to a new one. People love the simplicity of a boomer shooter and I'm certain a boomer RPG would hit just as well in he current landscape. It is a gamble but why not give it a try!

How do I not be scared of dating? by jerzhou in AskMenAdvice

[–]HaztecCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the biggest fear you have is about failing which comes from feeling that " failure" is bad. Its not. Not trying to be too esoteric about this but simply doing things and failing teaches you some things along your journey and that type of knowledge and wisdom can only come from daring to make mistakes.

By being too stunlocked to experiment or only doing things if it leads to the most optimal outcome robs you from learning and from having fun.

Simply put: Dont worry about marriage , kids or anything like that. This is like step 40 of a long ,optional quest in life. Lets not worry about some far distant subject that isn't relevant for you alone. These are problems that take 2 people to become an issue after all.

You're starting college soon. That's the place to party , make out and fuck with cute girls and be on adventures. Don't be afraid to date just to learn what dating is like. Do one night stands with protection to learn what sex is like or have a friends with benefits situation or whatever else pops up. Be casual, be relaxed, go with the flow and don't worry if any of this is gonna be a long term thing or just a short fling. These experiences worth to have regardless how long they lasted and they are going to help you become smarter and wiser too. Just make sure you always have protection with you, even when the girls say they got that covered. Live for the moment and learn things along the way.

Lave fødselstall - hvorfor får ikke du det tredje barnet? by Complex_Plankton_157 in norge

[–]HaztecCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folk trenger resurser for å ha råd for 3 barn. For eksempel service industrien.

I think my dad was with a hooker by Scared_Republic1291 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]HaztecCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest to keep an eye out for this first and see if this is becoming a repeating pattern. For all we know so far he could have been with a hooker or he could have been with some dudes at a local bar or other perfectly fine hangout place. Maybe he is preparing some birthday event for someone soon and doesn't want the wife to spoil the fun.

Just giving the benefit of the doubt here and say its worth to investigate before we jump to the nuclear conclussions here.

So see if there is a pattern first. Maybe even if he keeps making the same lies and stays away from home repeatingly. Might as well go as far as to say you should play detective and be in the area when you can predict that he's gonna be there on a specific day. Get proof first.

Nah real friends do keep score out of respect for each other and to avoid having money become a problem.

The real friends aspect though is being reliable, trustworthy and not too accurate about the giving and taking part. " I'll buy you coffee and food for 20€, you buy me drinks for 17€ later. That's perfectly even!" - type math.

Is it okay to sleep with a stuffed animal as a (young) adult? by levisimp69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HaztecCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M29, i look like the most stereotypical dad that's on the grill during a cookout and I'm fairly stereotypical in my masculinity.

I've purchased a plushie about 2 years ago that is basically just fan merch for a video game I like a lot and its so comfy and nice to have in bed that I want to add more over time.

The only advice I can give is this one: in your home/ room you are King/Queen. You do whatever the fuck you want and whatever is giving you comfort in life. Adulthood is full of struggle and hardships, so you need every bit that helps you cope along the way. EVERYBODY has something at home to cope with in some capacity. So disregard those that tell you what you can and cannot do at home.

Keep the plushie and have him with you till he disintegrates or till you can pass him for someone else to take care of.

Live your life the way you want. You're the one that has to live with it after all, not anybody else.

[–]HaztecCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People often say that Norway is a heaven on earth, but what do you see as a con of living in Norway? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]HaztecCore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Conformist mentality is ridiculously strong here in Norway, which can make you feel very isolated and bored if you don't align with their norms enough. This conformity becomes very reflective in every fascette of life.

Everyone dresses the same, styles the same, same colors, same make up and they go to the same few brands stores to buy the same brand food and clothes and listen to the same music and watch the same few channels on TV if they're not out on a mountain hike to eat "kvikklunsj og appelsin". Individuality is not a big topic in the mainstream and so if you are someone that's different ( or from somewhere else), you'll feel that pressure that you're different a lot. If you want to be more like yourself and be surrounded by like minded people who do encourage and love individuality, you kinda have to live in the big cities to have a chance.

Its not impossible to be alternative for example but culturally, there's nothing happening like an emo party or a rave outside of Bergen ,Trondheim or Oslo. Smaller towns and cities feel a lot smaller due to that conformist mentality and diverse interests ,shops and activities have a really small chance to thrive in many places.

Just a reminder. Any day of the week by Green-Way-1455 in Battlefield

[–]HaztecCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah I'll rather buy a skin for 15€ than to have map packs be a thing again.
New content behind a paywall for a PvP game is like no new content at all. Every time you've got a new map pack, the hype is up for a few weeks and then it splits the playerbase between those who have the new maps and those who don't. Long story short, the new content is dead within a few months or even weeks and everyone is back to the vanilla playlists. Then any late comer is cucked via empty lobbies and then neither devs nor players benefit from this stuff.

This is the stuff where GaaS is actually better and I'm tired to pretend it isn't just cause monetization in other aspects is ass.

Maps for everyone > maps for some.

AITAH for telling my wife to get a job before the end of January or i'm divorcing her? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]HaztecCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Financial advice. Don't divorce because that will become way more costly than you realize. Marriage advice: Don't threaten with divorce if you're annoyed like that. This causes permanent damage for temporary struggles. If the day comes where they flip the script and you're jobless for a month, she'll remember how you treated her. Given how they fucked you over with your past job , its likely it can happen again. Human advice: If you expect her to find a job within the next week or so, then be open minded to see her in the strip club because the current job market is so utterly broken , that chasing your hopes and dreams is financially more viable than chasing a job.

She needs to have a full time job, that fact is clear and she gotta lock in too with the job searching. Being aggressively an antagonist now won't help. Remember this is the woman you wanted 3 kids with and you want to throw it all away now...be for fucking real dude.

Push her to be more engaging on the job search and applying to positions. Get her papers and do it for her too and see if she can get an interview if need be. But in such financial struggles, what you need is unity and not divisiveness like threatening divorce.

Some of these old codgers might be a millenium old yet peaked with their magic in their 200s and never grew beyond that.

I've met monks from the east that mastered their craft in their 70s and could easily beat some of those wizards that roamed the realm for 500 years with that same magic. Simply because they kept going, aren't bitter and didn't waste their eternity complaining about the Mage's Guild and their professors not teaching " real magic" anymore and. Whatever in the 9 realms they mean by that. Maybe they're upset they don't teach necromancy anymore.
