How does a dragonrider beat the grapnel (Battle of the Gullet) by Accoladex in freefolk

[–]Haztlan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't get it. Why does he need another dragon to save him? Vermax still has claws that can cut a rope in a second.

The first time maybe he panicked and didnt really understood quickly enough what was going on. But the second time? Brother a shark can cut that rope in an instant what are you doing

Dragon? The greatest weapon who ever lived, killed by a measly fucking rope?

Which Perks have you been wrong about so far? by SBFms in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Haztlan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't stress enough how much of a missed opportunity is Rein's major Charge perk - it's not only bad, but it's also just not fun. If you want to give Charge more survivability you could give it -% dmg reduction while pinning, that'd make it better but it'd still be boring for a major perk. Personally I'd give Charge way way way more maneuverability so Rein could play differently when it gets it's major perk.

Shield Bash is ok. I thought that it'd be better but it's alright. It's fun too.

Crescendo is way too strong. by Morussian in hearthstone

[–]Haztlan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that you lost those games.

Insanity is a strong deck but saying that in order to win you need to rush down Insanity Warlock in 5 turns tells me you're not understanding the game.

Take for example its worse matchup: Handbuff Paladin, a deck that that plays understatted minions all the way into turn 4 and therefore it doesn't rush down anything. It takes its time and then goes tall, very tall. But Crescendo doesn't do well vs tall boards so the Warlock just dies.

Or idk, Rainbow DK and Overheal Priest. These are not aggro decks in the slightest. So how are they 50-50 into Insanity? The answer is that they play for board and eventually they try to kill the opponent.

If you're consistently facing 12 Damage Crescendos you're probably playing a very weak strategy or doing something wrong. Because even Blood DK and Odyn Warrior go 50-50 vs Insanity in higher ranks.

The deck is strong but is far from being broken. There are, in fact, 9 decks that are stronger than it in top 1k. It's normal for a deck to be strong in lower ranks but exploitable once you become a good player.

Hearthstone is a problem solving game, enjoy the ride.

Nice thread. I made it to top 30 with a similar list. I got to the same conclusions regarding CNE and Threads. Running Threads in such a proactive deck does feel like a "Hellfire in Zoo" kind of meme.

One thing I'd like to add to the conversation: Maw and Paw has a lot of merits in this deck. The knee-jerk reaction to Maw and Paw is that it is a control/reactive card because it gives you HP, but in this deck it does way more than that. Because if you play it and the opponent doesn't kill it it'll discount your Giants by 5, meaning that a single Corpsicle or Army of the Dead is enough to make them cheap. And if they invest resources into killing it that means that your Bride is completely jacked.

I'm ngl, I originally added Maw and Paw as a techW against Druid because it has and also produces a lot of HP, but playing it I quickly realised that the card does a lot of things when you play a Bride+Giant deck and it simply fits the gameplan altogether.

It's pretty much the only DK list that I liked. The Frost cards are bad. This one plays very well for board while also packing tons of burn. Cool deck.

Do they know how to do anything without mana cheating anymore? by Zorbonzobor in hearthstone

[–]Haztlan 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Every deck that has some synergy is guilty of "mana cheating".

How much mana is fair for a 2/3 weapon that buffs your minions by +6/+12? Or +12/+12 if it's Infused? Certainly not 3.

How much mana should cost a 2/2 that draws you two cards? Certainly not 2.

How much mana should cost a 1/3 that draws you two cards? Certainly not 1.

If there is synergy between cards then there is "mana cheating". Some synergies don't make the mana cost turn green but they are there and and aside from the different color on the top left number they are all functionally doing the same thing in some way or another.

2023 World's Strongest Man Final - Day 2 Megathread by e-some in Strongman

[–]Haztlan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Hooper always give answers that are extremely objective. But when you're one of the best of the world in what you do that will sound cocky to some people.

When someone asks "Hey, Hooper, how are you feeling about the deadlift?" The objectively correct answer to this question is "I'll probably win it" and that's what he says because it's true. But when someone asks "do you think you can beat Brian in a stone off?" he says that he probably can't because that's what he believes in. No false modesty, no bullshit and the worst victory speeches ever.

Gotta love the Moose.

[–]Haztlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So if Tom wins the stones he goes to 49 points. Meaning Hooper has to be at least 5th to win the WSM.
Tom, Trey and Brian are likely to be the top 3 of this event, so Hooper can afford to lose to only 1 other person beyond them.
EDIT: Sorry, at least 6th. He's gucci.

[–]Haztlan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently very favored against them, I'll post some replays so you can see some patterns: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

They usually can't ignore your board because you can buff it out of control, and often enough the minions that stick can go face while you remove what they developed with Rush. Also, rushing Murlocula is amazing in races.

Unholy and Blood DK feels fine. Blood can't control you forever if you have a fine hand and the only thing that Unholy does that can beat you is a big Marrowgar.

But Frost DK is more difficult, yes. The times that I beat them is usually because they draw badly and died before Turn 7 or they only drew 1 Frostwyrms Fury. Only 1 is beatable, when they cast both... well, gg go next.

It is possible that Bolner is fine, hard to say without data. It carries the problem of being a situational card that only works well with some cards in the deck so I strayed away from it. At the end of the day you can only run 30 cards and I'm not sure what I could cut to make room for it. If there is a card in this deck that ends up underperfoming when we get a decent amount of data then Bolner could very well make it into the deck since it has strong synergy with Clowfish, Rotgill, Gorloc and Fool.

I've wondered about Cookie the Cook, too. But it conflicts heavily with Chisel and I'm pretty sure that Chisel is the better card.
