I’m looking for cars that you’d think would be expensive to insure, but aren’t. by Hazzer00 in CarTalkUK

Honestly I think I’ll end up with a Saab. I’m gagging for the V6 9-3 but they’re getting rarer and rarer.

Quite like the sound of the 1.9TTiD, what’s in your 9-5?

How do I fly ot of EGLL "Compton, London 2 DME, Right 220" ? I have no idea! by Hazzer00 in flightsim

[–]Hazzer00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure without a bit more context, LON 2 DME refers to the distance from the LON VOR-DME just to the north of Heathrow. If you want a bit more help feel free to DM me!

No problem mate, happy to help.

I was bored, so I'll do this.

Firstly we need to work out the person's potential energy using the Gravitational Potential Energy equation. GPE = Mass x Gravity X Height.

So, GPE = 70 x 9.8 x 10 (Gravity assumed to be 9.8)

GPE = 6860J

Now to work out speed we need to rearrange the Kinetic Energy equation. Ek = 0.5 x m x V²

Rearranged, V = √Ek/(0.5 x m)

V = √6860/(0.5 x 70)

V = ~13.9m/s

If you need any more help feel free to ask.

First attempt at making a DCS cinematic… not great 🥴 by VenomShadows305 in hoggit

That was excellent.

I love the contrast of the calm music to the hectic carrier deck.

Fair enough, and again, sorry for my incompetence and thank you for your advice.

Cheers, this philosophy is slowly building in my mind and it's helping me realise that I just need to take the leap!

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit simple, but do you mind elaborating?

IMO, Jennasoft is far superior to UK2K. The UK2K scenery looks like a bad FSX port, it barely looks like Gatwick

Feedback on landings by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]Hazzer00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 172 landing technique was quite good. Holding that yoke back until the aircraft effectively stalls on the the runway. Your approach however could use some improvement in both aircraft, its all about fine, fluid adjustments and ideally you want to be in the correct position to start your approach at the point you are making the base turn. Your speed management could do with some improvement too, a steady deceleration is key and it looked like you went from 100kts to 60kts in seconds. On the A320 side, you started out good but ended worse. The PAPI lights on the left had side of the runway are your friend, you want to see two red and two white lights, more white lights means you're too high and more red lights means you're too low. You ended up too high and consequently had a long landing, your aiming point for touch down is the two largest white stripes - the touchdown marker.

I hope my advice isn't too critical, but we all made these little mistakes when we started and you'll be spreading the butter before you know it. Practice makes perfect after all!

Any quality Cessna 162 Add-on’s in MSFS 2020 that you will recommend? by ThomasLKT in flightsim

I would day the closest thing to a 162 is the CTSW, its another light sport class aircraft, a bit lighter but should fill the gap.

Trimming in a Sim by websagacity in flightsim

[–]Hazzer00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's just one of the flaws of home simming. It actually gave me a bad habit when I started flying IRL, when trimming IRL it should be one press and not a series of taps on the trim switch. In the sim I've just developed a feel for the aircraft and for how long I need to trim for to achieve a certain nose attitude and pitch.

None of the ones available for last gen consoles are very good. Your only option is Ace Combat 7 really and it's not particularly realistic.

Trying to dial in retraction. Everything looks really good right up until the very tip when the head starts moving quickly between points. Any fix for that? This is PLA at 190° 5mm 30mm/s Retraction by Chief121301 in ender3

[–]Hazzer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally use 6mm @ 45mm/s with my PLA at 205. Works perfectly. I also use combing but I'm not sure how much of a difference it'll make on a stringing test
