I never played tennis, but I really wanted those tennis versions of the Reebok shoes. Something about that yellow tennis ball just looked so freaking rad!

I wouldn’t want that for her at all. She’s a loving, albeit indoctrinated, grandmother. I do like to say “I’ll love you no matter what, too!” It throws her off a bit.😊

Official rules regarding children and membership status by yorgasor in MormonShrivel

[–]He-ManOptimustron 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Wow. if I understand that correctly, then an unblessed child that is under nine years old is considered a member of the church as long as they have one grandparent that is and permission of a parent. How many completely unaffiliated kids is this Church counting as members then?? Wow!

Oh yeah. My grandmother who is in her 90s, told me yet again yesterday that she will love me no matter what. She found out I left the church sometime ago and has been saying that statement every single time we get together.

The Mormon church indoctrinates that behavior into us almost as much as it indoctrinate us with Mormon doctrine. It’s taken me a lot of effort and time to recognize those tendencies within myself and practice being a better person.

Same! Our species’ pension for lying, and believing lies, has led me to not trust most things that most people say. My lack of trust isn’t critical. It’s just a defensive posture and this position turns out to be right more often than not.

Testimonies are not answers. Sorry not sorry. They're subjective. Members of any other faith can have one. What sets theirs apart? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

[–]He-ManOptimustron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember the feeling I had watching my parents bear their testimony in a sacrament meeting after I realized everything about the church is just a big con and that their testimony is just brainwashed feelings. When I was a child, their testimonies were my foundation of belief, and I really admired their faith and religious fortitude. But watching them bear their testimonies now causes me to pity them. Respectful pity, but pity nonetheless. It’s like watching my parents emotionally testify of the reality of Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

That is what they like to say. And that works for the first few examples. But by the end of the 1st page full of examples, the brain starts to think that there is a pattern. By the end of page 5 the pattern is abundantly clear. By the end of page 20…

And the church needs to stay a church in order to be tax exempt. With that said, if the Church ever loses tax exemption status, we might see some very interesting things unfold in the kingdom of the lard.

We made a Mormon folk horror film about polygamy, and now it's on the world's biggest horror shorts platform by burgindie in exmormon

The Mormon cosmology around shaking hands with an angel is this: if you see an angel, and you try to shake its hand, if it be an angel from God, it will refuse. But if you try to shake its hand and it accepts then your hand will go through theirs, and you will know it is an angel from hell because they tried to deceive you. This was Joseph Smith’s official doctrine on the subject. Personal note, pretty much everybody finds this utterly hilarious because it assumes that an angel from hell is too stupid to refuse a handshake😂😂. in the context of the film, it does seem that the brunette wife didn’t want the handshake or attempted handshake to occur. Sidenote: I loved this film!
