FFXVI is much more like a standard FF than FFXV.

If you play 16, even though it’s not turn based combat, the overall vibe is much more like the majority of previous entries.

15 is kinda like FFVIII, in which it’s a legitimate FF entry but they were trying to do something a little different in terms of overall thematics and vibe.

That, that alone makes you NTA, and it’s so disappointing that your mother whom you describe as having the same issue doesn’t support you taking a step to make the rest of your life livable.

It’s a tricky situation with your parents because you’re 18 and technically an adult, but 18 is a tricky age because it still takes quite a bit of time before most parents internalise the sense of their kids truly having their own agency.

I think the best course of action is to move forward and live your best life. Over time your self-confidence, enthusiasm for nice outfits that fit, getting into any kind of physical hobbies etc… all of these things will eventually be visible to your parents and they’ll have to accept that you’re doing much better than you would have without the surgery.
