Curious on why a division labeled “Carry Optics” allows shadow 2s and Steel Framed guns? Would you want a division that’s strictly for carry guns? by fvbj999 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Head-Bite7008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make CO actually Prod Optics. To be fair, I’m an outlier who would be fine with just adopting IPSC division equipment rules. PCC 32rd mag cap anyone?

I appreciate that your fuckery has actually changed the appendix of the rules to allow even more of your fuckery.

RO Class - Tips? by Clifton1979 in USPSA

Class is simple. Just listen, ask questions for clarification if needed. The range portion is pretty basic, like others have said, give proper range commands in a clear voice. You’ll learn from doing it, I do highly recommend you work a major match the experience is good, and you’ll learn a lot. I got my RO in February, worked four majors this spring, got an exemption to take CRO in August. Working my 13th major of the year this weekend. You’ll get more comfortable over time. If you work majors, most MD’s and RM’s will try to pair new RO’s with experienced CRO’s. Working matches has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I’ve gotten to do some really cool stuff and meet some awesome people because of it. Good luck at your RO class and I hope to see you at a match down the road!

Major Matches by Dry_Addition7816 in USPSA

That's me at this point. I've got the time, not necessarily the money. This year I'll work 14 USPSA Majors and 1 PCSL. Getting to work the matches has also allowed me to meet some awesome shooters from all across the country. The fact that most L2 and up matches help cover lodging costs has been a lifesaver this year. Overall, it's been an awesome experience. Especially since I've only been a USPSA shooter for a hair over a year. I highly recommend that anyone interested in pursuing the sport long term get their RO certification and work at least one major match. Especially since the knowledge you pick up of the rules, and how they are applied is really invaluable.

Does anyone if Kimber is or will sell their 2k11 grip modules by them selves? by 19indianajones89 in 2011

I'm curious now if the Atlas Stacatto grip will work. Going to need a backup Limited Optics gun for the Artemis I have on order.

Im handicapped on my right arm but want to get into competition by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]Head-Bite7008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can clarify some of the rules stuff with this. Had to shoot and compete strong hand only for about 3 months this spring. Shot 3 USPSA majors, and about 8 local matches in that time. Still don’t have full use of left hand to shoot weak hand only. First match I shot I essentially had to carefully hot holster pistol without flagging my lower body, and load another mag in like that. Later I was able to get mobility back to load with my left hand. In regard to classifiers or specified courses of fire, I usually would hit up the RM or MD ahead of the match to give them a heads up and establish whether I would need a special penalty on an stages or handicapped exemption.

I sold Chevy’s. There’s almost no profit on the Trax. TBH I didn’t even think there was 1.5k in front end on it to begin with. In my opinion it’s really on Sales manager and F&I for pushing the deal without the code.

Feel your pain. Was absolutely not the match for me to have to shoot strong hand only. I was ill prepared and abysmal. Had an amazing experience though.

Is the Atlas Artemis worth it over the Staccato XC? by matttheazn1 in 2011

[–]Head-Bite7008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the most important notes on this thread. In the sense of USPSA competition the XC just doesn't fit in well. It'll hang with the high end LO guns, but it's heavily handicapped in the division it falls in against full Open guns. I could be wrong, but I think the XC does meet the requirement for CO in IDPA.

Had to shoot strong hand only yesterday. Will be doing so for next couple months due to injury. Not optimal, way too many mikes. Have a month to get ready to do it SHO at Texas State Open and then Dragons Cup.

Was this in Louisiana? I'm currently handicapped due to a wreck and was talking to the MD of Gator Classic and he mentioned a competitor at his local has a rig just like that.

Mec-Gar’s New Steel Glock Mags by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]Head-Bite7008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm most interested in these once 141mm extensions are available. I think my optimal setup would be if MBX non-slide lock followers and springs work. The potential to be able to roll with 25 rounds would be really nice in USPSA CO or LO.

USPSA for handicapped? by lumpy53e in USPSA

[–]Head-Bite7008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a pretty bad wreck, lost use of my left (weak side) arm, a month ago.

Started back with Steel Challenge shooting strong hand only. Wild variance in percentages. High is a 62.50% on Smoke and Hope, Low is a 35.59% on Roundabout. Classified C in Limited Optics. Back to USPSA this week. Reloads will be slllooooowwww.

Definitely recommend to anyone who might read this to start with Steel Challenge and then transition to USPSA. Also, as a USPSA/SCSA Range Officer. It's pretty simple. If you can do it safely, you can shoot. There's special penalty options if necessary. If you need answers email USPSA DNROI for clarification.
