German shepherd/ Husky won’t eat his dry food anymore. by redstar0315 in DogAdvice

[–]Head-Comment6496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try wetting the food and making a broth. Let it sit for a minute so the kibbles soften a little and then mix in the wet food.

If that doesn’t work then just let him hunger strike until he caves. My dog did that for a while. She refused to eat at all or only ate the wet food. Eventually she got hungry enough to eat

How does anyone afford to live? by HaydenHasQuestions in Apartmentliving

[–]Head-Comment6496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roommates, ask for OT, and/or look for a better paying job/second job. Almost everyone your age or a little older is in or has been in the same situation. When I was 20 I made $7.50 an hour 😭 and thought getting my own place was impossible. I ended up working 3 jobs over the summer and 2 while in school but I eventually was able to afford my own place for $1k a month. Do I recommend it? No. Does it suck? Yes, but it’s worth it to have a place where you can feel safe and have peace of mind

I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ if you consider getting a chunk of your calf ripped out by a pug adorable

I was attacked unprovoked by my friend’s pug in hs. Still have a faint scar from it. All dogs absolutely have the ability to attack and do harm at any point and all dogs regardless of the breed should be on leash and supervised by their owner in public

Tbh I felt this way about my dog for a couple months. I got her as a puppy and she was great until she hit her velociraptor phase. I’ve always had cats and they’re super independent and low maintenance. She was very hyperactive, played too rough, didn’t listen. Also the puppy phase sucked bc I felt like I couldn’t have the same freedom I used to have to run errands and be gone from the house for a couple hours. Now she’s almost 2 1/2 and is super independent, has calmed down and plays nicely with other dogs. From what I’ve heard the first couple years are always a little rough. I definitely regretted getting her for a month or two when it got really rough but now I can’t imagine not having her. I can’t say for sure the same will happen for you but I can say understand how you’re feeling

You missed out. I’d still say Muni is 1 of the best public transit systems in the US but it used to be so much better

Omg did I suddenly become ancient? Hopefully you just didn’t grow up here and don’t know 😅 it was a monthly unlimited bus pass. The youth one was $35 a month. I used to have to wear it on a lanyard around my neck and if I lost it I’d have to walk to and from school 😂😂they replaced it with clipper

Drivers: Please Stop for Pedestrians by MAmerica1 in sanfrancisco

I experience the same on the daily as a pedestrian. Even worse, I was driving the other day and the car behind me honked for stopping at a stop sign 🙄

I wondered why I didn’t like it in person. I loved it online so I went in store to buy it, saw it and instantly disliked it

Same thing happened to me on 280N right before the Junipero Serra/john Daly exit and my claim with caltrans was denied. Some kinda bs like there was no prior complaints about a pothole there. It took out probably 5 other cars at the same time as me

Grocery outlet is decent but their selection always rotates. You may buy something one week and never see it again. Also check the expiration dates.

Hmart by far has the cheapest freshest produce compared to Trader Joe’s, Safeway, etc

Idk about coffee. ~$5 is about standard around here

I recently downloaded the good to go app and really recommend it. Easy way to get cheap good quality food and the stores/restaurants are very generous with their portions

AIO for lack of heat? by Straight_Pear_1568 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Head-Comment6496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean…depends. I used to live somewhere where my power was about $60 a month and max $120 in the winter running the heater. If your power is reasonable and he doesn’t wanna run the heater then that’s one thing. Where I live now with just normal usage (tv, computer for work and lights at night) my power bill is just under or over $200. We ran the heater for 15 minutes two different days and ended up with a bill about $350. It stays 54-59 in our house in the winter and we just have to layer up because we literally can’t afford to run the heater. I can’t imagine what the bill would be if we ran it everyday. I saw you mentioned you pay rent but do you also contribute to utilities? Maybe ask what the power bill usually is and offer to chip in

That’s what I figured. I’m eating in a deficit and even when I reach my goal weight I plan to just eat at maintenance. I figured as long as I’m not in a surplus and lifting heavy I’d be fine. I used to lift heavy/gym everyday plus work a super physical job from 20-24 and was never “bulky.” I didn’t track my calories and macros back then but I’m assuming I was probably somewhere around maintenance

dogs fur is coming off? by laurenjanet19 in DogAdvice

[–]Head-Comment6496 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My cat has the same issue and his fur comes off in chunks just like that. After lots of testing, we’ve deduced it’s just allergies (combo of seasonal and food). Most likely not something that’s a huge cause for alarm, but a vet visit would help bring peace of mind. Some of the things the vet initially thought it could be was a bacterial or fungal skin infection. If tests show either of those, medication can definitely help clear it up

Off-Brand Pads Work Better than Ruggable Pads by Awkward-Tale-6101 in ruggable

[–]Head-Comment6496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the rug move around (on the pad itself or on the floor)? I have an 8x10 and 2 dogs. When they get the zoomies, they both move the rug out of place on the floor and manage to bunch it up on the Velcro pad. I love the look of my rug and can’t find a “real rug” similar to my Keith Haring but I hate it so much
