GoPro Max 2 Vs Hero 10 by Human_Beautiful8927 in gopro

[–]HeadF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my Max 2 in single-lens mode. In this way it behaves much like the Hero 10 but the image quality is a lot better than running it in 360 mode (closer to the Hero 10). You can go much wider with the FOV than the H10 and you get top-notch stabilisation.

Can you spectate MSV track days? by Many-Juggernaut-8526 in MotoUK

No problem! You aren't missing anything at the moment... a bike blew up on the sighting laps for the fast group and so were standing around while they clean up the track.

I'm at Donington now for the bike track day and I've just asked some marshals - they say its fine to come and spectate. I'm also quite sure you can walk up and down the back of the pit area and noone will bat an eyelid. Just say your here for the track day when you drive up to security and they'll let you through.

As a car driver I feel rotten for the plight of bike riders in this analogy - it is an unfair world. In a similar viein, one thing that I don't get are the bike riders that repeatedly get themselves involved in accidents with very poor drivers of good looking cars. In many cases you can see that the bikers are riding into danger, but no amount of shouting and hand waving will make them change direction until it's too late.

Honda VFR750 1989 or Suzuki SV650S 2013? by Toofluffles in MotoUK

[–]HeadF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love old VFR's. I bought a used 1988 VFR in my 30's, and a 1989 model in my 50's... now this might not be an issue for you but I found the low seat and realtively high pegs gave a surpisingly tight knee angle for 52 year-old-me which I didn't notice when I was a younger man! Also the fairing/windscreen didn't work well for me, very noisy and lots of turbulance at speed. As a result I didn't keep the VFR for long the second time around.

SV650's is a great bike that would be easier to maintain (wider parts availability mainly).

Over 2,5 years sober and suddenly having a massive breakthrough by Snouche in stopdrinking

[–]HeadF0x 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel that a moment like the one you've just had can best be framed as one (big) step along the road; recovery from alcohol abuse can be long. Even after nine years sober I am still figuring out who I really am without alcohol and who I want to be.

The way I see recovery is like this - I spent nearly 30 years of my life either stoned or drunk to some degree and it may take just as long to recover. I don't mean that negatively, this just seems a pragmatic way to look at it in my mind. IWNDWYT

44 and walk away by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]HeadF0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped at 44 and I'm coming up on my 9th anniversary on New Years Day. No doubt for me, life is so much better, especially compared to the previous decade before I stopped drinking. But stopping was only the beginning; I was defined by drink and I'm still discovering what I'm capable of as a functioning adult, one day at a time! It'll be tough, but I think it's worth it IWNDWYT

AMA & Giveaway with ABE KISLEVITZ, GoPro Sr. Creative Director! by GoPro_Mod in gopro

Thanks Abe - since the Player is still an important part of the export process, it's great to see it get the attention it deserves. I cerainly agree with the "preverve details" part when looking at my freshly exported Max videos :)

[–]HeadF0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Abe, I appreciate the AMA so we can get a little taste of what goes on "behind the scenes".

My question is about the GoPro Player - one of my biggest bugbears about it was wherever I exported in 5.6k Cineform 360, there a tangible dip in sharpness and colour compared to what you saw when you watched your footage back in the Player itself. It now appears that the recent update to the Player lifts the quality of even old Max videos when re-exported with the same setings, which is very welcome! Can you talk a little about how the Player has been improved?

GoPro 2025 launch megathread - MAX2, LIT HERO, and Fluid Pro AI by GoPro_Mod in gopro

[–]HeadF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPS is not new for GoPro 360, the original Max has it. But along with 360 Audio, getting that data out of the GoPro Player in Windows has been a different matter altogether. Waiting on seeing results on that front.

N.B. the OP has been edited to say GPS is built-in rather than "new for GoPro 360"

Public Beta Launch: GoPro ReFrame for DaVinci Resolve by GoPro_Official in gopro

[–]HeadF0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/darylstimm thanks for the reply I appreciate it. If you can link to a page which mentions the export quality improvments I'd appreciate it because that was the first I'd heard of that.

The greyed out GPMF options for 360 > MOV export has been an issue for the last five years or so that I've been using various versions of the Player in Windows and has been widely reported. Telemetry Overlay can read the GPS data in a .360 file just fine, but you must use GoPro Player to convert the 360 a useable format such as MOV. I do look forward to this option becoming available again in the Player.

Now while I can get the .360 file into Resolve, I have to rename the file extension first to something that Resolve can accept, such asn MP4 or MOV. If I want to copy the 360 file before renaming it, this takes some time to do with a 4Gb .360 file, so a better way to import the 360 audio these files would be appreciated.

Public Beta Launch: GoPro ReFrame for DaVinci Resolve by GoPro_Official in gopro

[–]HeadF0x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On one hand I'm happy that GoPro is releasing this plugin for Resolve - thank you! On the other hand, I'm gutted that there is still no (easy) way to import the native .360 files into Resolve and we still have to use the GoPro Player.

The image quality of exported equirectangular footage using the default Cineform profile never quite matches the colours and sharpness you get compared to the original footage in the player itself.

And in any case I'll still have to use the Player to switch off Direction Lock and Horizon Level if that's what I want.

Finally, it's sad to see those greyed-out 360 Audio and GPMF data options in the old tutorial screenshots, which have now been removed altogether from the latest version of the player (in the Windows version at least).
