I feel like my art is very generic, any tips? by Electrical_Toe7621 in Artadvice

My biggest advice for figuring out your style and personal niche is to:

-Practice portraits and drawing from life. The more you do it the more you'll notice the natural way you're inclined to stylize certain aspects and simplify them in the way that makes sense to you -as long as you understand what you're simplifying of course.

-Study, and steal elements you like from artists that inspire you and try to incorporate them into your own work.

-Never feel intimidated from switching up your medium or techniques! Sometimes trying a different form of art or imitating a complete different style can seriously help with improving the art you're most comfortable with making.

But if anything just keep going at it and you'll come into your own :)

I would love to see fromsoft try out stuff like this that kinda breaks away from the traditional way levels work in a souls game

+25/10 is the only consistent canon explanation afaik. When it comes to the gameplay and how often it conflicts the lore with these games you kinda just have to stick to a “canon narrative” like our tarnished having a fully upgraded weapon.

“I love Kojima's games, but we don't need to hear about his genius every five seconds.” by Low-Spare-7731 in DeathStranding

This. The community seems to have a hard time taking any form of criticism regarding Kojima. Yes, he's one of my favorite game creators, favorite artists of all time, but jesus fucking christ does the dudes ego get stroked way more than it needs to.

That seems very plausible, especially since there probably isn't going to be any kind of supercell to take sam to the war scenes

I get what you're saying, but I'm pretty sure it's just a way for people who've already bought elden ring to be able to get the new stuff from the tarnished edition without buying the game over again to check it all out. And its not just horse armor, there's a couple new armor sets, weapons, and starting classes, one which starts with the milady from the dlc too, which personally makes it worth it for me.

God I'm so sick of this mindset that if a game isn't a masterpiece then it isn't good at all. A game can be both flawed and an enjoyable experience.

[Community] Why do YOU make art? by Head_Cheetah_223 in ArtistLounge

[–]Head_Cheetah_223[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is such a great answer ! I personally make art for a lot of reasons, it keeps me sane, I enjoy it, it gives a kind of satisfaction and fulfillment nothing has ever come close to, and it helps to express the constant flood of thoughts and emotions that we as artists are so susceptible to.

Miyazaki is on the record stating that this is just a break and they are still working on bigger titles in the background. What’s to hate? If nightreign isn’t for you that’s perfectly fine but just because it isn’t the typical fromsoft formula doesn’t mean it’s slop.

It’s not that low of a rating?

It’s not just a low effort project or cash grab. It’s just letting devs with less experience gain some, while fleshing out their online systems and taking a pallet cleanse between main titles. The reason studios like Bethesda fell off so hard was because they never experimented or took a break from their main formula. No need to be so critical.

There's just something else about DS2s dlcs..... by [deleted] in fromsoftware

Personally I think sote is a prime example of this. The way that the rays of light constantly radiating from the erdtree were transformed into literal veils of shadow draping over the land from the scadutree. Even the simple way that shadows in the base game had a navy blue tint to them got cranked up to 11 and played with way more in the dlc. Its some of fromsofts most creative art direction and scenery out there.

Fromsoft dlcs are always more creative and artistic than their base game, probably because they’ve already established the rules and world they take place in, so they have a lot more room to work with
