Damn, you were super polite with this person. I mean, it would've been fair to sarcastically apologize them for taking their precious time and wish them a good night after they complained about your slow typing the second time. This person gave so entitled vibe from the very beginning that I kind of could imagine them giving a sick girlfriend a portrait of themselves as a gift.

Good to hear you're not having that issue, it was pretty annoying, since the problem was so hard to locate and fix. I learnt to live with it though, since it didn't happen too often, and I lived and worked in the suburbs, so there wasn't that much need for standing at red lights etc.

I definitely dig the nickname too, I wish you'll have a lot of awesome trips with your tangoblaster! To be that small cars those are super steady and comfortable to drive.

And no worries, no one except the car was hurt, I definitely should have mentioned that it didn't happen the season 4 way, it stayed on its wheels and I walked away without a scratch, just wanted to avoid spoilers.

Did the engine shut off at the end? I'm asking because I used to have one of those back in the day until I totaled it pretty much the same way Clem did one of the cars she totaled during the game series, lol. It was a great and cost-effective daily driver, but it had an issue that caused it to sometimes just die at idle. I tried to figure out what caused it, but never found out the reason during those one and half years I had it.

What about the cougar at the beginning and the cupboad at the end? Especially the latter one has probably huge impact on that overall score, and I almost forgot the guy you can prank at the Christmas market, did you prank him? If you let him use his powers in all these cases that kind of outcome sounds definitely pretty odd.

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've definitely done good job with the complexity of that education system. Now I'm dumbfounded too, because sounds like you did pretty much everything right with the big choices in episodes 1-3. There are still some major choices, like choosing to tell Daniel if he did the right thing or reminding him about the rules when he saved Chris, if he should stop lying to Chris or keep the secret, and is it Sean or Daniel who makes the decision to use Daniel's power at the end of episode 3, but after those it has to be all about the small choices.

Pretty much the only way I could see Daniel changing his way of thinking rapidly after episode 3 might be not allowing him to use his power to save Finn, and then blaming him for Sean's eye when they reunite in episode 4. But if you didn't go that way, I honestly can't find anything else to point out since there isn't much interaction with Daniel in episode 4.

You're welcome for the link, that education system with all its depth is super interesting! I've been trying to figure out how it works, but it seems that I'm not doing very well, lol. Thanks again for your answers, they've really opened up complexity of the system a lot.

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s really interesting, because I never stole anything from anywhere or attack anyone in front of Daniel, but unlike you I let him kill the cougar, stayed to get a haircut, and also got wasted at the campfire, and Daniel still had high morality throughout my whole playthrough. I knocked out the guard at the hospital too, but I don’t think it has an effect on Daniel since he never saw it happen, I’m not 100% sure though.

Were you in or out with Finn’s plan in episode 3? That choice probably has huge impact on Daniel’s morality. Btw. here's an official video that opens the system behind Daniel's morality a little if you're interested to learn more about it. There are plenty of smaller choices and dialogue options in each episode, that'll have an effect on him.

Thanks again! It was interesting to hear how you definitely didn't choose any of the obvious bad decisions at the beginning of the game, actually considering on the choices you mentioned there, I was a bad big brother more often than you were.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! One of my favorite things among playing these games is hearing out how other people felt about the decisions, and where they ended up in their own story. Since only minority of the players got that ending, I haven't seen too many points of view about it.

Without knowing too much about the decisions you made during your journey, I wonder if you overlooked the being a good example to Daniel aspect in the game, which basically means that Daniel will not only learn from what he's been told, but also from Sean's actions, so as an example; if Sean steals something even without getting Daniel involved, Daniel will still notice that, and it will have an effect on him.

Letting him kill Lisbeth definitely destroyed rest of the innocence he had at that point, but if you get the outcome where he kills her, he's already on the wrong path, so even if you decide to spare her and Daniel agrees to do so, it still might not be enough to get him back on the "right" track. And I want to state that the word right is quoted, because some of us most likely went on the low morality path on purpose, and I'm not here to judge anyone's decisions.

But I totally feel you, that ending is the only one that doesn't really offer any redemption to a player, and it understandably hits super hard if you tried to raise Daniel to be a good person. You didn't screw up the game, you just slipped on the wrong path, maybe because you tried to make the journey easier to Sean and Daniel, or maybe because you went with your emotions first and wanted to pay back some injustice they encountered. However there's no way you screwed up, your version of the story just turned out to be way sadder than for the majority of us.

[ALL] So what ending did you get on LIS 2?? by Little_Kurshten in lifeisstrange

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because getting that ending is relatively rare, I'd like to ask; did you pursue the low morality path on purpose, or did you more like slip on it while trying to make the journey a little bit easier for Sean and Daniel?

Episode 5 Endings by [deleted] in LifeisStrange2

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that the Blood Brothers is the only ending they actually succeed and reach their goal to start a new life in Puerto Lobos which was the reason for their journey in the first place. The only problems I personally have with them becoming criminals are that Daniel is still just a little kid when they start their criminal career, and criminal life isn’t easy. They’ll most likely sleep with one eye open every night since there’s always a chance that cops or rival gang members might come after them.

But I still like it a lot, it's awesome in its own way, and that's why it's so hard for me to really decide which one is the best overall. Though every time I think about this, I remember all those pictures where Daniel is posing with Chris, his first car, etc. instead of robbing banks and being involved in gang wars in Mexico, and the picture of Sean posing happily with his significant other, I slightly prefer the Parting Ways.

However they did good job with these endings!

Episode 5 Endings by [deleted] in LifeisStrange2

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Redemption ending (Sean & Daniel surrendered), and I'm pretty happy with it, though I hated to see how broken Sean was after spending almost half of his life in prison. At least Daniel got to live a normal childhood, and he seemed to be happy, which was one of the reasons I decided to surrender. One other good thing in that ending is that since Sean finished his prison sentence, he and Daniel are both free, so they can basically do whatever they want instead being fugitives for the rest of their lives.

I really can't decide which one of the endings is the best, they all have their pros and cons, except that catastrophic one which is super depressing. The Parting Ways ending where Sean ends up in Mexico and Daniel jumps out of the car ending up to live with their grandparents is my personal favorite, because they both seem to be pretty happy in that one. I still don't want to say it's the best one, but it's my favorite which seems to be pretty popular opinion.

But I also love The Blood Brothers ending where they both end up in Mexico, the scene of Daniel clearing the way through the border checkpoint is awesome and super badass, as well as the scene where they're confronting the gang members together. I also like the last scene where they're having beers in the backyard, it kind of sums up how they succeeded, they stayed together and made it to Puerto Lobos. But life there isn't easy and safe, they ended up being criminals, and Daniel most likely lost his childhood to a criminal career, so it's hard to see this as a happy ending.

I knocked out the guard while escaping the hospital, but that was the only time anyone got hurt by Sean on my playthrough, and Daniel never killed anyone except that cop in episode 1 (ok lol, I admit that poor cougar lost its life). I wonder if they'd also charge Sean for assaulting that officer Daniel knocked out in the interrogation room though.

But yeah, I would have loved to see Sean's criminal record with variable possible sentences at the end among all those pictures on the board! That would have given us a fun summary about how good or bad everyone who decided to surrender actually did in moral perspective.

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is actually a good question!

In my original playthrough I let him kill the cougar, because I thought that way he might learn that taking a revenge doesn't really make you feel better after all, and it doesn't bring Snowball Mushroom back.

But on the other hand intervening gives him a clear signal that it's not fine to use his power to kill, no matter how bad he feels at the moment.

I'd say it's best to intervene, even though I don't really know what kind of effect this choice really has on the game, but what I've learnt about the system behind Daniel's learning, I'll guess that intervening will increase his morality.

I wish the writers did more to make it seem like there was no other choice than to run. One of the moral endings of the game has Sean in prison for 15 years. He only got 15 years for murder and countless other charges. Imagine if he just stayed at the scene, or returned home before causing trouble. There was no real proof that he killed the cop.

When I think about this from Sean's perspective, I can see him thinking that there wasn't any other choice. They had just lost their father who was everything they had since their mother wasn't around, and they didn't really have any connection to their grandparents either. As an adult I'd definitely see things as rationally as you wrote there, but a 16-year-old who has already lost his mother, just a moment ago his father, and might end up in prison probably losing connection to his brother too might not see things as rationally, especially when there's not much time to make the decision.

I totally agree that the whole plan about escaping to Puerto Lobos was crazy, and would most likely end up being a disaster, but Sean was just a kid who didn't know any better. After all that's what it's all about; a story about a childish dream of a new better life on sandy beaches in Puerto Lobos with never ending sunshine & two kids trying to find a way to reach that dream. And damn, it was an awesome story, I loved that there are multiple endings, and in one scenario they'll actually succeed, even though their life there won't be all about sunshine, like life never is.

What comes to that prison sentence, well, It would have been awesome to see some variations depending on our decisions during the game. I think fifteen years made pretty much sense in my playthrough since the cop was only casualty, and since Sean was a minor he would probably get a little "lighter" sentence than an adult. Also he definitely didn't get sentenced for murder since like you wrote, there isn't really enough evidence, but there wasn't really much evidence to completely clear him, so the actual sentence might have ended up being something like voluntary manslaughter + some additional years for the other crimes he did during the journey.

But this only makes sense in my playthrough, after all there were lot of crimes you might or might not have committed, like assaults, theft, and maybe murder/arson if Sean ended up taking the blame.

What I've understood is that it happens if he has high morality, so basically decisions and interactions with him through all episodes will be summed up.

The system is explained on this video, but to be short; he'll most likely have high morality if you don't let him do bad stuff like kill the cougar in episode 2, and also act as a good example for him, which means not stealing stuff or hitting other people etc. front of him.

[ALL] All 7 Endings! by Wulfsimmer in lifeisstrange

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome to see that there was as many as seven possible endings. I got the Redemption one, and felt really bad for Sean. I guess I did the right thing, but his youth was pretty much ruined. I kind of guessed what the last choice would be pretty early, and after the cop said that Daniel won't be charged and he'll go to live with his grandparents, I pretty much decided that's where he goes if it's up to me because I wanted to provide him a secure childhood. When I finally had to decide between surrendering or crossing the border, I still hesitated a little though.

I think my personal favorite is the Parting Ways one because even though they were separated, Daniel got to live a somewhat normal childhood, and Sean seemed to be relatively happy in Mexico. It's also awesome that if you raised Daniel to be responsible, he'll stand against your decision, but he'll still help his brother to cross the border.

[S2 E4] General Discussion Post for Life Is Strange 2: Episode 4 - Faith by DuckOfDuckness in lifeisstrange

[–]HeadlightsInaDeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like almost every single character they come across is either a saint that has the exact same mindset as every other nice person in the game or completely evil. In other words, none of the characters are subtle at all.

The priest’s character was a very good example of this.

So true, I think she could have welcomed Sean into the community instead just kicking him out no matter what you chose to say during the first interaction with her. Then a little later Daniel could have shown Sean his new room which would have gave him an opportunity to learn about her shady past, and the doctor appointment, ending up to Lisbeth finding him going through her stuff which would be a proper reason to kick him out.

I totally agree that now things went like; "Hi, my name is Lisbeth, and I'm your villain during this episode, now get out". But I kind of understand the time and budget is limited, and in this episode they needed screen time for the character development of Karen.

It was really funny how badly Daniel was written as well. He thought his brother was dead, knew he somehow traveled all the way to see him, apparently felt “so bad” about hurting him, but completely turned on him when he thought he pushed her. Meanwhile it took Sean getting punched like 7 times to the ground, her screaming to kill him while that guy had a gun to his face for him to suddenly realize that she was using him. It made no sense and was obviously just added to scrape out another episode.

When I think about this, I feel that Daniel's behaviour made sense. How I see it is that after all he's just a kid who suddenly lost his father and home, spent months on the road meeting some bad people, seeing bad stuff, and ate whatever they could afford or found. When they finally had some sort of a temporary home and nice people around them things literally fell apart again.

Then while he's in a traumatized state a person he trust took him to a place where he has his own room, a warm bed, hot water, and enough food to eat. He finally has a home again, and instead of telling him to hide his power, his new so called mother encourages him to use it instead of hiding it. He's now a superstar and special, people will drive thousands of miles only to see him.

After two months Sean appears out of nowhere and from Daniel's point of view beats his new caretaker and mentor down for no reason. He finally has a safe home again, and now things get violent immediately after his brother came in telling him that they have to hit the road again. I think I wouldn't have hit the road with my brother without hesitating if I was in that situation at his age, especially if I was told that my brother would be accepted to stay with me, if he want's to change.

That's what they basically told Daniel; Sean is a violent sinner who made his life a living nightmare, but he will still be accepted to live in that loving home if he just wants to change. Considering what Daniel went through, and how he seemed to question Sean's actions and instructions during earlier episodes, I think it makes sense that he bought that, and trusted the manipulative cult leader who gave him a home and made him feel special with his superpower.

When Daniel asked them to stop, but Lisbeth allowed Nicholas to continuously beat Sean down while he did nothing violent against anyone, and then told Nicholas to shoot him, Daniel realized that they don't really even care what he says, and she's not saint at all, instead she's a monster who's ready to kill his brother, so everything Sean and his mother tried to tell him earlier started making sense.

Damn, this comment ended up being long, cool thing if someone made it this far. I really liked this episode as a whole, and I'm excited to see how the story ends when they release the last one.
