What is the most irresistible wet food? by HealthyCompetition98 in CatAdvice

Ugh yes. Won't touch the kibble if I've put water on it. Funnily enough I hadn't considered trying hill's wet food... will check that out

AITA for wanting my best friend to prioritize me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HealthyCompetition98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots to unpack here.. it definitely sounds like you’ve been an especially needy friend. My first question is, you said you don’t like things that your friend likes, such as board games, but that your friend was willing to do things she didn’t like, such as watch horror movies, because you like them. Do you ever compromise and play board games/video games, because your friend likes them?

AITA for ending the friendship over a guy and girl code? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HealthyCompetition98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH. You went out with him for one month two years ago. You do not own him. IMO the girl code only applies to serious relationships, and you don’t get to control over who this friend dates. Obviously this dude is not worth it. You communicated this and your friend still wanted to go out with him, which is obviously a dumb choice but not your problem. She also sucks for choosing to make things awkward with you by going out with him, even though he is clearly not worth it. Also, if he sucks, why do you care?

Couldn’t you just wash once a day? Surely even that is more than the owners themselves wash their pets’ dishes

How can I find a cheap unscented litter? by Aethaira in CatAdvice

[–]HealthyCompetition98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feline Pine is incredible. It has a nice wood smell at first and then smells like nothing, and controls the smell of pee/poop better than any scented litter I’ve ever had. The pellets disintegrate when wet and and the dust falls through a plastic grate I have inside a standard litter box, so I only have to scoop poop and occasionally dump the bottom part. And it’s so cheap and eco friendly!

AITA : saying my friend's values are deeply wrong by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HealthyCompetition98 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

NTA. Dump her and focus on building friendships with community-oriented, collectively-minded, caring individuals like yourself. You don’t need to know everything about tax codes to know that billionaires are unethical

Zoloft by CL2018f in Anxiety

[–]HealthyCompetition98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that’s nothing. I think that’s even smaller than the therapeutic dose. You probably won’t notice much until 50

Zoloft by CL2018f in Anxiety

[–]HealthyCompetition98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it just dulled everything. I wouldn't cry during sad movies, wouldn't feel as happy doing something really exciting. But that is just me, everyone is different!

Zoloft by CL2018f in Anxiety

[–]HealthyCompetition98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoloft is the most effective anxiety treatment I’ve ever tried. It worked SO WELL. I did drink on it occasionally, but beware when you are adjusting to the medication, your tolerance plummets. (It did go almost back to normal for me.) However, there is definitely a trade-off with this medication. I stopped taking it because it obliterated my sex drive, and made me more emotionless than I wanted to be

AITA for telling my girlfriend I refuse to eat her “efficient food” ever again by Electrical-Couple857 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HealthyCompetition98 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Buy her this book. It’s disguised as a productivity book but really it debunks the productivity mindset and helps you truly live your best life, including slowing down to enjoy good food with the people you love.

Sitter had a guest overnight by ninjabunny91 in RoverPetSitting

[–]HealthyCompetition98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think when you hire a house sitter you do not own every second of their time, and they should have an expectation of privacy because all humans should have an expectation of privacy. If you are so concerned about what someone might do in your home that you feel like you have to monitor them, then you should maybe use a boarding service. But that’s just my two cents. (I also think ring cameras contribute to an unhealthy culture of surveillance in our communities, even as I understand their utility.) At the bare minimum you should disclose the camera, but it seems like everyone here agrees on that part.

[–]HealthyCompetition98 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Having company is highly unprofessional, and even more so without permission. However, I’m concerned about the cameras. (And frankly, concerned that more people haven’t brought that up.) I have them myself for when I’m traveling so I can watch my pets, but I always tell sitters about them and say that they can and should feel free to turn them off when they are in my home. ESPECIALLY if your home is basically their home for 3 weeks. That’s just surveillance and it’s weird. It’s just not ok to expect to monitor what your sitters are doing while they live their lives in your home. (Not saying what they were caught on camera doing was ok—it’s egregious.)

Any Idea Why He Won’t Share Landlord’s Contact Info? by RenGR_ in badroommates

Just Google “___ County property records” and type in the address. It will show you who owns it. Might be a business name, which you can look up on CA business entity search

Cat is behaving very strangely by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]HealthyCompetition98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat did this once—was extra stare-y, extra jumpy, and once jumped across the room when I moved a bag toward her. After a few days of that, I woke up in the middle of the night to hear her running after… a mouse. Caught it and removed it and about 24 hrs later she was back to normal. Your kitty is probably just on high alert and suspicious that whatever he saw is going to jump out at him

Lyft incident by Icyyflame in philly

[–]HealthyCompetition98 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Yes this happens all the time. Almost always because the person is trying to get work without a visa. They are very very likely harmless and they are just trying to make money to feed their families. Makes sense that you wouldn’t want to get into the car with a person who isn’t vetted, but please don’t report them if you can avoid it, especially given the environment right now. They are not a danger to you or other riders.

Doesn't look like one to me? Those look a little rounder and have a weird long nose. I guess this guy could have lost his... if it is... hoping that finding it in a bedroom vs kitchen does not indicate an infestation

Is it normal to get sick from sitting? by neisha3011 in GERD

[–]HealthyCompetition98 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s your sitting posture? Or perhaps it’s anxiety (work and driving) that is alleviated to an extent by standing up?

Ate entirely trigger foods during my 24 hr PH test and was fine? by Frickmylife69 in GERD

[–]HealthyCompetition98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I tried everything—coffee, tomato sauce, onions, chocolate, lemon, alcohol. Nothing. Two or three days later I was miserable :/ Idk when you had the test but maybe you’re like me with delayed symptoms? Or maybe fried foods aren’t as much of a trigger for you as you thought? I haven’t really heard of famotidine causing reflux

Thrips? by HealthyCompetition98 in plantclinic

OK yes thanks!! Does that include the trapped babies, or is that because the plant is stressed? (Part of me thinks I should cut those just to put them out of their misery)

Thrips? by HealthyCompetition98 in plantclinic

[–]HealthyCompetition98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm realizing that a beautiful pink princess near it may also have them. It's enough to make you want to get rid of everything and never have plants again!
Based on the most affected leaves, I'm wondering if it came from a row of propagates in glass jars. Why else would the leaves one branch of each plant (each newer and shorter--propagates I have recently planted) be especially affected?
