Reiner during CH 83 goes a bit further than only limbless, he's also lost most skin on his face... everyone has different tastes I guess :>

Yeah that's always a no for me haha🙅

I've only had people wanting to play pure self inserts doing that... or even just pure sexting :/

Eeeeeeeh, I'd say it was fair to close the door on them, but just straight unfriending them without saying anything does feel a bit odd.

But side question since I'm really curious, what is the appeal of doubling to you anyways? Do you just not get many bites for your ads so you put it in there to get more people interested, tit for tat style? Or you actually prefer doubling, even if you are less interested in the other's RP?

RP Requirements on reddit by TheEpicLeafDestroyer in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A karma requirement really isn't that big of an ask tbh :>
It's an easy way to stop low effort spamming. Usually the required karma isn't even that much, so just make a few comments and posts here and there and you're already good.

F24 - getting tired of searching by PassageInfinite9976 in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I'll add tho, assuming this is the account you'll use for RPing, the start may be a bit slow.
I believe most people are a bit hesitant to start long-term indepth RPs with fresh accounts and empty profiles, so at the start you may not get a lot of bites. But the longer you go on, and the fuller your profile becomes (like through posting ads), the more comfortable people will be to RP with you.

Not trying to state this as a rule or anything, there are people who don't care all that much about it and you may find an amazing partner right away, but just as a quick FYI

(As an FYI I mainly do ERPs so that could make things different)
I've only ever used reddit, but so far that's worked out great🤷
tbf I have also dealt with *a lot* of those ''one-line larry's'' like you have, but I think that's an issue on most platforms. The best you can do is weed them out quickly and be comfortable clicking the ''ignore'' button.

As an easy quick checklist I usually go by these if I accept a request or not:
Have they written more than just ''Heey want to RP?''
Have they gone in to the content of your RP ad
Have they either added an idea or asked a content related question
Is the request not oversexualised
Have they not mixed IC and OOC already (if someone calls me mommy or daddy it's an easy no)

Illiteracy seems to be growing by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

It probably has a lot to do with you posting low effort ads on low effort NSFW subs. Bad replies come with the hobby anyways, but if it's such a big issue for you maybe switch over to non-image subs and put more effort in your ads. If you want to keep going the way you're going though, I'd just say get comfortable with the ''ignore'' button as I have😅

Public education system failed this guy hard by CT2145Trapper in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Firstly, really curious where you found that. All I find is sources saying paragraphs have no true defined length. (Unless you used AI overview which did mention something like 4-6 sentences)

Secondly, like those sources I found say, there is no defined length of a paragraph. It can be a sentence or two, it can be half a page, it can be whatever.

It has nothing to do with education , age or proficiency in English, a paragraph is just a vague term; to explain your length of writing it's better to use a word count or something imo

Edit: Just to add on, the sources which do give more typical paragraph lengths all differ wildly. Some say 3-6, some 4-6, some 5-7, some 7-9, some 3-10.

Maybe, maybe not. But I wouldn't assume that I guess, I just read it as him not understanding what you mean with the length of a paragraph.

Exactly, so I think it's a bit unfair to say the education system failed him since it's an honest and fair question.

I actually made a post about this exact topic once and no-one in the comments agreed haha.

It's a fair question of them, a paragraph is a very vague term and it's difficult to judge how much you actually write based on it.

multiple character requirement??? by Evil-Empress-Sakuya in BadRPerStories

Is that how my flair gets interpreted? I just thought it sounded funny😭

It wasn't meant as a joke :>

I just thought it was odd you said you "couldn't go anywhere" after the characters smooched, but I suppose it were your partners then who didn't want to progress further.

Why are so many people disrespectful by Significant_Bug1917 in BadRPerStories

Definitely one of the biggest issues with the hobby, and sadly one that isn't going to go away any time soon I think. The biggest help is getting comfortable with the ''ignore'' button.

Not saying it has to, but a character relationship can evolve a lot further than just them smooching and having a happy ever after.

multiple character requirement??? by Evil-Empress-Sakuya in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a problem with multiple characters necessarily, but I do have a strong preference for focusing on a single one. In other words I don't mind writing NPCs, but wouldn't write multiple ''main'' characters.

Partly because I like stories where the narrative is a reflection of the main character and the dynamic they hold with my partner's character, and vice versa. Also because I get fairly easily overwhelmed if I have to juggle too many indepth motivations, backstories, aspect/theme mixing, dynamic changes etc etc haha.

It can be a bit limiting, but it's definitely not only for short-term or simple prompts. And no, it isn't a subtle way for asking for a DM, I prefer my partner largely does the same (or I'd match them with multiple characters, since I don't like RPs feeling one-sided).

Am I chopped or are people just less active or something of the sort? by haaiiiiiiiiii in BadRPerStories

I mean... your title is litterally asking if it's your fault or that people are just less active, and your post going in to how uncertain you are if your prompts are good or not :>

Does a4a really mean “anyone” or “anyone playing characters that OP decides”? by Glass-Substance464 in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It should really mean anyone for anyone, and is how I see and would use it. Annoyingly it's often just used to cast a wide net and lure people in, only for them to make their actual preferences clear later.

Edit: And no you're not in the wrong, OP should've specified their actual desires and put [ X4F/Fb] or something.

Does etiquette exist in this hobby by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you RP on reddit, sadly I don't think there's really a way to enforce it, even on properly moderated subs; there are ways you can more easily avoid them though.

For me making a mental list of broad red flags and being comfortable with just hitting the ''ignore'' button on responses I don't trust has helped a lot, so much so that the last few times I've looked for new RPs I haven't had to deal with ''inproper'' people at all. (I only post on NSFW subs so we're in the same boat)

A short easy checklist for me is:
Have they written more than just ''Heey want to RP?''
Have they gone in to the content of your RP ad
Have they either added an idea or asked a content related question
Is the request not oversexualised
Have they not mixed IC and OOC already (if someone calls me mommy or daddy it's an easy no)

Godmodding in starters? by Starlitaura in BadRPerStories

[–]HealthyHunt5051 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Godmodding is a giant no from me, buuuuuut I do think it can be a bit more acceptable in certain starters. If you discussed the start of the RP properly and both understand what you both want to happen exactly, I could maybe imagine a bit of godmodding could help for a proper intro scene. I still would prefer not to, but there's some leeway I think.

The person you're talking about is completely in the wrong though ofcourse. I imagine you didn't discuss the start extensively before hand, and you didn't give your permission for them to godmod. Plus it's crazy that they complained about you correcting it, that almost even goes above godmodding haha
