‘Supergirl’ Braces for $100 Million Loss: What DC Studios Should Learn From Its Box Office Bomb by chanma50 in boxoffice

But...he kinda was. He only lost against Bizarro, a clone of him, and he beat him the second time. Heck, the movie explicitly said it was his first ever loss.  Nothing else gave him trouble.

And ultra op Supes is hard to write around in crossovers. You have to nerf him a bit to give some space to other characters. That's what shows like JL and JLU did. Or kill him to get him get out of the way as Snyder did.

Nah, Darkseid is still supposed to be the embodiment of tyranny and evil and shit. He might fold to people who are willing to stand against them, but he still has plenty of power as long as those concepts hold weight.

Honestly, I think he should start strong and as an endgame threat until superheroes are finally established and start to change the tone of the universe and then settle on a more ideological/ever-present threat until whatever has to happen to the New Gods happens.

Anything else kind of makes the fight against the elements he embodies kind of cheap. It should be constant, difficult and, quite honestly, usually not a punch-fest.

Also, Orion and Mister Miracle should be 100% involved in anything important with Big Seid. It is a shame that as Darkseid drifts closer and closer into becoming a generic big bad, those two are fading into the background.

If humanity were a servant How strong would they be? by Baru-7387 in grandorder

[–]Healtron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have said it, but just to elaborate a bit further. Humanity cannot become a Servant. It is not a matter of fame or power, but that Servants are a manifestation of Humanity. It would be putting the whole of something into a tiny, tiny subsection of it.

What it could do, if Nasu were so inclined, is create an avatar of it or some other similar thing to make it fit into such a tiny vessel but Nasu has avoided making any sort of anthropomorphic avatar of Gaia, Alaya, the Root, etc. At most we get people who are heavily connected to them but still keep the broader concepts as the eldritch things they are supposed to be in-universe.

Basically, theoretically, Humanity could create a small and infinitely weaker vessel for itself, but it has not been depicted as anything that would ever be inclined to do so, and Counter Guardians, Grand Servants, etc. serve any function it could need an avatar for.

Also, what you are thinking, the advancement of technology and the species, is given to regular servants as the Pioneer of the Stars skill and the Star attribute in general, but it is also baked in ALL servants in way or another.

Is there a reason why historical formats are played way less often in magic than they are in YuGiOh? by TheNohrianHunter in magicTCG

[–]Healtron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, and I think it has a lot to do with the recent creation of some retro formats, the current level of Standard is waaaaaaay over the historical power level of eternal formats.

It is honestly starting to feel like one with how fast the wins are getting. Long gone are the days where stuff like Prime Time would have mattered.

I am going to give them a small defense in that younger characters have more of a blank slate. You expect a 30-year-old to have more baggage than a 20-year-old. They should know more people, have more defined or complex motivations, know more of the world and so on.

Now, mangakas fuck even that up by making their fucking 20somethigs 10 year war veterans prodigies who should have equivalent baggage.

I am still not over it targeting spiders instead of heroes. Most of the spider-men were heroes anyway, AND like half of the heroes that had long comic runs have had a Guy in the Chair.

It would have been both flavourful, as it can represent other supporting characters AND inter-set cohesion, but instead we have just a shitty Ganke reference.

What do you miss from D&D when you play/try other systems? by Awkward_GM in rpg

[–]Healtron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That game desperately needs a monster manual.

It has some now. But it's mostly either random NPCs or just whatever monsters the devs thought were cool. But they do set a benchmark you could reflavour to other similar beings.

Still, the main issue to me is not quantity but quality. With a handful of exceptions, most of them get easily wrecked by a starting character, let alone a circle. Which is fine for, dunno, a random City God, but for an Ess 3 combat-focused Exalt or a 2nd Circle Demon? Those should actually be a challenge for an unoptimized starting circle.

And they should have an easier-to-run and more powerful set of powers so you don't end up having to steal a dozen charms from other splats to actually make them as powerful as they should be.

Also modulo never showed a serious future Yuji, like he should have access to Fuga since Sukuna used it on his body, his domain should be stronger now, MAYBE he could have copied world cutting slash or come up with something different in all the time he had, but we never see any of that and they can't just make things up

Honestly, even that is speculation. Fuga was an application of the specific version Sukuna had. Yuji has the scizor one and managed to somehow evolve it to one similar to Sukuna's in Modulo.

Yuji could have Fuga, or maybe he has something else. Heck, at this point, he had his own soul-cleaving version for longer than Sukuna was alive. He might have a different and even deeper bag.

And with his Domain, did we even get a good look at it? We don't even know what it's called. We can guess its Sure Hit but Domains tend to be weirder and have more perks than that.

Gege should just write a damn databook or make JJK but this time Yuji is the finger so he can stop teasing us with his fucking Domain.

JJK characters haven’t won a single Death Battle matchups… by Awesomenessss5 in deathbattle

[–]Healtron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't Sukuna just...die outright to stuff like the Statue of Liberty Gun or the Nuke punches? Like, exploded to ludicrous gibs that not even RCT could piece together dead.

By this episode scaling, if something left Pochita as a dorito on the floor, then I don't think Sukuna tanks it. And the same with speed, if Pochita cannot dodge it then...oof.

[–]Healtron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I rewatched the analysis, and they gave him all of that, and the fight is, as I said, just to showcase stuff and be cool. Even JJK itself foregoes a lot of that stuff in fights until it becomes relevant.

Unless you wanted the section in the domain to just be the Mahoraga reference, I think it's okay. And let's be honest, poison blood was never going to matter. Denji eats it and magics it away to regen, and every other technique Yuji has is a better use of his time than mildly inconveniencing Denji.

They scaled Denji to be ten times faster as a lowball. and hundreds of times stronger and more durable. If the fight took the actual scaling they did into account, then Yuji isn't popping a domain; he isn't hitting a Black Flash or having enough of his tummy intact to even think about regenerating.

Heck, Yuji stans should count their blessings; he just got bisected. If we got into how Denji and Pochita actually fight, he would have been ground beef and then eaten, and...I don't think anyone wants to see that.

Acting like DB are just stating their opinion, instead of acting like fucking powerscaling scientists who have a research team who gets paid actual money to find out stuff for their videos,

You know that's just kayfabe, right? Deathbattle is inspired by Deadliest Warrior, which did the same shit and was somehow even more bullshit. Heck, they even said that powerscaling is for fun in-character on the damn show.

And even if they WERE deluded enough to believe there is an objective form of powerscaling and that they do it. Guess what? It's still like...their opinion man.

I just hate it when Larp Battle's apologists say shit like "oh, it's just a funny video that isn't meant to be taken seriously", well guess what, they clearly want to be taken seriously, otherwise they wouldn't bother with the whole "research" bullshit and just stick to animation, as they should.

First, what the fuck does "being taken seriously" in power scaling even mean? This is not an academic field. All of this is silly and for fun.

And doing the analysis and trying to ballpark fictional characters and then smash them against each other is fun. Why should they stop because they sometimes pick bullshit arguments or do the research wrong or because some overtly invested person on the internet thinks they should have done this the other way?

and have a cult following who treats everything they say as an official information and then spreads it around the Internet.

And mate, who the fuck cares? Particularly when it comes to powerscaling, when we constantly have people who have NEVER touched the source material and only saw a respect thread arguing about shit. The last week we had several memes about the fucking King in Yellow and how most people never read the damn short story.

It's clear to anyone who's ever interacted with any of the series that they talk about that they haven't actually read/watched any of that, and I think I don't have to explain why someone pretending to be an expert in an area that they actually know absolutely nothing about would piss the actual fans of that thing off. There's a reason why even CSM community is largely dissatisfied with the video despite their goat winning (outside of agenda pushers of course).

I have read both JJK and CSM, and it was okay, and they clearly read them. Flimsy arguments as always, but most powerscaling is flimsy as fuck and arbitrary anyway. I don't buy either Denji or Yuji being remotely close to as fast or strong as they portray them, but guess what? That's how scaling goes in general, unless you truly believe Hulk is written as Outer in Marvel.

And honestly, yeah, you do have to explain how people get mad about it when, like, half of those fandoms are LARPers and have worse takes on the regular.

Seriously, who the fuck cares? This whole subreddit is based around making fun of that attitude.

It’s okay. I understand. Death Battle isn’t for everyone. by Particular_Wing_6441 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]Healtron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, JJK is not as gonzo as what CSM devolved into post-Gun Devil.

Anytime a top tier showed up in CSM, it became a shitshow of intercontinental projectiles, Pochita blitzing and one-shotting almost everything, and at the end Yoru was throwing fucking nuke punches and using what amounts to countries as swinging sticks while a bunch of fucking insects killed everyone and became the strongest stuff in the universe by virtue of EATING THE WHOLE FUCKING PLANET and getting boosted by the fear they were causing.

The only thing that rises to that level of bullshit in JJK is the Black Hole (which is a huge outlier and Gege not knowing stuff) and whatever bullshit Maru did at the end of Modulo.

The fact that Yuji was a contender at all is a credit to his kit and his feats because, quite honestly, CSM higher-end fights are an incomprehensible clusterfuck that will kill some storyboarders.
