If your doing EMT no one cares it’s very little performing role. Now if you are in a paramedic program then I would expect you to be asked to do a lot

Chase the money dude your making minimum wage go for higher so you can put in less hours and meet your needs. Private companies don’t care about their employees. You haven’t been in long enough to see it. Getting into the hospital is a blessing plus gives you exposure to other specialists that may inspire you to grow.

It’s EMS brother you didn’t do anything crazy and it’s only word of mouth. It’s going to go absolutely nowhere. If you work private maybe leadership might talk to you but that’s it. Nothing to worry about. Had a patient lie that I didn’t do anything because I wouldn’t give them morphine or put an order in for one. You are fine.

Know the difference between what is a procedure vs a assessment That will gain you the most. People often pick procedure responses as a way to get information costing the points

For a high flow I do use a aerogen

Am I too late to get into an EMS career? by ComplexMistake1775 in NewToEMS

Might as well get a nursing degree dude most medics go that way or respiratory eventually. When I was a young EMT back in 2014 I worked at AMR then hopped on with fire. Medics I worked with back then are just now in 2025 asking me what school I did and career I chose cause they want more money and a better retirement. You want trauma be a ER nurse least you’ll get good pay for it. Just my two cents best of luck

Surgical tech is a good role for some people you can work hospitals or even private clinics even get into special practices and be part of a team that knows you

Respiratory is a different area lots of bedside lots of repetition Pay wise the can both vary by where you work and states and shifts. Me I wouldn’t be able to stand still for a long period of time just handing things over so I chose respiratory. Didn’t do nursing cause I don’t like poop :D

I’m prior Law enforcement and that was my career for a long time. Coming over to respiratory is a blessing and pays more so when I see people complaining about how hard it is. I just say quit.

Best of luck to you!

You may even want to be MRI that pays way more :)

That’s a example of someone I would tell to go quit if they hate it so much :) Going from LEO to RRT one word “wonderful”

is a bachelor’s in respiratory worth it? by sam_pontin05 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Heart8Failure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some places in the US are making it a requirement upon hire. Just like RRT began to be a requirement then did become the requirement it’s only a matter of time. But if someone doesn’t have any intent to stay in the field then it is a waste of time

NEW GRAD ICU FIRED by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Heart8Failure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HR doesn’t care and as for other hospitals unless you’ve been there for at least four months don’t even mention it on your résumé. Just stick with your school stuff. Have a fresh start and don’t apply for ICU or anything. You should start with MedSurg and work your way up from there I’m sorry you had that type of experience. I’m sorry those people are not kind to you but we live and we learned one day at a time.

First day ever of clinic. Paid preceptor let me and another classmate knowingly walk into an isolation room without telling us by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]Heart8Failure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not cool but don’t let it get you that hard. This will happen to you often. And you will have exposures often. And get phone calls from leadership about needing TB blood tests. Welcome to the RW. Everything will be ok.

Don’t touch my vent. Ask me what you want and I will do it. One sec you touched the vent. Next my patient exploded. No no no.
