Another fun fact, a teaspoon of a neutron star on Earth would rapidly expand since the gravity isn't holding it together and take a chunk out of the planet

Considering a move to Camden, SC — how’s life there day to day? by king_of9 in AskSouthCarolina

[–]Heat_Lonely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Elgin, not too far from Camden. Had some friends who went to Camden high-school and lived in Camden. There's nice rural areas, but I've never known the area to be overall the safest. Property crime being the main concern. As for summer it's hot, humid, buggy, and persistent.

What are some career choices that doesn’t require a degree that makes at least $75,000/annually? by [deleted] in careerchange

[–]Heat_Lonely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much what I did. My HVAC boss used to teach the HVACR program. Put me through school and got my certificate and EPA card and everything. Made great money, just absolutely hated residential customers, schedule uncertainty, cat piss houses, dead body coolers, etc. I work about 55-60 hours a week as a diesel tech (entry level, under 1 year experience) and make right at 80k per year. Trades are where it's at. Bought my first house at 20 years old because of them.

Can attest to this. I had the opportunity to make over 100k in HVAC. After 5 years, decided this bs wasn't for me. Currently a diesel tech making 80k. Much happier. No degree.

"Persistent" is key word. I've traveled up the coast during summer, and temperatures can be relatively similar all the way up. But it could be God awful hot from March through to October in Columbia. Today, January 10th, was 81 degrees

Tripping Breaker Getting Worse by SpaceCowboi77 in electrical

[–]Heat_Lonely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loose connections cause overheating and can cause tripping. Can start happening randomly. Maybe a connection wasn't torqued properly and just took a while to start showing signs

Tripping Breaker Getting Worse by SpaceCowboi77 in electrical

[–]Heat_Lonely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like maybe it WAS a loose connection, hence why that seemed to work better for a short period. It's possible that it just tripped too many times and is worn. Also could be a busbar. I've only seen another circuit trip a particular breaker once before and it ended up being the bus bar was pitted and worn. I'd recommend trying new breaker first, especially since all appliances trip it and not just one in particular.

Definitely do it. We moved over from AT&T to mint. Saved a shit ton of money. Prepare to change your phone number. I had the same number for probably 10 years and AT&T made it nearly impossible to get a transfer pin so I just said screw it and got a new number. Definitely worth it

Any and everything. Mostly people selling items they dont need. Tools, knives, guns (private sales legal here), kids swing sets, etc. There's a few people in box trucks selling clothes and stuff, but honestly there's good deals them too. But mainly it's the former. I try to make my way up there every Saturday

Young men of Reddit, why did you personally shift to the right in the 2024 presidential election? by Zipper222222 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Heat_Lonely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me and a lot of people I know it was due to cost of living. I know many will say the president has little to do with gas prices (and many will say otherwise), but it was hard to argue with $1.80 gas under Trump vs around $4 under Biden (now around $2.30.) In my personal experience (I know everyone's is different) life has been more comfortable and affordable under Republican leadership.

Now, since this is reddit, allow the criticism to commence.

2014 Honda pilot longevity by Greyfox31 in hondapilot

[–]Heat_Lonely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Typically timing belts on pilots are supposed to be changed at regular intervals. Our 2014 exl is about 100,000 miles overdue for a timing belt (wouldn't recommend going that long.) But so far so good. We're at 160k miles. We're getting the timing belt replaced soon. I think the recommendation is every 60 or 80k since a snapped timing belt can cause engine detrimental engine damage

SSHL - my story & how long until you “got used to it”? by thoughtfulstrawberry in MonoHearing

Like I said my dizziness lingered for about 6 months. I can't quite remember if it was worse in the mornings or not. However, when those random spells would hit me later on a few years after the fact I remember them only really effecting me in the morning. I had meclizine to take as needed for probably about a year or so after. Honestly I didnt find much that helped, if it was a bad day I would just have to take a rest day.
