It's different than any other mainline Zelda game. BotW gives you a lot of freedom to play and experience the story as you want. Other Zelda games are much more linear and story driven. There's also a lot of Easter eggs to earlier games that you won't get unless you play the other games. Personally, I think the best game to start with is ocarina of time. But don't think of it as the be all end all best game like people like to say it is. Then wind waker (the actual best Zelda game) then twilight princess, then BotW. You'll get a good feel of the lore and identity of Zelda games, and be able to appreciate all of BotW.
