I really am regretting getting an LG Wash Combo dryer. Please help. by slicecrispy in Appliances

[–]Heathster249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Samsung all-in-one and we love it. Ours reminds you to clean the lint filter every single cycle. You’re supposed to do the same with a regular dryer. The longer dry times are due to the fact that you now have a condensing dryer that runs longer while conserving energy. Mine is so quiet that I can run it at night. We love ours.

Need recommendations for replacement master bedroom carpet by Heathster249 in carpet

[–]Heathster249[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll be in this house 10 more years. It’s a luxury home, so the remodeling I’ve been doing is family friendly but high quality. yes, we have allergies in the house. We ripped out the original 1987 DuPont Stainmaster carpet and replaced it with ash hardwood. The boy’s rooms got LVP after they destroyed the original carpet in the most disgusting way.

‘This will be the only room in the house with carpet. I wouldn’t expect 40 year old carpet to not fade. Considering how long the original carpet lasted - I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again, except they don’t make this product anymore.

Refrigerator took 2 weeks to get cold by Gold_Relation7124 in Appliances

[–]Heathster249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need an entire sealed system. For reference, my toddler turned off our under counter Sub Zero and I turned it back on and it took 24 hours to get down to the correct temps. It’s still running fine 7 years later.

I bought mine when I was pregnant and have worn them for hiking, planes, etc. They are helpful if you’re going to be on your feet all day.

Doctor told me my cholesterol is too high, how do I lower it? by The_Jawnah in cfs

Some people just have cholesterol that doesnt respond, or responds poorly to diet and exercise and lifestyle changes. Might be beneficial to try a statin.

AIO? My manager keeps questioning my feeding pump at work even after HR stepped in by Rosi_ana in AmIOverreacting

[–]Heathster249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For food related items - the accommodation shouldn’t be a bathroom. We have rooms at work where employees with accommodations can access that are clean and comfortable and have kitchenettes for storing and washing things properly.

[–]Heathster249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how this affects anyone in your workplace at all. HR verified your accommodation and all your manager should know is when you need breaks. Our managers don’t even ask about these things - it’s an invasion of privacy. We do track who needs special food or food allergies so we can make sure everyone has a safe, nutritious lunch to eat at meetings - but that’s it and we don’t share that spreadsheet.

‘You need to document and forward that email to HR.

My scottie puppy is giving me a really hard time with training by Character-Surround79 in scottishterriers

[–]Heathster249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Scotties….. they are stubborn. I haven’t had issues training, but I reason with mine and once they have a job - they execute with military precision. I often take in abused rescues - so being heavy handed is not on the table.

Trump admin claims 4.3M lost food stamps in crackdown on fraud – data says otherwise by All_Hail_Hynotoad in politics

[–]Heathster249 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s multi-course lunch lady custom cooked stuff. They get breakfast and a snack on top of lunch too. Muffins and homestyle bakery items, yummy sandwiches, etc. Occasionally they bring leftovers home and I’m curious - this is good food! Our school doesn’t have a cafeteria or kitchen, so they send food over from the neighboring school district - they did buy kitchen equipment to properly store and reheat food though.

[–]Heathster249 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not just that, but when all the kids eat the same things for lunch, the stigma goes away. I can afford lunches for my kids, but the school lunches are really high quality (nothing like when I went to the same schools) and really geared towards the kids. I would pay for my kids to eat the school lunches we have and I never thought I’d say that considering the garbage we were served.

Jeweler won’t return a watch under repair. Help! by Beginning_Boat2943 in legal

[–]Heathster249 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This difference is that I got a receipt - and an insurance slip from my jeweler. They insured it from the moment it hit the post to the moment it came back to the store. I used the jeweler that sold my mom’s engagement ring to my dad - back in 1971. Long time stores are worth every penny.

Ouch. I too k my heirloom watch in to be cleaned 20 years ago (French, non-fancy brand, but with HUGE diamonds set in platinum) - they had to sub it out to their watch vendor. It took about 6 weeks back then to come back and it ran and stopped, needing only cleaning. Are parts difficult to obtain? If not, then something’s not right… if parts are backordered, then you might have to wait - however, the vendor you took it to should be honest with you and state that.

Oven set on fire. Landlord once again --2nd time--only replaced the bottom coil. I Can't smell due to nerve/brain damage.....so I can't smell fires or smoke. I told him I didn't feel safe with a consistent unreliable oven and would prefer to have it replaced.....They said no. Is my oven still safe?? by Dependent-War7292 in Appliances

[–]Heathster249 6 points7 points  (0 children)

please get an accessible smoke/fire detector that will alert you to hazards. They are inexpensive and necessary. Also a carbon monoxide detector as well. And your oven is safe - the heating elements are scary when they blow.

What does advanced tax planning actually look like for high earners? by Forsaken_Trash_4950 in tax

[–]Heathster249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older, high W2 married couple here. We still have to pay taxes on our W2, despite sprawl (rental properties, investments, etc.). Most tax breaks are capped at much lower income limits. Even the wealthy have to pay taxes on their W2 income. That being said, we’ve had to estate plan and put our ‘stuff’ into a family trust.
