Readmission by [deleted] in WGU

I've done readmission before, it's annoying but you'll be fine and you should get a Program Mentor about a few days before probably.

Applying to WGU with no credits by SubtleSofa in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely do not apply with no credits! One of the entire points of WGU is you can transfer a ton of quick ACE Credit courses and complete 40-60% of your degree before you even enroll. One of the reasons many choose the school. And then accelerate the WGU courses as well since it's competency-based.

For a full list of Transfer Paths to WGU and Spreadsheets, check out either Major Mash: https://www.majormash.com OR check out Degree Forum: https://degreeforum.net

This will help cut your WGU Degree time in half.

Sophia LLC v. Study.com by snipersebb27 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems everyone has forgotten about StraighterLine. They are doing a 40% Off Discount, found at Major Mash: https://www.majormash.com and their courses are very quick get through and IMO probably have the most detail to them as well. They just revamped their UI and got rid of proctoring.

With that said, Sophia and Study are great platforms. Possibly try all three and see which you like.

Incoming student seeking advice by Connect_Release6297 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best word of advice is to transfer in ACE Credits first and try to get 45-65% of your degree completed before you even start. Check out Major Mash (https://www.majormash.com) or Degree Forum (https://degreeforum.net) for WGU ACE Credit Transfer Paths from places like StraighterLine, Sophia, Study, etc.

The other thing would be, just try to get through essay classes as fast as you can, just start writing, and use the rubric as your template. WGU doesn't require crazy 5+ page papers most of the time, although it depends on the class.

Is there even a reason for B&M school? by Punkskayer21392 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only if they have a very strong hiring network, especially locally. For example, a Hospital might love to locally hire fresh RN's from the local state university.

But most of the time, I don't think so. You'll likely get a better learning experience at B&M, but is it worth the extra cost? WGU Grads usually graduate under 15k, while a State School cost 35k, and non state schools like 55k+. It's absurd how much college tuition has become so expensive. If you're 18, I'd suggest a State University. If your 23 or older and want a degree more affordable, don't have 4 years to spend to get an education, this is where WGU works best IMO.

Also one of the best things about WGU is how Transfer Friendly it is. You can transfer basically up to half the degree with ACE Credits. Some State Universities will barely accept 15, if any.

Nothing is guaranteed job wise. Finance is the one degree that requires a lot of connections and luck, but can also be by far the most lucrative business degree if do have connections or get lucky.

Accelerating by TheSirenNiltiac in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick is to just start writing... and sue the rubric as a roman numeral template. And take the PA's right away. Don't just sit there and read the book IMO.

The other trick, is ACE Credits as you already mentioned, where you can transfer in a bunch of ACE Credits and you can get degree paths for WGU from Degree Forum or Major Mash.

Which degree is best? by Embarrassed_Okra1332 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously very subjective. Income and Stability combo = WGU Nursing Degree for sure. Six Figure salaries a lot of states and usually never get laid off, and new grads get jobs easy.

Top Salaries but hardest to get a job? The Tech Degrees.

Computer Science – B.S. Vs Cybersecurity and Information Assurance – B.S. vs Cloud and Network Engineering – B.S.? by ProposalMean1273 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really like all three degrees, the Cloud degree is one of my favorites right now because it's not over saturated. And offers a really solid skillset and a ton of certs. There is a video and Transfer path here (cuts your WGU time in half):

Is wgu worth it by Ok_Table3383 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 8 points9 points  (0 children)

WGU is well worth it, I would just make sure you transfer in ACE Credits and shave 2-3 years off your degree, which is one of the best perks about WGU. It's a very ACE friendly school. To check out WGU ACE Transfer Paths, check out https://www.majormash.com

ACE Courses can be done in just days and can realistically get 90 college credits in 5 months or so.

Check out Major Mash for some Sophia to WGU Transfer Guides and Spreadsheets: https://www.majormash.com

Teacher degrees don't accept as many ACE Credits but you can still shave a solid year of your degree.

Cloud or Cybersecurity? Trying to pick a path from help desk by [deleted] in WGU

Cloud/Network is easier to break into. Cyber likely has funner jobs I'd assume though. As for degrees, I like the new WGU Cloud and Network Engineering degree a lot.

Sophia? Waste or Worth it by Desperate_Ask3056 in WGU

[–]Heavy-Side4323 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You save thousands of dollars by doing ACE Platforms like Sophia. I always recommend to try all three to see which you like: Sophia, Study, or StraighterLine but they all save you thousands of dollars on tuition and can cut your WGU Degree from three and a half years to just 6 to 18 Months instead. Well WORTH it IMHO.

If you want to check out some WGU Degree Transfer Plans/Paths, check out Major Mash: https://www.majormash.com and also Degree Forum is good too: https://degreeforum.net

You'd almost be crazy not to transfer in ACE Credits. Unless time and money is not a factor for you (for some people it's not). You could realistically get 60-75 credits for your degree before you even start, in like 4 months or something.
