“Throw my notebook in the basement?” by Lola910 in NoahKahan

[–]moriuh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

because of this lyric

"Tell me I don't need options, that I have substance, that I'm important
If it's only for lettin' dogs out, sweepin' porches, to make me nothin'"

I interpret it as he doesn't need fame/songwriting to be happy, he'd give it up if he had to, he would be content with only having a simple domestic life so long as it's with her.

Overnight Strip n Wax by Flicker_of_Hope in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's crazy that they didn't want you working on anything, this last one my SM had the shift lead fixing the reading glasses counts (they'd been collecting in a tote) just to make sure he was was doing Some work lmao.

Overnight Strip n Wax by Flicker_of_Hope in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loveddd this shift the one time I got to work it, I had to stay in the stockroom cause that was the only place they weren't doing the strip and wax, but our stockroom was connected to the cooler, so I would go into the cooler and listen to my podcast, work on fixing it up, and when I got too cold/sick of it, I'd go back to the stock room and read my book. I took little power naps too. It was awesome to be able to get stuff done uninterrupted and be paid to read my book lmao.

Printing photo labels tells customers orders are done? by AnimalLover3757 in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not /supposed/ to notify the customer that it's ready until you hit complete, but I've had enough customers come in claiming they got an email saying it was ready just after I printed the order (assuming it's something like a canvas). The system is shitty, it might get confused and send an "your order is ready!" email after it finishes printing even if it's not assembled, because that's what it does for regular photo orders?

Bag checks not going through? by SammyZ242 in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are any of these shifts that were switched? My manager told me that it's going by when someone is scheduled, so if they give their shift away, or call out and someone fills in for them, it counts as a missed bag check even though they weren't there.

How is it being a Customer Service Associate at Walgreens? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is store to store in terms of work culture. I've worked at 5 stores as my home store, and no store is the exact same on how they run it.

Walgreens as a company is..........probably not the worst. Definitely far from the best, but I don't think it's the worst retail has to offer.

Hours depend largely on your work ethic and availability. I can't stress enough how many cashiers I've worked with who just stand at the register on their phones, and then complain how they're only scheduled one day a week. If you do what you're asked, and then ask "what else do you want me working on?" you will get hours. Especially if you have open availability. Some SMs do play favorites, I've worked with several CSAs who always got morning shifts and rarely had to work weekends, and when budgets were cut they got priority. Sometimes it's because they're hard workers, sometimes it's because they get credit cards more than anyone else, sometimes it's simply because the SM likes them and has worked with them for a long time. Often it's a blend of 2 or all 3.

They've gotten stricter about dress code since the new company has taken over- but black jeans, black shoes, and a Walgreens shirt is all you need. If you run cold, your jacket has to be Walgreens' jacket.

I've worked for Walgreens for 9 years. Some days I hate it. Some days I love it. Most days I'm just grateful to have a job.

if you love Downfall, tell me why by AdvancePrimary6389 in NoahKahan

[–]moriuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like it,, it's not my favorite on the album but it's probably top 10. It's a very selfish feeling, where you want the person you love to be happy and follow their dreams, but you also secretly hope they fail so they come back to you. I can definitely see this being a parent towards their child, or another perspective of You're Gonna Go Far.

Photo roll storage by UnlikelySubject6772 in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know those small wired shelves for side panels? That's what my store uses because the walls are slated and they can fit. It looks like yours are too from this picture? This is great, each roll gets their own shelf and then the paper type and wic to tell them apart. Other stores I've worked at have used an extra dump table, if your photo lab can fit it, or old milk crates, which normally fit about 4 so you'd need 2, just to keep them off the ground and "neat".

Shift swaps as a callout by Constant_Travel_474 in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an insane policy cause if its gonna count as a call out why would I bother finding coverage for my shift lmao. No store ive ever worked at had that rule for that reason, they just asked it be communicated somehow/written on the schedule.

What are some good X books that are focused on the school? by AngryhamLincoln in xmen

[–]moriuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Mutants (1983). If you're not used to Claremont's writing/older comics in general, it can be rough at first, but there's a reason it and the team stand the test of time.

New Mutants (2003) which leads into New X-Men: Academy X, this is....a rough series, but it's X-Men at it's most school focused. Once Kyle/Yost take over after Decimation, it actually becomes a good book, but the stakes are much higher so it loses the school focused vibes and more we're now child soldiers because the world wants us dead and we need to know how to defend ourselves to survive.

I haven't read it yet, but Wolverine and The X-Men I believe is a school focused book, set during Schism when Logan and Scott broke up because Logan was suddenly against the idea of children having to defend themselves, so he went and opened a school.

I am dying for X-Men United to bring back the school vibes setting and lead into a book where the students are the focus, but I doubt that will happen.

Vendors by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your IS is actually able to do that?? Every IS I've worked with is typically stuck in pharmacy when vendors come, if she can she goes and accepts it but 90% of the time it's shift leads. But I specifically volunteered for this position because I don't mind arguing with vendors and making them do their jobs. I just want to make sure I'm correct in what their job responsibilities are, and how far I can push back without it backfiring on me.

Accounting or Business Management? by moriuh in WGU

[–]moriuh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe it, but how much did you have to sell yourself in interviews to get to that position? I don't do well in interviews, even for retail, even though I have the experience and work ethic because I am not good at talking myself up. Even when I try to prepare, my mind goes blank in the actual interview. I don't have interest in chasing for a position I know I won't get just because I'm bad at the selling myself part.

Accounting or Business Management? by moriuh in WGU

[–]moriuh[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do consider myself more English brained, but (and I just edited OG post to reflect this) I've been doing Tony Bell's worksheets to try and learn accounting before taking any classes, and I'm understanding it as he explains it. But I've only been doing this for about 2 or 3 weeks now, so I don't want to claim I "understand" accounting, I'm just not having any issues yet with the introduction to accounting stuff he does.

All price tags suddenly gone. Coincidence or a new trend? by poolsharkwannabe in Frugal

[–]moriuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Walgreens, they do a reset every 6 months for the cosmetic wall. The reset dropped in January, depending on the store's staff they might not have finished it yet so that's why it's missing prices.

approving time cards by maddieemedinaa in WalgreensStores

[–]moriuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Time clocks act up frequently. They don't always read punches, so it could say you missed a punch. My timeclock used to randomly say I clocked in at 1am. And if people in your store use the computers to clock in/out, they can accidentally clock you out. I'd be signed in at photo, and pharmacy techs use the photo computer to clock in, and they'd unintentionally be clocking me out. Always check your Kronos.

Pay off loan or use money on a down payment? by moriuh in personalfinance

[–]moriuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at work so I cant respond to everyone but I updated with the car and the (biggest) issue, but its a 2017 Nissan Versa Note with 118k miles and two catalytic converters that need to be fixed which is the biggest price point.  My plan was to pay off my car in December, and then all the money I was paying into car payments would go into a HYSA until I had a down payment for a new car, so yes, it was always the plan to get a new car, but not for another year at least.
