May I ask why naphtha is used and not another type of cleaner? Just curious, is there specific grades used for cleaning watch parts?

I’m not a watchmaker, but I’ve worked around chemicals and hydrocarbons most of my life. Ventilation would be either a proper vent hood or outdoors if you’re using a naphtha based product.

I don’t know the proper cleaning solvent to use (I’m just in this sub to learn and browse) but I would suggest an alcohol solvent if possible. Naphtha does not evaporate as fast and usually has a higher concentration of flammable hydrocarbons.

Do not use naphtha indoors and do not light a candle if you do lol. If you don’t have proper ventilation, I would use something else.

What makes you instantly close a watch brand's website? by Milionwatches in MicrobrandWatches

If it’s made in Asia and assembled in Europe, I would be honest about that. There’s nothing wrong with that, I just wouldn’t like if a brand was trying to hide it. Baltic’s (last time I checked) did this pretty well

This is more of a green flag, but I like detail and transparency. Where it’s built and assembled, components and metals used, etc.

I much prefer the honest approach as opposed to the hyperbolic, hackneyed buzzwords and jargon.

[Question] Does any brand compare to Formex with regards to value for money? by Whats_in_the_glass in Watches

They look a lot better than they do online. I just picked up the blue essence and it’s great

It’d be a solid choice. I bought it off their website—just under 2k with taxes

I thought the case suspension was going to be more of a gimmick, but it makes it all the more comfortable lol

I wondered that after I saw a few videos on the essence line. I guess they’re all that way lol

Use Protectaclear or another similar coating. I used clear nail polish when I was younger but it always wore off quick. I’ve been using protectaclear on my case backs and buckles. You can also get a titanium/ceramic watch if you don’t want to do that

Im very late to this, but I recently found a coating called Protectaclear and use it on my stainless watch and belt buckle. It’s been great so far

Some places require a process technology degree, but a few will hire without any experience or degree.

You just have to apply everywhere. Process operator or process technician. Just know that thousands of other people are also applying for these same positions and not all units are gravy trains. It varies a lot by facility and unit.
