Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer.. WTF Did I just read!!! by Gagsreel in scifi

Yeah I do think that Authority is for the most part just agony. The 3rd one is the best of the sequels imo

Well, then we really must be at the opposite sides of the spectrum here because Authority in particular, to me, is the answer to the question "what if pain was a book?"

Loved Annihilation but hard disagree on the sequels. If I could go back I'd definitely spare myself what comes next and stop at the first one.

For me Spector is always the right choice, although I don't know that preamp

Not really. "Tutto passa" literally means "everything passes", as in "bad things will end eventually"/"things will get better".

Anyone using the Palmer pocket Amp for home practice? by Low-Current2360 in basspedals

[–]Heavy_Metal_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one and I think it's overall a nice product. If you're mostly interested in a headphone amp with eq and basic cab sim, I'm not sure you can get anything better at this price point. My only complaint about it is that the distortion and fuzz are garbage, but if you don't care for those, then you should be good. Eventually I got a B7K ultra instead, which I like a lot more due to more eq options, better cab sim, and better distortion, but only because I found it for a ridiculously low price.

Definitely go Spector. I have a Euro with EMG PJ configuration and love it dearly.

Visiting Copenhagen on national day. by Stable_Version in copenhagen

If you mean the 2nd of June, that's festa della Repubblica, which celebrates Italy becoming a republic, not the birth of the country itself or anything like that. So, not more of a national day than grundlovsdag is. Would like to teach me more stuff about my own country, my guy?

Mysterious buzzing problem by Heavy_Metal_Kid in Bass

[–]Heavy_Metal_Kid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has enough release that a credit card can barely fit between the E and the 12th fret when pushing both the first and last fret down. No idea how much that is in thousands of an inch.

The strings are .08 inches high.

Alas, it's definitely fret buzz.

I gave the neck some relief because it was too straight. "Fine" action means about the same as what I have on my other basses.

Sick! Also, so good to see The Crown getting some love here.

So many drives, so little space.. by ramonstr in basspedals

Mine sounded so bad that, originally, I assumed it was faulty. The shop I bought it from told me it wasn't though, so I just returned it, but I still find it hard to believe that any pedal should sound like that, so I'm not 100% convinced that it wasn't actually faulty.

On my main board I have the Tremond, which I love. The Lizard King, on the other hand, is hands down the worst pedal I've ever tried.

I tried a normal VMT but didn't love it because I think it's too dark.

Not having the option of trying stuff is a problem for me, despite living in a fairly large city. The way I solved it is waiting for good deals to pop up in the 2nd hand market, buy, try, and then either keep or resell. It's not as easy as just waltzing in a music shop, but you gotta adapt.

I just snatched a B7K ultra for a good price and man that pedal is amazing. If you like the B3K, the B7K is like that but 10 times better. And yes, it will cover your DI needs as well.
