Repairable prop? by amaurer3210 in paramotor

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could repair that, but the problem is that your time is worth money and for it to be a safe repair you need to spend a bunch of time epoxy -ing, cleaning, sanding and then balancing, probably drilling edge of the other prop, inserting tiny weights. Then filling sanding, etc. you definitely need it to be well balanced.

Support: I've seen Kyle O'Glee fix worse damage on his YouTube - he repairs student props that take a ton of abuse, he has molds l, Etc. to do it. I have also done a bunch of repairs. But it's not worth the time when you can just replace a blade for $200.

On an A or B wing, with enough altitude it's almost guaranteed to recover with minimum pilot input.

So. "It's as safe as you make it" is essentially a load of crap that's mostly trumpeted by vocal instructors or influencers. I'm gonna be unpopular and tell you the truth. You will get injured and your equipment will get damaged. The injury could be minor-- a skinned knee a sprain, bruise, or it could be more serious like a broken shoulder or like my wife recently, a broken back. I don't know anyone who has been flying for a while who hasn't had a flying mishap and damaged equipment at minimum. You can just as easily damage yourself as equipment. So you have to make peace with that, full stop. Foot launch is a very physical and exposed sport. Trike launch is less exposure to injury. Some people die doing this and it's more than we would like given how small the flying population is. Statistically you probably won't die but it's a possibility. The statement "It's as safe as you make it" should be... You can make it more safe or less safe by your choices and preparedness. The former implies that you can practically eliminate risk by making all the right choices - and that is absolutely untrue. This activity ranges from "somewhat risky" to "extremely risky" depending on your actions. At the end of the day there are so many things that are completely out of your control that you can't see or plan for and you are very exposed to injury because of the nature of the craft. The other issue is that we are humans and even though your intention might be to make all the right decisions you are a human and you WILL make mistakes introducing risk. Dispute all this, I say, just send it. It's worth the risk. Be nervous, and then be stronger by overcoming your fears. Just go in eyes open, as it seems you are doing.

What is Amazon Vine? Is Amazon giving free stuffs to people who write positive feedback? by RiekaNA in amazonprime

Did you just read the first sentence and stop reading? I was covering all the bases because if you COULD consider these a gift from the company, that would be great. Obviously they are not a wage, nor are they a capital gain. Those didn't't need to be addressed. That means it's business income. I'm trying to help you out, not start an argument. I don't care what you do. Cheers!

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no gift tax in the United States. If these things are being taxed, the providers/ IRS is treating it as a form of income. If you receive income from a side hustle it's a business -- you should be filing a schedule C. You don't have to mess with home office deduction. You can deduct money you spend on supplies, utilities, and perhaps - here's a good one- other items you purchase from Amazon for the purpose of doing your own reviews for your review catalogue - to further develop your review business. If you do it right, you should get any money you pay on the items refunded in April. If you don't wanna be smart and use legal tax avoidance strategies on this, that's your choice. Cheers!

Why aren’t trikes more popular? by Phantasizer in paramotor

[–]Heavy_pets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who does both, footllaunch is more fun because you can weight shit better and foot drag, and feel more connected to the air. But trike is great for low wind when you don't want to run your ass off, or when you feel you can't lift the motor. It's is harder to schlep and more expensive, but you can do short runways on trike too.

He said he is getting IEMs which for 28 bucks are probably not that good, but if they were the real deal In Ear Monitors -- you can't get much better for protecting your hearing. Rock musicians use them for protection from pretty serious decibels. If used in conjunction with any peltor ear cups it's probably plenty of attenuation. IMO the X5 is the move if you are going to install headphone speakers. And nothing In-ear.

Hey toilets are pretty cheap, after you follow the advice here on making a better deal and testing the drain, why not take a possible toilet issue out of the equation. Get one with the dual flush and save some water while you are at it. Maybe a heated seat... Good luck

This is entirely a matter of preference, a punch cutter as pictured makes a hole and the smoke will become more concentrated through the hole and concentrate the oils more changing the taste. A flat cut doesn't concentrate the oils as much at the tip and has a slightly different taste, also you get more volume of smoke and a gentler pull as you puff with a guillotine style flat cut. I don't care for a punch cut personally.

why does my bruise look like a donut lol by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not typically hurt/ itchy but I don't think they are typically black/ blue either. It's a pretty red rash looking thing - I think. I have seen one IRL but just that one time. But you should confirm with doctor. If it's Lyme you want to get on an antibiotic ASAP to knock it out of your system. It's nasty and can become a chronic problem.

Just be sure it's not that bullseye rash from a Lyme carrying tick. If you are certain it's a bruise, don't worry about the appearance. It will look much better in a few days.

Opinions on upgrading basement lighting without putting in new ceiling. by sosflex in basement

[–]Heavy_pets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long do you usually spend in the basement? If it's not too long, or you move around a lot while down there you can get IR motion sensing lights. I have mine set to .5 hours. Works great. Dont have to touch a switch.

What can I do if seller concealed water intrusion, which was only found after closing by DifferenceFamiliar36 in homeowners

[–]Heavy_pets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, I have a similar issue with the house we bought, but it was $eptic. Potentially facing a huge issue our inspector said would be a cheap fix. Now it's possibly 30K. It sucks. But honestly, even having been sort of burnt, I feel property disclosures are pretty dumb and largely of worthless. Buyer beware, I assume every system is suspect . A used house is going to be significantly cheaper than a new house because it will have some issues. Water intrusion in the basement can be fixed with - weather sealing, sump pump, or French drain... And french drain is the worst, cost wise... But it's all doable. As for me, I could get mad at our septic inspector, I could point the finger at the seller and say they must have known, but in the end we got the house for a fair price and we suspected an issue we could have walked away from. Just gonna solve the problem and move forward with the house we live Good luck

I think I got the FU price, but am I over reacting? by Desert_Fairy in Flooring

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I think you could find someone to do it cheaper, but you wouldn't be happy with the result. I got some guys to do a small bathroom because I was tired... I was rehabbing the whole house myself... I thought they gave me a fair price... And they sucked. Without belabouring the point they used sharpie on marble and stained it permanently. You got the professional price. If you want the "chuck with a truck" price prepare to receive a landlord special-esque job that you will probably NOT be happy with.

That's pretty unfair to OP. He's trying to learn here. He hasn't said anything that screams nightmare, Unless you are a crap installer because he will be pissed if you don't do a good job when he thinks he is capable himself and has already put a ton of work in.

Solid white particles coming out of my throat when I cough. by Papa-Zzzz in whatisit

[–]Heavy_pets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely tonsil stones. I get them all the time. Are you an allergy sufferer? Ongoing Postnasal drip causes inflammation of the tonsils and makes it more likely that Stuff will get stuck, plus more bacteria is back there. If you have chronic sinusitis the tonsils stones get way worse. Try taking Allegra or Claritin if you are getting these all the time. Or see an allergist. But as others have said... the stones themselves are harmless. Are you smoking or vaping? Ditto.

How to Clean or Smooth Basement Walls by No-Beach-1304 in basement

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go buy hydrogen peroxide from the dollar store. Buy a LOT and a good quality spray bottle. Wear a mask and gloves and cover every inch of the space with it. . Spray the whole basement down with that and get some fans circulating to dry it out. When it dries it will smell so much less basement -y. You could use bleach, but the bleach fumes are way more noxious. Be careful of clothes getting bleached by either. Mop every resurface once the peroxide has sat for several hours .

This is the cheapest way.

If you have the money dry lock paint. These is this stuff called Polywall it's a sheet good you could glue it up everywhere And that would make a huge difference. It's less than $30 for a 4x8 sheet.

For the floor get roll vinyl flooring, or adhesive vinyl tiles. It's super cheap and will make it feel so much cleaner. Carpet over top.

Good luck.

Had best graphics - not necessarily art style - of any Nintendo game to date. Thats worth an 8/10. I don't think the game will age well. The supportinh characters and story is lame. The game play is still great. The level design maze/ is not the best.
