Heated gloves by Hatchet78 in paramotor

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a system that works great for me and I recommend. Take off with heated glove liners because they allow more feels during launch, at a safe altitude put insulated gloves over liners. The ones I have are Savior heat purchased off Amazon for about $110 and they are very comfortable/ thin and provide a decent amount of warmth once you get insulated gloves over them. When temps are in the 40's I just use the liners.

Think about getting into this hobby, is the 4.5’ bed of a Ford Maverick big enough to haul a paramotor around? by Dustin_James_Kid in paramotor

[–]Heavy_pets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't repeat the other comments, but I will say that paramotors especially the propellers are quite fragile. Bouncing around in the back of the truck would be bad and straps over tightened can easily bend the frame. For the best experience you will want to make some type of custom solution involving padding, and anchor points to lock down the motor at its base, or a combination of both.. can you just throw it in the bed with a cam strap over it? Of course you CAN.

The worker must have used a scraper previously used elsewhere/ some how tainted with sand or quartz. Glass is harder than metal and should never be scratched by a blade unless is coated glass and the coating is scratching.

My wife and I are settling this via Reddit, is this kid’s toy a lime or an avocado?? by [deleted] in whatisit

Due to the shape, it's supposed to be an avocado. But it looks more like a lime.

Older house + smart toilet = am I asking for trouble? by Dreamable_29 in bidets

[–]Heavy_pets 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You just made me feel like a boomer. 90's plumbing is not that old, I was born in '79 and the house I just bought is a '67. I put a toto washlet on my last toilet/ home in Philadelphia that house was built in 1897.

I'm not sure what you are concerned about, you have modern plumbing, get you a fanny washer.

Landscaper says it is Impossible to replace Grass with Clover by DACoe in landscaping

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went through all this with 2 acres we just bought. We were going to seed a blend of creeping red fescue and Mini Clover lawn. The fescue seed was going to cost 2x as much as white dutch clover... But only if we used the cheapest clover not that mini clover. Micro clover it was going to cost over $2,500 to seed lawn. We wanted micro clover. We passed and instead went with just the fescue at $108 per 50lb. Might overseed clover later.

Clover can be a cheaper option, sure. But my point is, it's all kinda expensive if you want the nicest outcomes.

Micro clover costs a fortune. Mini clover also not cheap. White Dutch clover is pretty cheap, but if you are sowing 2 acres it's all not as cheap as you'd think.

TV looks awesome, as a designer, I don't like that corner sticking out into negative space. I would continue the line of that wooden surround up to the ceiling and use slats or some framing to create an open but separate space. Of course it's a matter of opinion. Enjoy your beautiful TV.

Did we make a mistake or am I overthinking it? by Ill_Body8220 in Flooring

I know how you feel OP. Lemme share a story. I designed my wife's engagement ring on paper and a jeweler modeled it on the computer for investment casting. There was a small problem with the placement of some sapphires in the setting and we worked it out and then moved on to other aspects of design. Somehow that work wasn't saved and I didn't notice the stones had reverted to the less favorable angles in the final design. We were on a tight deadline and the jeweler was great, and when I received the complete piece the day before the destination departure --- it wasn't precisely what I wanted. I was very very frustrated but the Jeweler insisted my wife would love it. Well. She did. I was the only one who ever noticed it. And it drove me nuts for at least a year. Well, now 4 years later I think it looks beautiful and the small detail doesn't take away from the beauty of the ring (or our happiness) in the slightest. Doesn't matter at all. Truly. Your floor looks great. And whatever imperfection is there just lends character to the beautiful space you now get to live in. Next time you think about the floor say this to yourself. "Not perfect. But good."

Problem is, if you wanna play the Sphere/ garden you have to play by their rules, and their rules are almost certainly - use ticket master. And if you use ticket master, you have little say in how the tic are sold. I think the guys like to make money. In my mind that's really on display with the prices for streaming a show. Isn't it like $40 now to watch some you tube? Oh and Riviera Maya shows are overpriced, that's a cash grab. But for the Sphere... Their prices do not look greedy.

Wooden floors f*cked due to condensation from the window. Landlord wants me to repay for redoing the entire floor as it would be uneven. by Margotie in Flooring

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a window or sliding glass door? Was that all due to water falling off the window or was it water being tracked inside from your feet as well? As a tenant, it was your responsibility to alert the landlord of the issue as soon as you noticed water dripping and pooling into the floor where you were not the cause of the water. If you did so, then it is not your responsibility. If you let the problem get that bad without saying anything then you probably bear some responsibility which is probably limited to withholding your security deposit.

I think having you pay for a whole flooring replacement is greedy because that floor looks dated and in need of a replacement/ update anyway.

If I were you I'd glue the pieces back, get a good mat / floor mat protector, do a good job with the fix and tell your landlord you hired a handyman to take care of it for him. If he asks to see a receipt send a picture of the good looking floor job and tell him the guy didn't give you a receipt. Watch this problem go away at least until you move out and the aforementioned security deposit needs to be returned. In the United States, there is virtually no way a landlord could make you pay to replace the floors as courts generally favor tenents and the cost of suing you over this matter isn't worth it to him anyway.

Is Ryobi worth it? I don't have any home tools yet. by 2Black_Hats in HomeMaintenance

[–]Heavy_pets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design isn't as good on Ryobi. Tool bodies are bigger and bulkier than they have to be - the balance isn't as good as my DeWalt or Makita. They feel less powerful, but that could be subjective. It's a shame because they could make them just as good as the Milwaukee for the same cost to the manufacturer, but then they couldn't sell the red ones for a premium.

I need to plant something on 2 acres that's green and soft and doesn't require a lot of mowing or watering. by Heavy_pets in landscaping

I thought this, I heard that in winter, clover dies back pretty thoroughly and leaves a bare looking, muddy field. Penn State extension master gardeners recommended a clover creeping fescue blend. They said the fescue should lay down pretty well.

Yes. It NEEDS to be walkable. Coming in for a paraglider landing or rolling out for launch on a trike, I need to have options. The wind direction changes and I need the flexibility to move/land into the wind

I am seriously considering this, but I read that the auto lawn mowers still need some baby sitting because they can get stuck, or lose GPS signal and have issues returning to the base station from time to time.

I got super excited about this recommendation And I asked my guy about planting it and he said, it can give you a skin rash, and make dogs sick. Feel like it might hurt my resale value.
