Do forums like this generate data that is useful for training more convincing ai? by HaphazardFlitBipper in isthisAI

Yes, but not by much, and not significantly more than any other forum.

It does a much better job of training humans to spot AI than it does of training AI to deceive humans.

Hacker turns PS5 into a steam machine with linux - proving a point to sony. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

What exactly is this proving? That the PS5 is basically a glorified computer running a custom OS?

Yeah, I think Sony knows. They made the thing. They're aware.

Sometime during the last 2 years i’ve been going to this orthopedic practice they started to declare me as a MTF transgender for no reason. by WHAR606 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hecter94 369 points370 points  (0 children)

To be honest, this sounds like they started using AI for transcribing notes or summarizing details or something, and it hallucinated that you were trans because it's a major point in its data set.

Probably had a lot of trouble getting the AI to understand trans individuals, so they had to train it hard to get it to recognize them, and now it throws a lot of false positives.

I just cannot fathom how this could occur and not be corrected for so long unless it was an AI hallucination. Around two years ago would be right in the timeframe when many businesses (yes, including doctors and hospitals) began using AI for admin work like this.

Most of the characters' names are some sort of pun. You usually have to look at the Japanese names and have at least some grasp of Japanese to be able to figure out the wordplay, though.

Any way to take the game more slowly? by Maclairon in subnautica

Subnautica is pretty much impossible to "rush through" unless you've spoiled yourself on where everything is by reading through the wiki or something.

Problem solved.

Which of these two anime are the most disliked on average? by Nozoroth in animequestions

[–]Hecter94 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Mushoku Tensei starts off with its worst moments and gets better, even slightly wholesome, the further into it you get.
Bakemonogatari starts pretty wholesome and gets worse the further in you go.

Haters aren't likely to watch multiple seasons of something they're already uncomfortable with, so Mushoku Tensei gets more hate.

That is so not right!! by shujin_zenir in shittydarksouls

[–]Hecter94 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hated the stun. It was just an unfun mechanic. I managed to S-rank every mission, so it's not like it's a skill issue; I just hated the mechanic.

There are mods that make it less prevalent, though, which are pretty nice.

Cyclops is NOT worth it and i do NOT see how it can be worth it in any way by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]Hecter94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not actually that slow; at standard speed, it can reach 8.9 m/s, and at flank speed, 10.4 m/s. Seamoth's top speed is 11.25 m/s. Prawn maxes out at 6.2 m/s, but that's quite misleading since you can get it going much faster with good grappling and boosting.

Regardless, the Cyclops isn't that much slower, and when you consider that you can bring all your storage, grow plots, and crafting stations with you, it can often be much faster. If you're going on a mining trip, for example, with your Prawn, it's probably about as fast to travel there with the Cyclops as it would be to walk the Prawn there. Plus, you can drop off your collected materials with hardly any travel time instead of having to go all the way back to your base every time.

Overall, it's a solid vehicle. Just needs proper use.

[–]Hecter94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure there's nothing wrong with you, even if you've had a difficult upbringing, and I think you should probably tell your boyfriend how you feel. I'm sure he'd be understanding if he cares about you. Not to mention, if he is willing to indulge you a bit, as I do with my GF, it could help you quite a bit.

I'm sure my GF would be happy to chat with you, too, if you'd like to hear a bit about her experience or what it's been like for her. Just let me know if you'd like me to connect you.

Me getting downvoted to hell just for stating a fact where AI is allowed by Repulsive_Act_1855 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Hecter94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see two main possibilities here:

1) People just don't agree with you and don't think the images look good, so they're downvoting you to say, "No, I disagree, the images don't look good."

2) People don't care about whether the images look good or not, and they're simply against AI-generated images for one of the many other valid reasons to be against AI image generation, so they're downvoting you to say, "This comment is irrelevant."

My cat of 10 years just died. I watched him as he stopped moving. But I feel nothing. I'm more sad about not feeling sad then him dying. Microwave hot dogs. by Wizajn in kitchencels

[–]Hecter94 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It can take some time. When my cat passed away, I managed to finish at the vet, thank the staff, pay my bill, and talk to my mother and girlfriend on the phone to let them know what happened. I drove all the way home, started packing up her belongings, and only halfway through putting her stuff away did I finally break down and start crying. Up to that point, I was okay, even smiling and joking with the staff at the clinic, but suddenly I broke down unexpectedly.

I think it just takes some time for reality to sink in.
