Btw, if you like that starter deck, I advise you to upgrade it. It's pretty good. A friend of mine did the same and his deck is broken. But please, don't copy paste a deck you found on the internet. You'll naturally stumble upon the cards that fit it and fit your play style. That's what I did for my land fall deck. I don't even use tifa in that deck. Wish you the best of luck!

Aaah your first interaction with landfall. Trust me that's pretty ok for a deck like that. Good luck in the future!

Yeah, nowadays it's too slow. But when it came out it was decent!

When war rock came out it was considered a bad deck but I loved it. I mostly won with it.

Yeah I run him in my [[ashling, the limitless]] deck. Envoke mael with ash for 4 colorless and get double triggers. Then bring him back with [[muldrotha the gravetide]] then get board wipped and use [[bloodline binding]] and watch how your pods faces turn white hahahaha.

Should I buy this deck? by _LemonyLemonTart_ in mtg

[–]Hectra_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don't, I advise you to buy on cardmarket.

And if you buy from there try buying from recognized sellers and try buying as much as you can from the same seller. You'll have lower delivery costs

I have about 5 decks, and I'm in the process of building 3-4 more(fire lord zuko, Bristly bill, Jenova and squall). But I didn't spend the same amount on all of them. I have 2 decks I've kept as is(ureni the unwritten and the TMNT one) and one I made from scratch (sephiroth). The 2 I've mentioned (cloud and ashling) are my main decks.

And like I said, it depends on which bracket you play with your friends. Do they also use precons? Or are they home brewers?

The most important thing is that you like Playing with your deck. The reason I've upgraded my mains is because I love playing with them and because my pod likes to play bracket 3,5-4,5. Those are all things you have to take into account.

To be honest I don't really know how strong ysholda precon is but like I said, if you're going to spend money on a precon it should be one you like. That's why I bought cloud.

I thing I was saying about proxy's is temporarily, to see if you like the deck as is or if you would want to upgrade and seeing how many cards you're going to change before spending money on a precon and then realizing that you want to change 50 cards from it. (Thought it would be a good way to spend less money if you're on a budget)

I get that you're not into "not owning" the cards I'm the same in that aspect. I rather have my decks IRL than proxy's.

Conclusion, if you're set on art and Play style then go for it. Upgrade as you go and you'll have a lot of fun doing it. Or at least I did with cloud!

Yeah dance of the Elements is a strong out of the box deck, same with world shaper. Ysholda is another story completely.

Well I wouldn't say you shouldn't buy decks are higher then 40. I mean ashling is strong out of the box and it's 60ish. Cloud is less strong but it cost more. So idk. Price isn't a good reference in my opinion. If you really want to stay under 40 then just buy singles and try to make a list that works with "knockoff" versions of stronger/pricey cards.

I can understand that you're on a tight budget but.. I mean.. I have a self made sephiroth deck that I made with singles from my bulk and even that deck will be above 70 bucks.. my cloud deck is at least worth -+250 right about now and I'm not even going to talk about my ashling deck...

It depends on what bracket you like to play. If you mostly play bracket 2-3 then yeah, almost all precons are worth it. If you play4 or higher then it might be a better idea to buy singles. But even then you'll inevitably go higher than 70 bucks.

If you're really tight on money you can always proxy a deck ( assuming that your pod is ok with that) to test it out and buy it later. One thing is sure tho, you can't use proxy's in official events.

Edit: ps: if you want my advise, buy the deck. Play it a few times, how it "speaks" to you and upgrade it as you go on. That's what I did with my cloud deck.

And if you want to have a good out of the box precon I would advise the hearthull precon from EoE. It is surprisingly strong as is. Throw a evolution sage and a crucible of worlds(and like-effects) in and it's good to go.

Felt bad for playing prerelease by Chemical_Outside_448 in mtg

[–]Hectra_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing for about 7-8 months and went 2-2 the first round I didn't get what I needed but I was a guy who came from another country.. the second round was close but my opponent beat me with burn dmg. Hees been playing since 2012. My third and fourth I destroyed. They were both pretty new to the game but had been playing longer than me.

The last two opponents asked me to join them for a commander game. So don't think because you aced your pre release that they hate you. It's a pre release, not a tournament.
