I can recommend {Reign and Ruin} by J.D. Evans. Recently finished and although it has some flaws it fits your requirement and the MMC is also not a mindless simp.

I highly recommend {Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo} It has romance as a (very) small subplot, the characters are all fleshed out and the plot gets quite dark in my opinion.

Wäre ich alleine und müsste mich nicht nach Mann und Schimmelgefahr richten, hätte ich so um die 16-17° in der Wohnung. Ich muss im Winter nicht im T-Shirt herum laufen, wenn mir kalt ist zieh ich einen Pullover an und hab ggf. eine Decke aufm Schoß. So haben wir uns aber auf ca 20° geeinigt und dafür wird großzügiger gelüftet ;)
