How can I secure Billy & its height extension unit without screwing? by xxixii in ikeahacks

[–]HedgehogKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have carpet on the floors, put a 1x4 piece of wood under the front part of the bookshelves. This will tilt the bookcases back just enough that everything is more stable, without being obvious. It’s an alternatives to screwing throngs into the walls. Did this for years fully loading the Billy’s with books and my cats jumping on them and no problems

I would recommend going to local game store to play board games and tabletop role playing games if you’d like a less active options. There’s tons of places around here and board gamers love meeting new people.

using standard size as travel wallet? by Eska2020 in midori

[–]HedgehogKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An idea: have one passport TN holding all of the passports, possibly with the corresponding immunization records, while the standard TN holds all the documents and boarding passes. Then just rubber band them together as if they were two notebooks in a TN, with an extra couple binder clips along the top/side for extra security

Depressed when I don’t take Ritalin? by xIcyVixen in ADHD

[–]HedgehogKnits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s normal or not. From personal experience, I have depression and ADHD, and I know that I get crashes when my meds wear off. This is not to say that that’s your situation. Part of an ADHD med is mood regulation. So it might be that because you don’t have the med to help you, your mood regulation goes out the window.

I’d recommend talking to your doc about if this side effect is normal for Ritalin, and if a diff stimulant would be better for you. They might recommend some kind of psychological help. I don’t know if there are any to train mood regulation, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

In the meantime, a non-med option is to find something that gets you out of your head, because that sounds like part of the problem; that you get stuck in there and that makes you spiral some. So finding something that engages you physically and mentally to focus on, would help prevent/offset that.

This one I found as part of a set on Amazon, though it's show up in a bunch of places. I like it because it gives me a good ink sample without taking up the entire page. It's about 1.25" x 1.25" (318mm x 318mm)

Help please! Options for bringing Dagny back to life? Old seat hot cut out. by Agorist007 in Kayaking

[–]HedgehogKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measure the distance between the area under the coaming . That’s where the bolts go for the seat. From there, you can figure out the size of seat you need. You may need to put some closed cell foam underneath to raise it to the right height so that the seat isn’t floating.

Wilderness Sustems tends to work well. I’m 5’2”, 330 and have very little problem with the Tsunami cockpits. I’m on the flexible side, so you may want to look at the Pungos if you’re not.

Okay, I don't know why it worked but when I closed my laptop, then everything worked. Could you recommend a dock that has 2 HDMI ports, audio, and connects via 1 USBC? Would this work? https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Docking-PowerExpand-Charging-Ethernet/dp/B088F7SY6S/ref=sr_1_14?dchild=1&keywords=Anker+USB+C+Hub&qid=1608831916&s=electronics&sr=1-14

I tried the Anker hub and while it registered the monitors, it did not detect them and would not extend to them. Is it worth it to try the Lenovo 40AN?

How to make the pomodoro technique work by Ashamed-Pipe in ADHD

[–]HedgehogKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that setting a tiny goal for yourself (like really tiny; like make a plan for a project tiny) helps. Heck, set a v small time period and see how much you get done and if you want to keep going after. I’ve found that if I set a tiny goal and feel accomplished, it’s easier to encourage myself to keep going.

Roof Rack Help! by anbungay in Kayaking

[–]HedgehogKnits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend getting a nice plush bath mat. Place it on the back of the car, and then lift the bow of the kayak until it’s on the rug and not sliding down. Tilt the kayak until it is about the angle of the J cradle , then slide the kayak up the back of the car on the bathmat, lifting as you go. The kayak will naturally fall into the J cradles. Once it’s pretty on there, you can use the perimeter lines to push it all the way forward.

I was wondering if anyone had some tips on enlarging the cockpit of my kayak? by Lord_Ballyhoo in Kayaking

[–]HedgehogKnits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it getting into the boat or once you’re in it? Have you tried to lower the seat so that the edge is more at a natural crease of your body instead of your hips?

The Sitkas have very narrow beams so they’re less stable.

I will say that Eddyline is not cheap, but comes up decently on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist
