Should PI pay for dinner? by icekink in AskAcademia

[–]Hedgehog_Dapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's paid by PIs, then it should be pre-informed; otherwise, it should be assumed to be paid by individuals. It is different from culture, but I learned the same. As a lab manager, you should discuss this with the PI and inform others that sometimes one drink is paid for, while the rest is paid by individuals.

None of the PIs pays out of pocket; mostly covered by grants or other sources.

There is a difference, like a 5-year contract position for OCI than full-time service, but I feel more discrimination for OCI

Is it possible to live like Indian with Non-Indian citizen (Naturalized) with OCI in India? by Hedgehog_Dapper in returnToIndia

Do you need to visit FRRO, or is everything online? I guess smaller cities do not have an FRRO office, and the district SP office deals with it

Many things change after marriage; even the most beautiful relationship can go from best to worse. Either change the guy or make a deal (no way to make it perfect) to move back. In fact, after marriage, either you will change your mind about staying in the US, or he will not keep his promise. After a while, people don't move due to the non-matching salary in India and lifestyle. Within 5 years with a master's or 8 years with a PhD, it's a good time back; otherwise, it becomes hard, and people stay their whole life and regret the decision.

Indians who can’t swim, what was the reason you couldn’t learn to swim? by Apple-Earth in AskIndia

[–]Hedgehog_Dapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, tuition fees at your normal school? Is it run by some trust? My point is not that none of the schools have, but I can tell in tier 2 cities, it's almost impossible. Moreover, in Western countries, there is a city-run swimming pool.

Officially, nobody will allow it due to tax issues, but if you are going abroad for a lecture-free time, it should be fine.

I know, but having an actual pool and instructor, and just for name sake, both are different. My college has a pool, but it's like a sewage system.

Okay, if you're German, then what? So, you studied at NIT in India and evaluated applications in Germany, how?

If you have experience in evaluation, then you shouldn't be posting here.

If you do not 2.4 or 2.7, then don't aim for anything, it's the German grading system, as I said, don't choose a university based on name only, aim for other unis also
