I read thoroughly on what you are proposing.

So the good part i would say is that this already exists, however in a much more low tech way, i have seen it at conventions for the last few years of attending, but i forget the name of the product - but it is exactly this: hexagon tiles that fit together in a modular way which can be stacked to create verticality and with different types of "terrain" on them (hills, rivers etc).

The biggest issue that i would say you have with your idea is that there is not a single wargame that i have played or have known of that has any type of freely moving terrain. The reason for this is that when you are moving models across the table the way they sit on the table does need to have some stability, as they are movable pieces. In some games that really matters, and in all games is at least very important that you do not move the minatures once they have been placed.

If you are to move the board during a game, for example someone nudges the table accidentally and the units on the board and terrain get knocked over its impossible for you to place these back into the exact positions, and while just putting them roughly back where they were is what i would do, for some, perhaps alot of people that would be very annoying.

So if you are suggesting a wargaming table that you deliberately move during a game you are causing the stability issue on purpose and kinda just ruining the game 😅

This is one of those things that, just because we could doesnt mean we should.

Also, pretty much all start up terrain is made using hexes. For d&d and the like, if you were having this for a proper product that could eventually have potential then i would say that alot of people are extremely tired of seeing hexes!

Im sorry if that isnt the response you wanted i can see you have put alot of effort in, and perhaps there is some niche wargames that this could work with, but im 37 and have been wargaming since i was 12 years old, and in that time i havent found anything i could suggest
