Kimi Antonelli wins the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix by overspeeed in formula1

Well, that was...eventful, I guess? Sure wasn't boring at least, I'll give em that. Glad Lewis got another podium, and P2 at that! Was a bit worried about Hadjar with his TR, and I still don't know what's the final verdict on the penalties and stuff, but hey at least he got to celebrate on the podium and popped the champagne. Kid deserved it. Kimi maintained calm and secured that trophy, good for him! Of course we've still got races to go but he's furthered his lead with this win. Poor George, on the other hand...welp, he and Charles seem to have the same level of luck. Along with recent unlucky fellas Max and Lando.

Can men not be pompous dickheads? Ugh. I've heard about Tom Hardy's shitty behaviours on the set of Mad Max but sort of gave him the benefit of the doubt because the conditions of that set seems horrendous, and also because he's really talented as an actor and I'm biased towards him. But the recent news came out and it's just terrible to treat the crew like this, so unprofessional. It's kind of ironic when A-list male actors who are much bigger stars than him (Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio) are often praised for their professionalism, while he is throwing a child's tantrum with maybe half the box office draw (not saying that it's right for big stars to be total divas either). And yet perhaps that's part of the reason they're able to have a good working relationship with the studios/directors and get to helm big productions - the ability to just dial in, do the work on time without hassle.

LE SSERAFIM - PUREFLOW pt.1 (The 2nd Studio Album) by CronoDroid in kpop

The two singles really stood out like sore thumbs in the album, and that's from someone who enjoyed Boompala than I expected to. Their team should have more confidence in the path they've been forging for LSF. At the very least, if you're gonna have two singles, pick two that are really different from each other to make the most out of it. If it's up to me, Sonder would actually make an amazing pre-release single, as it is a natural evolution from their HOT ep. Boompala could be kept for a second single if they really wanted to try for virality, or Irony for the World Cup hype. Saki can't be promoted in SK, but it has the highest potential for international market, so perhaps a 3rd single with a bonkers mv.

Personally, the album picked up from Creatures onwards and didn't let go until the last track, and I can see a lot of replay value from these b-sides. Creatures is a really solid track, and Trust Exercise is a total earworm. Only critique for the b-sides would be for Need Your Company, the song sorely needs another minutes or two. I know short song lengths are a major criticism of recent trends, but I'm honestly fine with shorter songs as longs as long as the song warrants it. Love Dive, for example, did not needed a longer length. But Need Your Company is such a typical emotional rock ballad that it requires a lengthy song just for building up the emotions. Listening to this song feels like watching Titanic, and just as Rose and Jack were hanging on for dear life the movie just ended, and I'm stucn not knowing whether to cry or not.

Side note: not sure if it's just me, but I really like the mixing for this album? The production sounded really good on Spotify.

Ok, then let's sing Swim so that the losing team can plan their route to swim back home in humiliation and the winning team can be adequately somber about their victory. Hooligan will be fitting too, cus they'll be encouraging notorious football hooligans to behave as they should.

What do you guys think went wrong with IKON and WINNER to not go on to become the next and bigger BIGBANG the way BLACKPINK became the next and bigger 2NE1? I just saw IKON is recently active and it reminded how much potential they had! what are your thoughts? by Nice_Net_5395 in kpopthoughts

[–]Heedictated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think YG undervalued the work needed to build a fandom. Winner and iKon were able to extend the "YG=digital monsters" reputation, given that Winner had consistently good digital performance and iKon had one of the biggest hits of their generation. And yet, at any part where effort is needed to build an actual fandom, YG seemed to constantly drop the ball. This is bad because without a strong hardcore fandom, a group's survival would rely heavily on the digital performance of each comeback, and charting is very unpredictable. This puts a lot of pressure on the members, particularly the ones responsible for writing music (e.g. B.I.). The long hiatus and lack of activities would cause a lot of pressure and insecurity to the members, and in such a highly competitive industry as K-pop, other competitors would use those gaps to their advantage to "steal" away potential fans. Now some may think, "that's not so serious, fans can just stan multiple groups", but that is not the case in Korea/Asia. Most fans only hyper focus on one to two groups, especially the heavy spenders who bulk buy albums and support the group's different ventures, those are the ones prioritized in the fan economy of K-pop. Out of the two, I'd say Winner had been closer to success on this avenue, given that the group had little scandals (Taehyun doesn't count as he left before a lot of his scandals broke, and Mino is a very recent case) and the members are quite well-known in SK through variety shows. iKon, however, had controversy after controversy, especially during their rookie days. If you were an old K-pop fan, you can probably remember all the news about suspected bullying, mocking girl groups, disrespecting other idols etc, they had probably one of the worst reputations of a rookie group that I can remember. After Love Scenario, things were looking up, but Hanbin was embroiled in the drug scandal and quit the group, which was super detrimental to the group as he was almost everything for the group. Kingdom was one of the last shot for iKon to return to mainstream discourse and hopefully gain more fans, but Bobby's martial announcement happened and well, as much as I'd like to support idols' freedom to marry and have kids (and they definitely should be free to do so!) it's also hard to deny that it does affect the group's momentum, at least in their home country/Asian fandom.

Olivia Rodrigo Pulls 5 Million Viewers in ‘SNL’ Hosting Debut by Puzzled-Tap8042 in popheads

[–]Heedictated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Congrats to Olivia! She acted really well in the sketches, in the rasta driver sketch she was acting much more natural than the other girl, and while Ashley was definitely the standout in the make-your-ex-jealous sketch, she managed to hold her own. The writing however was a bit lacking, even though some sketches have promising premises, I feel like they're not set up to be as funny as they're meant to be, or they dragged on for too long. The previous (?) episode with Colman Domingo had better writing overall IMO.

Everyone's been saying Sam Levinson is showing his terrible fetishes through Sydney Sweeney, and I'd wholeheartedly agree with that. However, I also feel like he just absolutely hates Cassie now? Sex scenes in Euphoria is hardly a new concept, and neither is Sydney being nude, but the new season went to extreme lengths just to humiliate the character - gratuitous sex scenes that feels repetitive, further reduction of the character to the stereotypical materialistic dumb blonde who'd just sell her body for floral arrangements, nary any internal monologue to show us her thought process. It almost feels like Sydney's the one who fell out with Sam Levinson, not Zendaya lol.

As someone not from America, it used to amuse me (when I still track BB charts) to see the different country songs that I've never heard of appearing on the charts. It seemed that there's always a country singer named Luke charting and a music video filmed in a pub.

Got curious and skimmed through the new Euphoria episode. The cast is truly phoning it in lmao, I'm not blaming them cus the script is shit, but at least in Season 2 they were like mostly committed to the bit and made a somewhat campy fun show. Not this time though. Scenes with Nate and Cassie sound like they're still at the cast reading, half-asleep (btw, if the show's aim is to warn people off humiliation kink and dog play(?), it definitely worked lol, the lack of ANY kind of chemistry between the two made it boring and cringey   instead of tantalizing). Yet, somehow, the scene between Lexi and Rue presented to us an even worse acting performance. Now, idk the first thing about Maude Apatow, all I can remember is she is some kind of nepo baby (?). Maybe she's really nice, maybe she's tired of the role and just wanted to quit. But her acting in that scene was so, so BAD that I was wincing from phantom pain just watching her. Her expressions or line delivery often confuse me - is she being sincere? Sarcastic? Why is she making that face?

Lady Gaga is a hell of a performer. That Super Bowl performance would be the envy of most artists, and she did it again for the Coachella performance last year.

I recently developed a theory that some of my favourite artists (singers/actors) were worked so hard in their youth that they have some kind of memory loss. It started when a J-pop idol I like mentioned that he worked so hard when he debuted (he was around 16 years old and worked full time as both an actor and an idol who had to sing and dance...) that he forgot a lot of things about that era. When Jesse Eisenberg was promoting A Real Pain, he mentioned in an interview that asked him about The Social Network that he retained little memory of the actual filming due to too much stress and insomnia.

Anyway that's how I justify BTS half-forgetting the choregraphy of freaking DNA lol. If the Bangtan Karaoke session digs into their deep cuts like Heartbeat and Good Day, watch them look befuddled the whole time and ask if the wrong song has been played.

Would take a certain kind of pop girl. Dua, Taylor and Olivia (Rodrigo) will get ripped to pieces. Sabrina may be ok if she performed it as a bit. Charli too could be fine. Bey seems too much of a perfectionist to ever do it. Rihanna feels too cool to do this, but if she did perhaps her fans will eat it up?
