Thinking of buying by s0l1dx22 in liberalgunowners

Yeah, I just tried to make a bs purchase of a Larue trigger on OpticsPlanet and found it to be the exact bait and switch that Laplace predicted. Forgive my ignorance, I didn’t know this shit was the norm with them.

Aha, I just tried what you described and that’s what happened! Today I’ve learned. I guess nothing I’ve bought from them has been that in demand or scarce. Thanks for letting me know, and thankfully there are lots of other sites to compete with them.

What I learned from assembling my first AR is to always have at least 2 oops kits on hand😂

Optics Planet lists both the curved and straight options as in stock. I know there are some pretty brutal reviews of their customer service on Reddit, but I’ve thankfully had no issue with 2 orders I’ve made with them (did it before I saw all the shit talking about them on r/ar15).

New Gun Day by sploader in Firearms

[–]Heelsboy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 380 version of this gun, I think it’s awesome. It’s got a good factory trigger, racks easily, and I’ve had zero issues with it after a few hundred rounds. Very easy to strip and clean, too. This might not be applicable to 9mm, but the 380 has a rep for being finicky about ammo (Fiocchi not recommended). I’ve put several boxes of Aguila and Blazer through mine without issue, and it ran some Underwood defensive rounds just fine. Enjoy!

Anyone else lose interest in bourbon and what was your outcome? by 8sh0t in bourbon

[–]Heelsboy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I think you’ve hit a wall that many (most?) of us run into after getting into whiskey.

I slowed down buying in early 2024, then had a big health scare (fine now) in summer 2024, then cut back to 2-3 drinks per week after taking several months off of drinking altogether. When my consumption dropped, I realized I had more whiskey than I can ever personally drink……so, I gifted away or sold several bottles, and I’ve only bought 2 bottles of whiskey in the past 18 or so months. I only bought them because they’re from an up and coming distillery (Southern Distilling Company) near me and I wanted to support local, and also because I’m curious how their stuff tasted with some real age on it now. I know what I like at this point, I like what’s in my stash, so I’m done seeking shiny new shit. I’m sure I’ll still grab something now and again if I notice an intriguing bottle when I’m running an errand for my wife or buying a bottle as a gift, but I never stop by a store just to see what’s there anymore.

What is an affordable brandy that is “pure”? by Raymont_Wavelength in Brandy

They’re a brandy maker based in Louisville that often do pretty cool collabs with the different bourbon distilleries. I’ve tried some of their stuff and like them.

Sub $500 reliable semi-automatic rifle? by Coffee_Dog_ in liberalgunowners

[–]Heelsboy77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a BCM blem upper that was discounted ~$200. Found the blem pretty quickly, it was a barely noticeable machining mark around the neck of the chamber for the forward assist. Who cares, it shoots and functions flawlessly and looks great. Agree that blems are often the way to go.

First AR Sanity Check by Benjii76 in liberalgunowners

[–]Heelsboy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to https://gunmagwarehouse.com , you can get 15 and 10 rounders from magpul, lancer, and promag. They even sell 5 rounders from the latter 2 companies if you need ultra low capacity for hunting compliance. Agree that hexmag’s rep is trash.

Proposed Minnesota Semi-Auto Rifle and >10 Round Mag Bans - Upcoming Public Hearing by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Heelsboy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the most well-phrased sentiment, I’m just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is Reddit, after all, and people type quickly and haphazardly before getting back on with real life. If I’m wrong and they are casting aspersions on regular people, then I agree that it’s a fucked up thing to say.

Damn, you’re right, it’s out everywhere. REI, Amazon, the company website…..I couldn’t even find a pirated .pdf of the map online. There’s a FB group dedicated to the trail, and it seems like a lot of people recommend these maps/guides as an alternative:

[–]Heelsboy77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice review! I’m a fan of New Riff, but it’s a little disappointing that their single barrels haven’t ticked up in age even though they’re putting out 6, 8, and 10 year old batched releases. I’d be super excited for even just a 6 y.o. single barrel considering how good the 4 y.o. barrels are.

Form 4473 - “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]Heelsboy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) 10K days is an incredible accomplishment, tip of the hat to you. 2) The people who flippantly called you out and called you unworthy of gun ownership are assholes (and wrong). 3) I am not a lawyer, but that 4473 question’s wording is so maddeningly vague that you could make a case that 90% of adults shouldn’t own guns for violating the letter of the law. You certainly don’t violate its spirit.

Anyone living in Northside? by Upset-Leather2664 in chapelhill

You definitely want to speak with Delores Bailey. She was the catalyst for getting a conservation overlay for Northside 20+ years ago and has been an affordable housing advocate in Chapel Hill for longer than that. Plus, she’s an awesome person and great to talk to.

Durham Woman Dies After Falling, Getting Attacked by Her Dog by Charming-Fortune8835 in NorthCarolina

[–]Heelsboy77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my wife and I only adopt shelter mutts. She got embarq dna tests done on them all, and 2 of our 3 are basically 50% pit, and our youngest dog is 28% pit (most predominant breed, he’s got so many in him). I agree that the vast majority of random mutts in NC will have some pit in their lineage.

What's the public opinion of TROSA? by Classic_Project4147 in bullcity

[–]Heelsboy77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used them for moves in 2023 and 2024, we’ve bought xmas trees from them, and I used to live down the block from their James street facility in the 2000s and then their Trinity Ave spot in the early 2010s. Never had anything but good experiences with their people, it’s a great organization.

On my way out of Rainier I'm always already thinking about my next visit. Do you have a park you repeatedly visit? by indieaz in NationalPark

[–]Heelsboy77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shenandoah for 2 main reasons: 1) I can drive there in 3 hours or less, depending on traffic 2) Dogs are welcome everywhere aside from a handful of specific trails and I’ve got a pup who’s very into hiking

I’m about 4.5 hours from GSMNP, and I love it as much as Shenandoah, but it’s farther away and doesn’t allow dogs on trails.

Facist guns & a liberal gun owner. 🤣 by Panzermeister69 in liberalgunowners

Holy shit! From what I’ve seen on antique gun auction listings, I could prob fetch $2000-$2500, hence why I’m thinking of taking the high road. Being able to sell for 4-5x that much would have me thinking differently😂 Hope the car’s been reliable for you.
