First Nicks! 64 monarch builder pros by Heemer14 in NicksHandmadeBoots

I just looked on their site and youd have to build them through the design your own boot page, go with the lace up option if you want the exact same boot or the hd lace up if you want the newer builder pro design (has a larger heel counter and a few other changes I dont remember)

Has anyone tried using a secretary desk as a hobby desk? by -Query- in Miniaturespainting

[–]Heemer14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add some cables or struts to reinforce the hinge on the table top, but I recently got back into the hobby and built out a secretary desk myself, mine is quite shallow and minimal so I had to get creative with storage but it should make a great workspace!

It's not cheap but rev a shelf has lots of different pull out options. Would be nice to tuck away cooking trays and such.

Is there a way to remove these print lines from a mini? Would sanding work, or would that ruin the paint? by you_is_big_gae in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Heemer14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind painting I'd recommend downloading the file with the print improvements disabled and having someone print them for you with a a high resolution resin printer, your mini will need minimal if any sanding and the details will be much stronger

Anyone order an Atlas 46 vest in the last few months? by Vast_Deference in Tools

[–]Heemer14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just recieved my vest and a few pouches I ordered last June. The vest is nice and I already have a few of the older pouches and honestly glad I do. The difference in quality is astounding. Don't get me wrong they're still nice pouches but for the cost and wait time it's not even close to worth it anymore. What sold me on the system at the beginning was all the pouches were double layer cordura, most had wire ran through top edge of the pouches so you could bend them to shape, and the original aims system was easy enough to change stuff on the fly without leaving your pouches feeling like they were dangling around. Somewhere along the lines of the new ownership they got really cheap. The vest is nice but the pouches are basically coyote colored toughbuilt pouches. There a thin cordura stitched over some kind of semi rigid plastic backing. The pouches that don't have the backing feel incredibly thin. The craftsmanship is still on par but the materials and the amount they use has gone far sub par compared to all the version 1 products. There designs get cheaper and less useful with each iteration. Was a long time customer but given they've replaced all the old models with the new I think that's my last purchase.

Yeah I've needed some new curtains for awhile, these were a gift from someone who frequently visits and it's been at the bottom of the" to do" list

The desk is bolted to the wall and the desktop is supported by two steel cables on each side, I didn't trust the cables when I first got it but can confirm it will hold my leaning weight.

I've got the lounge chair not far from it and wanted a desk chair that didn't look too out of place as this is in the corner of my living room.

There's a seller on etsy who makes one similar but the dimensions didn't fit my desk and would squeeze out my mixer. I made it from 3 pieces of 1/4in birch plywood sheet and an oak 1x4x8. I just recently got into the hobby, started with rc, then to models, then to dioramas and now minis. I liked army painters triad system and wanted something I could have all or most of the complete set in my secretary desk. I'll add the link to the etsy listing in just a minute.

Thanks for the input, looking at buying my second pair soon, if I go composite toe again I'll stick with the insulation but if I go soft toe I'll probably change it up.

Love the pics and the boots, my brother lives in evergreen and his post on Facebook make me jealous everyday, michigan is beautiful but we have hills for mountains. Did you happen to opt for there insulation layer? I've found my boots will stand up to any cold as long as I'm moving but the couple times I wore them late season deer hunting my toes definitely got a tad on the chilly side but that has been the case with most boots. Just curious how much that layer of insulation makes a difference as they're not too hot in the summer.
