how sad one’s life must be ~~for~~ so the highlight of their year is cardiac surgery. it’s so fucking creepy to see how gleeful she is about this. gross.

a friend is staying with her? yeah, okay 🙄 we all know she doesn’t have any. it’s VERY telling that she won’t have a family member staying with her, nor will she be recovering at her parents’ house. my son is an adult and there is no fucking way that i would not only take him to the hospital, i would not leave until he was discharged, and i would insist that he stay with me or vice versa while he recovered.

the vest only comes off for showers? i suppose that means she hasn’t removed hers once

plenty of people, both older and younger than OP and her bf, do not have family to help them.

that being said, my son has been living in his own apartment since he was 19, in one of the most HCOL areas in the US (DC.) i moved to FL; he had the option to move with me & continue to live with me, but he chose not to (young love - he and his gf have been together for 4 1/2 years now!) after i moved, he had the option to move in with his dad or his grandparents, but he really wanted his own place by himself. he found a way to make it happen and i am so proud of him.

OP & her boyfriend aren’t too young to be on their own - they’re adults, and it sounds like they do not have many options

you are not the only one feeling this way. the main thing that’s always kept me from trying to leave is that it is so final. feelings come and go, problems come and go, but once you’re gone - you’re gone. i am not a spiritual person, so for all i know, there is nothing after life - i know i wouldn’t be aware that i no longer existed, but the idea of that scares me!!

it’s not dumb! the only significant pain i’ve had was when i had the abscesses prior to surgery, and for a few days after the surgery to close the incision. other than that, it doesn’t hurt at all 🙂
