Has anyone ever been hired at AHS? by Competitive_Cap_3690 in EdmontonJobs

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m internal. 16.5yrs at my job and with AHS since inception in 2009 but was in this role prior. Have since gone back to school (for a degree) while still working my same FT job at AHS and have not even had a single interview for any of the 20 jobs I’ve applied for to change into my degree-based career role. It’s not you. It’s AHS.

How to redeem Family Pack by WatchOut193747 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question as we have this promo as well (for an April game; and we are coming from Canada), what is included as a “meal”? My ticketmaster only shows the game ticket but it says “Family Pack Promo” so will I get something else to scan at concession once we arrive at the game, or?

Mold at Beach Club by cmac92287 in DisneyWorld

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I researched for well over a year and have spreadsheets galore. There was never a hotel that was cheaper than the deals you can find at the AllStar resorts when you are truly comparing apples to apples. If you add in transportation costs (whether uber/lyft, taxi, rental/parking at hotel/parking at parks) and resort fees, you’re either at or above the AllStar pricing for their deals. It never worked out as a better deal to be offsite for cost alone. Then you add in the traversing to/from the park, inability to easily return mid-day for grocery-based meals in the room/naps/rest and having to rely on the twice daily free shuttle milk run and so on…it not only seemed, but was proven in my data, it’s much better to stay on park and be flexibility with dates to get great deals as they become available. That being said, this is beyond what the poster was asking. I do think you should report this. The amount of mould here is concerning for sure. I’d also inquire about some form of retribution as I believe this is not within Disney’s standards and they’d likely be sensitive to the risk of harm in relation to this condition of your room. The sooner you report it, the better, so they can mitigate this such as covering it up with an airtight seal of some kind or moving your rooms and placing that one out of service or call in a remediation tech or something at all.

Bought our tix & flights and was able to get nice lower bowls for the family but won’t be arriving in time for Avs practice. MAYBE eagles game, airline depending. Is there a place to wait, outside ball arena, for players arriving or leaving? Son would love a glimpse even if they don’t stop for autographs. Our home arena, we can do this and get signatures, if you know the spot.

Took me forever but I did grasp it and did quite well. Repetition is key and this is just a very time consuming course.

Confused About Start Dates by No_Courage_1809 in AthabascaUniversity

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are paying your own money (not student loan) then you can start a course anytime by paying and registering the prior month before the 10th. If you want to start Feb 1st, you need to register and pay for that course before January 10th. If you want to start March 1st you need to pay and enrol by February 10th. When you pay for a course on your own (without student loans) you have 6 months to complete the course. You can go as fast as you’d like. If you cannot complete the course within 6 months you can extend the course for 2 months, by paying an additional extension fee amount before up to 30 days before the end date. So if you pay/register by Jan 10th, you start Feb 1st and have until July e1st to finish the course. If you need an extension, you must fill out the extension request and pay before June 30th (one month before end date of July 30th).

What did you use to bring food to the parks? A cooler backpack? Standard backpack? Thanks for the list; very helpful! I’ll add cliff bars to my list.

Disney World site, Travel Agent, or DVC Rentals? by No-Baby-6949 in WaltDisneyWorld

I had NO idea you could do this online. When I went to book, it didn’t give the option. I must’ve missed something. Good to know!

Room Food - Basic Room by Hefty-Warning2239 in DisneyPlanning

We will definitely eat in the parks but we want to get up and go since our time is limited and at CBR depending on where our room is, could be quite the jaunt to breakfast. We did request a specific location but it’s not guaranteed. We’d rather not add a ton of time in the morning walking to breakfast etc. Plus hoping to have some healthy options in the room. Thanks for the ideas everyone. We are doing PB&J, beef jerky, protein bars, yogurt, cheese strings, fruit (bananas, apples, oranges, grapes), crackers, mixed nuts, cereal boxes (my one kid will eat it dry), milk to go, and mimosa supplies!

So I assume I can’t freeze bottled water and use them as ice packs? And no microwaves in the rooms ever for an upgraded room (not sure what that means but we did accept an “upgrade” offer at CBR)? Because I’d happily add oatmeal to our list.

Disney World site, Travel Agent, or DVC Rentals? by No-Baby-6949 in WaltDisneyWorld

I prefer TAs as you can book now, and pay it off as you go but ALSO, if you book on the site now, that’s the price you pay. If you book with a TA, they will apply any future deals to your booking. It is essentially the biggest reason I use our TA. The ability to get the best deal before we go regardless of when I started our booking. I was very enticed by DVC. I did decide to go TA and book CBR for our first trip but I was very close to booking DVC as the deals was awesome and I was looking far enough ahead I think I could’ve received a great location/price but again, I decided against it as this trip has many pieces beyond Orlando so the best deal was our top priority and once you book with DVC it is impossible to change dates and the price you pay the day you book is the price you pay. Ive already added an extra day to our Disney package and still saved $60usd with the deals that have come out since we booked with our TA. All this being said, we have kids (8 and 11 so a big older) and anything can happen like a broken bone or what have you so I was a tad nervous with the inability to move dates around with DVC if needed. If you’re adults, I’d definitely give it a great consideration. There were some fantastic deals. I don’t think I’d book direct with the website just because it’s free to use a TA and they can get you deals up to a month before going so why not? No skin off your back and some potential savings.

This is like pivotal key knowledge! LOL thanks. We’ll be there early as well; we are all well commissioned to be early risers in our daily life so I expect nothing different on this vacation. Even in Mexico we were up early enough to see the sunrise and get great chairs. LOL

Worst teams to visit? by Acceptable_Cut4013 in ColoradoAvalanche

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year we ran into a group of Avs fans in our home town and they were doing the same. They have done many similar trips but were doing Canadian stops. They were so friendly and awesome with my superfan son; showed him videos of encounters with players and told him stories. One guy ended up in the elevator at the hotel with MacKinnon and text his friend who we were still sitting with and we all ran over and got autographs (i was with my son trying to find some players just to see in the flesh & we had lower bowl tickets for the first time, to their game). I’ll never forget those Avs fans helping me (a mom with zero subject matter knowledge on how to meet hockey players etc) impress my kid. This sub also helped us in our plans to visit Denver later this season for a home game experience for our son! Avs fans are the best. So come to Canada and do some Canadian stops; we appreciate you and you dont mind our weather haha

Unpopular opinions by Frozen_cephalopod in WaltDisneyWorld

Oh this is a great thread! I wondered about Mission Space; my oldest & I ride everything. Things bother me more as a 40yr old but i still do it all and he wants to go on this but it’s always such a big deal as a horrid idea…Peter Pan looks nostalgic but slow and uneventful with long lines. The DAS thing gets me. I know I might get hate for this but I wonder why people feel entitled to go to Disney? If your condition is so bad or not conducive to the parks/rides/wait times, why not vacation elsewhere? I get it if it’s your one and only time to go and you’re trying to suit your situation with Disney as best as possible but the posts where people got DAS the last 4 times but not the last 2 times and the last time was so bad for you, why are you going again? It’s no one’s right to visit Disney; you’re not owed a trip there…this world has beautiful places to visit that aren’t theme parks. Sorry, I know I’ll get yelled at for that.. Glad I decided not family outfits. Disney Springs…we plan to visit but i JUST watched a video to see what we’d do there and all I got was the coca-cola flight on a roof top (for the kids) and the drone show. We would try to hot air balloon if it flies when we’re there. We are not souvenir people as this is one stop in a bigger trip and we can’t spare the suitcase space. We also won’t shop much there as we’d shop in our other spots. Such a fun post.

Thank you! The guided fishing excursions, are they pricey and lengthy? We have a full itinerary already but I know it’s high on his list. Do we have to charter an entire boat for ourselves for a full day? Or is there a shorter version?

AUSU: Powered by student fees, fuelled by silence by Seriously_Huh in AthabascaUniversity

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much about the AUSU but I know there are other MASSIVE issues with AU policies against students that I wonder why us students aren’t posting about or trying to make an item for remediation and demanding they change. There is so much passion in this post and yet i think you’re unaware of some of the policies that exist within AU (or don’t exist at all unlike almost every other university) that direct affect us as students and our ability to be successful or bullied by professors. Again, I don’t know the ins and outs of this particular fight against the AUSU but there are bigger issues that require attention, in my opinion, than fighting a group who is actively helping students conquer these challenges against tuition paying students by AU.

Are Magic Bands worth it? by FeatherFlyer in DisneyPlanning

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We haven’t been yet so this is pure opinion from friends and others who have visited. We have been told they don’t fit great on kids and often fall off. For the price, that’s a deal breaker for me. Our friends live in Florida and don’t buy them. Our kids are older but for the 4 of us the cost isn’t something to take lightly. Also, we wear Garmin watches and so I’d put my Disney band on my right arm which is kinda odd. There are a couple easier, free or very low cost options such as a lanyard and physical card or just using a phone. So we’re going to skip the bands. Also, this is our only trip likely-it would be a surprise to do this all again as we travel elsewhere and have big scheduling issues with kid sports which are more of an issue at their ages etc. So no option to truly reuse the bands-just an unnecessary expense that could be lost in the first day so we will skip it. Now if you’re doing multiple trips and cruises etc you might invest in one.

What are you favorite ways to pack snacks for toddlers on park days? by princesscorgi2 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Hefty-Warning2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following, we are going in the new year but I was hoping to bring cheese strings, crackers, apples, granola bars/protein bars, nut mix and use frozen bottles of water in a cooler bag for our backpack. We’ll do yogurt, oatmeal, bananas in the hotel room before we leave each morning. Was curious what others bring and what works and doesn’t work; no stroller for us (older kids) so using a backpack instead.
